Mission: Food for the Gods
ON
Vulcan had seen it's share of things of late; the terrorist activity had taken many by surprise; Not so much as Savar had tried to fight the urge to be involved; it is not his place after all, he had given up the life of Intel as it was too taxing on his nerves. The constant collecting of Data; no longer, none of the Covert Operations as those actions now had a defined department and he had not been transferred to it.
Still, he was on Vulcan; the birth place of his heritage but not himself. Training more along the path of less emotions is not why he came here; he just happened to be here as a diplomatic assignment. Representing the Federation within Vulcan affairs. In other words, he was bored and had some emotional reactions to a transfer.
He and his Mate Lei Shan were going into space again; this time on a higher ship of the Line; a commodore in command, and Savar had taken a diplomatic transfer so that his mate could have the opportunity for advancement. She deserved it after his holding her back a bit; Savar had petitioned for a promotion for his beloved; and getting onto a starship was a boon, but the Flagship of the fleet could not have been a better request for Savar. His rank was not important; but Lei needed to have a jump in her career. Of course her records made it an easy request for Savar to accompany *her* to a new posting. Rather that the usual her following his career transfers, Savar had lobbied to go with his mate to her assignment.
He walked into the quarters.
"I am here, My Lei." He announced after the doors shut.
Shan turned away from the trunk she was packing and smiled at him. Lei Shan, Shan to her friends and coworkers, had an expressive smile. It could be jubilant as a child, cold as liquid nitrogen, sultry as a summer evening, everything in between and more. Right now, it was excited and determined. And held more than a hint of appreciation for her Mate who had willingly agreed, even helped, to get this transfer and promotion for her. "Welcome home, Sehlat," she said as she crossed the room to him. "Get everything taken care of and finished up at the office?"
"Logically I have completed the tasks as required." He held her close. "I have the usual transfer time. The Calypso is back in orbit and nearly completed her repairs." He explained. "We should be able to embark soon."
"Excellent," she said and her eyes lit up. "I can't wait to get back to work. Real work- not puttering around and annoying the staff at the embassy looking for projects to help with."
"They might need you early... I could over see the moving process if you like."
Shan hesitated for a moment. "You're sure you wouldn't mind?" she asked, trying to sound like idea didn't make her want to sprint to the nearest transporter pad to beam up right this instant.
"I think it would logically be in the ship's best interest for the new Deputy OPS CHief to start showing how she earned the promotion and such." Giving her a sly grin.
She returned the grin. "I love the way your mind works," she murmured. She reached up and grasped his collar with one hand, pulling him down into a passionate, deep, but fast kiss. Scandalously passionate for the Vulcan homeworld, actually. She couldn't say she'd be really sorry to leave this planet; even if you didn't take into account the impact to her career, etc, Vulcan society was much to restrictive for her tastes.
As she kissed her mate, she thought hard at him just how much she was going to enjoy not being near a horde of prudish telepaths all day and all night.
*You make one sound bad enough.* He projected during the Kiss. "Good thing I am not the prying type.* He finished the Kiss.
"You should be going Love, I think our next bit of passion should be where it can be properly enjoyed without prying minds." He said aloud. "I will be a few hours behind you."
"Take care, then. And I'll find some way to thank you properly for your thoughtfulness." Shan's innocent words and tone gave no hint to the much less innocent promise in her smile as she winked at him and slipped out of his arms to grab the PADD with her orders. "I'll make sure our quarters are ready for you to start moving our things in." She paused right before leaving. "I love you," she said. Shan didn't often say those words out loud; she expressed her love in different ways. She made the effort to say it at times, because she got the impression that he liked to hear the words. And right now she really wanted him to know how much she appreciated his willingness to change his assignment for her.
"You are My Lei." Savar said with a smile. "I will be waiting the rewards." He winked.
"And I'll make it worth the wait," she promised with a laugh as she ducked out of sight.
((Calypso))
The Transporter Room of the Galaxy II Class is not all that different from the original; in the mechanics and processor upgrades is where the unseen advancements of this class of vessel.
Once Materialized the Executive Officer stood in the Transporter Room; the blond haired and tall man looked at her with a diplomatic expression on his face. He stepped forward and offered a hand to her.
"I am Commander Hans Munich, your Executive Officer." He introduced himself. "I wish to welcome you aboard the Calypso."
Shan stepped off the transporter pad and took the offered hand. "Lieutenant Lei Shan, your new Assistant Chief of Operations," she introduced herself. "It's a pleasure to be on board ship again, Sir."
"We are glad to have you." His German accent was pronounced but still he was clearly able to be understood. "The ship took some damage and we are working field repairs as the computer has some damage as well as some Engineering problems. A lot of over loads, your help would be appreciated."
"Yes, Sir, I'm ready to get started right away. I just need the signature on my orders saying that I arrived early and am starting right away with permission." She handed him the PADD with her orders for him to take and sign, then she could make sure it was filed properly. Ops dealt with personnel as well as systems, so she would be able to drop it off in her own department as she reported for an work assignment.
Munich tapped his code into the PADD.
"You are officially welcomed to the ship." Munich grinned. "Report to OPS and they will give you an assignment." He pointed the way. "I Vill Valk you and fill you in on events you need to know."
"Thank you, Sir." Shan took the PADD back and started striding purposefully in the direction he had indicated. "What's the status of ship and personnel?" she asked.
"The warp drive is not on line yet, impulse is repaired..." Munich began as they walk. "Personnel from the planet are on recall. The Commodore is back and in Command, Communications are just being repaired and the General control network needs to be verified as the ship's computer was hacked and then we had to do some more drastic measures to bring the ship under control." He showed her along to the OPS. "We are clearing the virus and then we can make final repairs to depart from Vulcan."
Shan whistled under her breath. "Wow. You were all really put through the ringer, weren't you? I had no idea it was so bad..."
"I did not want you to run from the Transfer by being scared of what happened?" He grinned.
Shan snorted in a most unlady-like way. "Not likely. Don't go thinking I'm some fragile, hot-house flower. You've seen my official record, Sir, and know what my ships have been through while I was on them." She didn't mention a few... unofficial missions she'd been on, when things had also gone pear-shaped. It wasn't like she was a stranger to the kind of danger Starfleet was prone to.
"I was a chief of OPS for a time before going into present position; I read your file and I know talented people." He complemented. "I admit I am happy to have someone of your skill level here. I also know that you have been on classified missions that are not on most books; this is the flagship of the fleet, you will be put to the test I assure you." He stopped just outside the doors to OPS. "I would escort you in but no one wants the 'Boss" with them when they come into the office the first time so I bid you farewell and good luck."
She nodded. "Thank you, Sir," was all she said before she turned and strode into Ops.
