Spartacus nearly took in a breath at the last point the man made, Gink watched and noted all the things around him it seemed and kept a tally of it.
"Is that not true?" Gink concluded with a question.
Spartacus took a second to compose her intelligent response; not to mention getting past a Ferengi realizing in some way how to be romantic in an effective way, she had to come to a professional opinion.
"You are correct.” Spartacus replied slowly as she could not seem to get past the last point for a seemingly eternal second or two. "In a general term and definition that is." She was getting back to the session again. "So do you rate knowing higher than..." She left the ending open.
"Than Latinum..." Gink said matter-of -factly. "Without 'knowing' profits would be random, no markets for profit would be possible and the economic base of the Ferengi way of life might faulter." Gink shrugged. "That is why I did not go into business, Profits are migratory; trend are like the wind on Earth that changes often, and markets are never permanent, and they stagnate over time. Business is getting knowledge and using it to profit. You get a product; know where to sell it and how to make it profitable, then one succeeds. Investigation is like profits in that it helps stimulate the systems it was intended to serve. A proper investigation bring knowledge so that laws and criminal acts can be dealt with." It was how he saw things. "The Star Ship is on one big investigation in a way; we seek to know other cultures, fact of the universe and use that knowledge to better the Federation as a whole. My duty in a micro-example of that."
Spartacus was intrigued by the Ferengi; he did not follow the ways of most and she did catch his periodic ; but subtle she had to admit by his effort not to , glances at her legs. It was not making her skin crawl as is normal; he seemed to be making effort to avoid staring and did make eye contact. While her urge to move her chair or take his chin and move it up to stare in her eyes seems overbearing, she managed to know that it is a male trait and give the Ferengi major credit for trying to control himself. And she should have worn slacks for this.
"I can see where you are dedicated to this but what would you say you offer the crew... " She raised her finger to hold his 'knee-jerk' reply. "Aside from your Duty skills and position on the ship. You as an individual offer to fellow individuals?"
Now that caught Gink off-guard. He wanted to say his finding of facts no matter what the road block but as a personal note that is like asking a business man what do you do other than making profit? This woman had looks; really nice legs and a mind that was quite worth more than it's weight in factoids.
"I-I had not really thought of that." Gink admitted. "I like being around people; I socialize with those I work with when needed."
"That is not what I asked." She pressed him, having him off his game was what she sought.
"Honesty, being truthful maybe?" Gink was reaching for things to reply. "I like to get to know others; be able to better support them professionally and on those occasions privately. If I am well acquainted I tend to be able to give better help to their requests?"
"What if it is a female wanting knowledge of her having affection?" This was pushing things but Ferengi were an odd; and often slimy, bunch and to have Gink among the population Spartacus felt she could use this knowledge.
"A-are you asking if I have ever mated?" He defended the accusation.
"Not necessarily, but being a friend is also a type of shared affection." Spartacus presented her point. "Male and female interactions are not easily defined; how are you with female friends?"
"I- prefer to keep more male friends as they are easier to be around. Females have 'tendencies' towards emotional reactions rather than relying upon the common knowledge. I do tend to like to observe their choices in attire and dead the question of my opinion of those choices..." Gink admitted.
"Why is that?" Spartacus saw another venue to go for.
"I tend to be .. mistaken and relay offensive information by my recollection." Gink could not help but notice her stiffed grin, it brightened her face like the spring leaves before the flowers bud. "I find that the females I have interactions with do not ask me often and expect me to give a negative opinion before I open my mouth. They think I am not accurate when I complement, and I have often been accused of undressing women with my vision." He put in.
"You are saying the Ferengi stigma of not allow females to be clothed affects your interactions with females?" She asked.
"To a degree. Yes." He shrugged. "I am attracted to females naturally; it is also a fact that having habituated so long my Ferengi desire to have 'all women' naked 'all' the time is not as ... large a desire as most. It is like learning a new custom r way of thinking, being around clothed females has changed my vantage." He laughed. "I would like to see females naked; do not get me wrong, but I feel it is more like any normal male."
"That is ... refreshing." Spartacus was relaxing her back a bit more. "But what do you offer as an individual?"
