Mission:
Eye of the Storm
Location: Crew Lounge
IC:
John had gone to the main crew lounge to get away from work for a while. He had gotten a drink, sat down, and pulled out a deck of cards. Playing solitaire often helped him clear his mind. As he lay the cards out, he kept scanning the room.
Kara walked in, hoping to spend a little time outside of Marine Country. She saw Kayhill and walked over. "Hi, Major. Looking for someone to play with?"
"By all means Lieutenant", John said, scooping up the cards and starting to shuffle. "What games are you familiar with?"
She nodded to the cards. "At least a dozen types of solitaire. I also play several versions of poker and blackjack. And I'm a quick learner."
The clicking of heels echo as Spartacus came into the Lounge.
Her hair was loose swept up on the left side with an ornate silver comb, matching dangling Earrings that made a pretty sound like small wind chimes in her ears. The slats of the necklace surrounding her neck ans bracelets around her wrists. The burgundy type a frame dress cut just above the knees with the black lace overlay. She had her black stockings with the same lace patter woven in down to her silver Anklet that covered her left ankle. Walking in her normal fashion; she had been trained for each step to be as though on the Cat Walk no matter where she is. Her black lipstick and mascara to give that sultry almost Egyptian type eye adornment. Her Burgundy clutch was also with black lace trim. Stepping by the table she noticed the deck of cards; her smile widened and eyes alluring half open.
“Game of chance my friend.” She asked in a purr of a tone.
John extended his hand to one of the chairs, "Indeed, I was just asking, the Lieutenant here what games she was familiar with. I don't want us having to have long rules sessions before we can play."
"I have played Dabo; human Poker of various forms, Risan Seven card pyramid, Dragon Poker with all variations and rules memorized. The Ferengi Capitol Poker and even a Klingon Drinking Game with four cards and your hand at your knife to tag the fifth and get the winning hand." Spartacus shrugged and gave the cat like eyelash look. "What did you have in mind?"
Two minutes later, there was another tap-tap-tapping of heels as the doors to the lounge opened and two women walked in, both with brown hair. The one with heels wore a short skirt and bright red blouse, the other came in more sedately. She wore a pair of black jeans and a t-shirt with a sunburst on it.
The Latina noticed the two Marines and the counselor and headed over to their table. "Hello," she said in a strong Spanish accent. "I am Juanita Angelina Guadalupe de la Vega Sanchez, but you can call me Puma."
"Less of a mouthful," the other woman said, smiling. "Hi. I assume you're the new Marine CO? I know Teena and Kara." She smiled at the other two women. "I'm Talia, call sign Phoenix. Welcome aboard."
John shook their hands and said, "Puma and Talia, thank you for the welcome. Please have a seat."
"Thanks," Talia said, pulling out an empty chair. "This is a great way to meet people."
Puma sat down and ordered a drink. "Gracias. It has been a while since I played a good game of cards." She nodded to Spartacus.
"Yeah. The one last week with Boomer and Bojay wasn't exactly good. She lost two slips of latinum," Talia added.
The fighter pilot smiled at the other two women. "Hi, Counselor, Lieutenant."
"Miss Sanchez, Talia." Spartacus offered her hand to the man with the cards. "I am Spartacus."
John took her hand and shook it, "John Kayhill. A pleasure."
Having finished his after-duty run and got cleaned up and changed, Aenar had headed for the Lounge. He hadn't been looking for anything specific to do, but spotted the Major and some of the other officers from the away mission sat a way away.
Grabbing a drink he headed over, 'room for one more?' he asked, a little hesitant.
"By all means", John replied. "The more the merrier. Do you know everyone here?"
"Hi," Kara said to the newcomer. "Welcome aboard. I'm Kara. I heard we had a new head of science. I assume you're he?"
'Not quite everyone,' admitted Aenar before turning to the slightly-shorter brunette who had addressed him, 'Torek Aenar,' he said, extending his hands in the traditional Bajoran greeting, and inclining his head, causing his d'ja pagh to tinkle faintly, 'a pleasure to meet you Kara.'
She smiled, returning the greeting. "The pleasure is ours."
Johnathan stepped inside the room looking down at a padd, then up at everyone. "What do ya know, the map works," he grumbled. "Whats the game and the buy in?"
"It's the Major's deck, so up to him what we play," Kara said, looking to Kayhill.
"The game is straight 5 card poker, nothing wild. Let me know if you don't know the rules", John said. "The stakes are a bit reversed, the winner gives up a story. What got you into the Fleet or Marines?"
"All right. I'm in," Kara said.
"Me, too," Talia said. "Sounds like fun."
Puma just nodded her agreement.
"Not really familiar with the game, but I'm in," Askew stated.
'Sure, sounds alright to me,' said Aenar with a shrug. He wasn't particularly good at card games, but he wouldn't let that get in the way of some fun.
"So long as you do not deal me a dead Man's Hand." She smiled. Spartacus took a seat, folding her legs under her and crossed at the ankles.
"So, Major, are you going to deal the first hand?" Talia asked.
John smiled and dealt out the cards. Looking at his, John smiled and said, "I'm happy with my cards."
Kara picked up hers and nodded.
Juanita said a string of words so fast they ran together so that the UT coudln't pick them up.
Talia chuckled. "Bad hand, Puma?" She nodded. "I'm good."
"Take two." Spartacus asked.
Taking quick look at the others around the table, Aenar looked at his cards carefully, then indicated he was satisfied with his hand.
Askard glanced at his cards and nodded. "I guess it's ok?" He'd seen a 6, 7, 9 3,and an Ace in differing suits.
A petite human-looking woman walked into the room. There was a smile on her face and her blue eyes scanned the room for someone who needed assistance. She walked up to the card table and with a smile and a voice that spoke of spring and hope, mildly complained, "AwwWwww. I missed the start of a card game. Phooey!" The Chief Counselor gave everyone a pretty faux pout and then giggled girlishly.
