Newmark was not late getting onto shift; physically at least, as he was letting himself work on automatic through the routine of the Day by checking the supplies as he did everyday at the beginning of shift. Not a full inventory but opening the supply cabinets and checking that they are full before going over the Pass-Down notes from Alpha Shift.

Today he had to chuckle as the last shift had a bit of action as a routine repair in the Engineering had a minor Leak of coolant; it is not often that one deals with a Frost burn / bite as a team were battling getting the rupture contained and nothing more than second degree burns on the worst injured.

He could almost sympathize at the moment; he felt kind of Flash Frosted; the heat that he had come to have as a part of his life seems to be getting less heat and more a snow storm of sorts. Not that he loved her anay less; even more so yet it was more effort to express, like the desire to put forth the effort is dwindling like a candle burning the last wax. The flame is there but what is there to support the burn; the fuel.

"Doctor Newmark." He heard a voice behind him. "A nurse was calling for him.

"Yeah, sorry lost in thought." He placed the PADD down on the table. "WHat were you saying?"

"I am Jennifer, you met me last night, transfer from Gamma shift?" The small stature Brunette smiled. "I-I am a bit lost with the new routine?"

"Yes, well I guess I will have to be more attentitive." He assured. "My wife says I get a little off subject, just get my attention and it will all work out." He smiled. "I was going to go and check if the Cultures in Lab One were ready?" He nod to her. "If you could check the labs for progress as there is always a child or parent with a throat culture for some cold going around."

Being attentive had not really work all that well and he almost wanted to do a culture on his skill as a father? But that was not to be right now.

"Yes Doctor." Jennifer said and went off.

Newmark had to take a breath; he shook his head to try and change it. The thoughts were not listening to him of course, constant questions of what he can do different or change so he does not irritate himself or Nhallia. SHe was taking care of the baby, post-pardum is a part of the process and he knows that. the Adapting to the change in biochemistry and physique are just a part of it and he knew it.

Knowing in his head did not make it easier not to feel he was becoming obsolete at the moment. He was a doctor and a Dad; which one did his Ladies need? That was the question; she was being the ever present mother; to the point she did not seem to need the Doctor to help with the baby, she ahd made that point clear.

Would she need a Dad; his daughter had her Daddy; even if giving her a bottle once in a while seemed like blasphmey. He did not have the anatomical parts to replace or be in league with Nhallia. The bottle is his only way to bond with his daughter... that is what hurt. Her being the one to bond with the baby; he felt pushed out and detrimental as her father. Nhallia did not need nor want his help. Would she not need him to comfort her; she did not even really want to be beside him; and when she did give herself the time... Baby makes three. We all know that three is a crowd and that is what Newmark felt like, a crowd.

She loved him; he knew this would pass but no idea when adn not knowing is the worst part of it. Kit and STevie were busy a lot, but were they actually more busy or just staying clear? He dare not ask that question; they knew Nhallia longer and were her family but it seemed right now the New Mother did not need family at all right now.

Newmark had envisioned including two 'Aunts' in all this; that had gone down in thick flames. HIs life right now was on a slope and steeper the more he looked at it. He did not want to, he had work that might help him.

He was aware of the Slippery Slope that is his life of late.
