Location: Sickbay

"Sir, it is time for the check up for the Marines today and we have a small portion of crews waiting outside," a nurse said.

"Oh," the doctor said, closing his PADD that he was working on. "Bring one of them to the exam room and I will be right out." He stood up to pick up his light blue lab coat, sliding his arms through it until he was settled into it, and glanced at the nurse at the doorway.

"Yes, sir," she responded.

At the replicator, he ordered a cup of coffee and took the mug with him, leaving his office. Dwight took a sip as he headed to exam room one.

[Exam Room 1]

Kara, having finished her morning to do ist, was the first one into sickbay. "Hello, doctor," she said when he entered.

Dwight gave a smile at the female whose brown hair was put up in a bun and sitting at the biobed. He placed his mug on the exam tray and picked up a tricorder. "Hello. I'm Doctor Dwight McCabe, chief medical officer," hearing his own Irish accent. "How are you?"

"I'm good. How is your day going, Doctor?"

"Good, thank you," he opened the tricorder to start the scans. "And you are Kara Melo? Anything I need to know that isn't on your medical record? Any recent changes?"

"Yes, I am. There are no changes that I'm aware of. I spend most of my time doing drills or paperwork."

"No changes, okay." The instrument gave the usual beeps as it began the scans. "Five feet tall and six inches tall, Betazoid, a hundred and thirty-two pounds...healthy. So, where you from?" With another set of beeps, he closed the tricorder and placed it on a metal tray, next to the biobed.

"I come from a small colony called Kelinor," she said. "There are only a million inhabitants."

"Kelinor, I see. Now, I need you to lay on your back so I can palpate the stomach and the abdomen area," the doctor said.

Kara lay on her back for the doctor.

He placed his gloved hands on her stomach area and moved it around, giving it a gentle push. "Any pain?" Dwight watched her face as he gave a little pressure to her abdomen.

"A little muscular pain, but that's because I've been doing some extra crunches lately and I'm starting to feel them." She smiled. "I can' tlet any of the grunts out perform me."

He disposed his gloves and gave her a smile. "You are all set, Kara. Your physical exam is completed and passed with flying colors. Any questions before you are free to go?"

"No, sir. I appreciate the clean bill of health." She grinned. "I'll be sure to let the rest of my platoon know they should swing by sickbay before long."

Dwight nodded at the female marine. He picked up his mug and watched her leave. A nurse has reported of another marine in the next exam room.

[Exam Room 2]

"Wait," Askard said as he gained the message stating it was time for his check up. Shrugging he made his way through the ship, much easier this time. Signing in, he was ushered into an exam room, where he sat on the bio bed and waited.

As soon as Dwight was finished with the first marine, he brought his coffee mug and a tricorder with him as he entered the 2nd exam room. He noted the man had a scar over his left eye and two different eye colors. His bio medical record stated that he was blind in his left eye. And that has concerned him, wondering why he didn't get it corrected by means of technology. "Hello...Mister Askard. How are you? I'm Doctor Dwight McCabe."

"Not bad," Johnathan said grunting. "I just went through this not that long ago when I got here, mid mission. But I understand protocol and just need to get this done."

"I understand," he took a sip of his coffee before setting it down and continued, "Any new changes to your medical records? Mind if I ask how you got the scar which I see caused your blindness in your left eye?"

"No changes," Askard said before gently touching the scar over his eye, remembering how Terrans "taught" children. "Its an old scar, from before i even thought of joining Starfleet, or knew what it was." Dropping his hand, Askard cleared his throat. "Back to business at hand."

"If you ever want to get that fixed, let me know as we have the technology. Anyways, I'm going to do your physical," he opened the tricorder to begin. "I see that you are very fit being muscular. How much time do you spend in exercises?"

"Any time im not making Marines train or sleeping or regulation breaks I work out. I have had some issue getting the pudge around the middle gone." Askard was ignoring the eye comment like he always did. He didn't know what he would do with two good eyes.

Dwight nodded as the tricorder beeped and then beeped again towards the end of scanning. "Five feet and eleven inches. Terran at 280 pounds. You are healthy. Where on Earth are you from?"

"Not your earth, but Oklahoma," Askgard said looking directly at the Doctor. "My family came across from the Terran Empire, I just happened to be there when we tried to set up a colony here."

"A different timeline, perhaps?" He closed the scanner and put it away. Seeing his coffee sitting alone, he picked it up to take a few sips and placed it back on the tray.

"Alternate Dimension," Johnathan said before running down a brief albeit bloody history of the Terran Empire since the day when Zephram Cochraim shot and killed Sarek, and then started a full operation to take over any and every life they could find. "Everyone is a Soldier, and even at a young age we're treated like it."

"Just never heard of the Terran Empire, okay. I need you to lay on your back so I can palpate your abdomen...old-fashioned way," the doctor said. As soon as Mister Askard has his body in a supine position, he placed his hands and worked around the stomach to the liver area giving it a gentle pressure while watching his face for any pain reactions. "Any pain?"

"No pain," Johnathan said looking oddly at the doctor. "Dont your instruments do a better job of scanning than your hand?"

"That's good. I like to sometimes use my hands as it shows more than the scanner and it is a good practice if we end up without instruments," he smiled. "Your exam is clear with flying colors. Any questions before you leave?"

"None," Askard said before sitting up. "Anything you need from me other than the eye? Cause no offense doc, I work well without it."

"Nope, you are all set to go, mister Askard", the doctor picked up the PADD to quickly enter the information before picking up his coffee again. He waited until the marine left the room. Then, he received news from the nurse to report to the next examination room.
