"That is ... refreshing." Spartacus was relaxing her back a bit more. "But what do you offer as an individual?"
NEW
"I like to solve things." Gink said attentively. "If an acquaintance has a dilemma I like to find the answer to that delemma." He explained. "I have to gather the fact; which often comes with a lengthy explanation of the parameters of the problem, then help chose a course of action to solve the problem."
"At what cost to them?" Gink looked at her perplexed. "Do you charge for services rendered?" Gink shook his head adamantly. "Good, you like to 'help' your circle of friends?"
"Of course."
"That will be a good answer." Gink looked relieved so Spartacus decided to let him have a little more of a break, he was being honest and not too much like most of those slimy creatures. “How do you feel about having aa female ssuperior Officer in charge of your assignments?”
“The female would have earned the rank and privileged that come with the assignment, to show her less than respect would be a violation of protocols and regulations.” Gink replied honestly. “I obey the orders of the command chain, that begins within my department and continues up.” Gink smiled. “The Calypso’s Commanding Officer personally requested my reassignment; is that a good enough example that I do not have any problems with females in command?”
Spartacus had to pause, taking the time to ponder both the decision of Samantha to bring on a Ferengi and how her friend always did what was best for the ship as a whole so this Ferengi had a good function since Samantha had him transferred and her not liking Ferengi had nothing personal in the decision other than Spartacus’ opinion.
“I trust the Commodore more than you know.” Spartacus said as she tried to think of her next point; at least Mr. Gink was enjoying the snacks she had brought for him
“Do you have any pending questions for me?” She asked.
“Did I pass?”
“I think we can safely say you would not be a hindrance to the ship and thus an asset to our ship family.” Spartacus had to give him the same type of credit she gave all the crew when she found they were within the parameters of regulations and good spirits as a type of basis. “You are safe from me for a year.” Spartacus said honestly. I will be putting the recommendation you be allowed to continue with your duties on the USS Calypso.” She had certain formality she had to follow. “I am sure you section chief will be happier to have you on board.”
“What can you tell me of my Section Chief?” Gink asked after swallowing a mouth full.
“Excuse me?”
“I asked what you could tell me of my New Section Chief.”
“That would be privileged infor...”
“Just the Generalities of course; I am sure you are a part of the crew and have heard things mentioned?”
“I am afraid I cannot say.” Spartacus was not liking this line of questioning.
“You have not heard things in the lounge or the corridors.” Gink seemed surprised. “I am sure there must be some...”
“Nothing.” Spartacus snapped. “As a counselor if I say anything it can be regarded as giving information and a violation of the confidentiality clause.” She tried to calm her tone. “We are still officially under session and thus anything I say would be considered inappropriate.” She told him and paused at his expression. “Besides, it is better you go in with no preconceptions.” Spartacus corrected herself. “I find that discovery for one’s self is the best rule.” Gink nodded slowly eyeing her. “Well...” Spartacus stood. “I am glad to certify you as being ready for duty and wish you the best of luck.”
Gink rose with her as is proper, almost spilling the last of his beans. “Yes… um .. thank you. “ He placed the plate down and Offered a hand but Spartacus just smiled a little more.
“Have good fortune in your investigations.” She bid him farewell.
“Yes.. of course.” He nod and turned on his heels. “T-thank you for your time.”
“AN open door policy...” Spartacus gave her usual endorsement for being open to the crew before she could think better of it.
“I-I will keep that in mind.” Gink said as he head for the door.
The door closed behind him and Spartacus let out a held breath.
