Mission:
Pulling Together
Location: Fighter Bay
Timeline: Back Post
ON:
Leroy stepped out of his office with a cup of coffee in his hands and looked around at the crews that were steadily working. "Phoenix, Wedje, Bojay, Hobbes, my office!" He called into the void of work, yelling, minor curses, and loud bangs as tools were dropped. Turning around he shambled back into his office, looking like a zombie that had just dug himself up from the grave.
Phoenix was taking the opportunity to do some touch-ups on her bird. It purred like a kitten, but she wnated it to look great on the outside, too. When she heard Leroy's order, she carefully finished the section she was retouching and put the paint away. She pulled out a cloth and wiped her hands before making her way to the Boss' office.
"You look terrible," she said to Leroy as she walked in and took a seat. "No disrespect, Boss." She grinned, knowing she wasn't telling him anything he didn't already know.
"This is what happens when you get old Talia," Leroy said with a shrug and a bitter sip of coffee. "I honestly don't understand how anyone can drink this sludge. But we're waiting on the rest of the team before the talky really begins."
"You're not old," Phoenix insisted. "But drinking that stuff isn't helping any." She raised a hand. "I know. Not my place. Still, I can't see what the fascination is with something like that."
Wedge came through the door with his padd in hand; just like a flight briefing. Not out of breath ut he had rushed to get here.
"SOrry I am late Boss." Wedge said calmly. "IN orbit I guess I was too relaxed?"
Bojay came all but bursing into the room pulling his jacket on and his hands still a bit streaked with gel from doing his maintenance. "Traffic was hell from the ready area," Bojay partly joked. "Fighter is pinned up and ready to fly."
"Is Hobbes out on a run?" Leroy asked, looking at his team. "Never mind, I'll just get a report from him as well. So how were the children while I was away?" Leroy said in a plainly humorous tone. He wasn't being mean to his pilots, just playful. "Did we accidentally kill or maim anyone else?"
"Hobbes is doing CAP right now," Phoenix said. "To answer your other question, no one killed or maimed, no ships damaged." She was pleased to see the boss back in charge.
"Always good to hear," Leroy said with a smile. "Was there any additional training that happened while I was out?"
"We all spent time on the holoeck," Phoenix said. "Dogfighting."
"I'll need those reports." Leroy said taking another bitter sip of his coffee before setting it down. "Gah, I don't know how any of you drink that crap."
"I don't," Phoenix said, grinning. She nodded to Wedge and Bojay. "They're in charge of coffee. I drink herbs." She'd get the reports to him as soon as this meeting was over.
"And how did these two perform as acting Chief while I was out?" He asked Phoenix.
"Not bad. But then, we didn't have anything but drills on the holodeck," she said. "But hey, there's nothing wrong with starting out simple."
"No, there isnt." Leroy said as he toyed with an idea. Hitting a small button on his desk, a klaxon went off in the fighters bay, claiming a drill, and that all pilots needed to head to Holodeck 3. To an outsider it would have sounded like a red alert. "Wedge, Bojay, myself and Talia have been captured, possibly killed. Which one of you is in command, and what do those men and women who are heading to holosuite 3 do?"
Phoenix grinned. "So, do we get to play our captors?"
"Nope, we get to take notes and talk while they fight..." Leroy lead off while picking up a padd and looking through the list of enemies. A sinister smile spread across his fave as he showed her the enemy he had picked. The alternate universe version of themselves.
Talia grinned appreciatively. "Perfect."
Bojay took his PADD and shook his head. "Great I get to fight them without the normal rules as a spectator to evaluate not only them but myself." He chuckled. "Do we get any input in the flying or are we just school masters?"
"You're flying, and you weren't supposed to know," Leroy said taking the padd back before changing up the enemy without either of them knowing. "This is a test of your ability to lead, say me and Phoenix are out, down, shot down, or dead."
"I know I am going to have a real talk with myself should they get lucky and actually flame his tail." Wedge spoke in a tone that might not be joking. "Might be a good lesson to fight what the computer thyinks I can do. A truly interesting lesson Boss." He glanced about. "ANyone up for joining me in a duel with myself?"
"The men aren't to know who the enemy is either," Leroy said shaking his head. He was starting to get what he thought was a migraine. "Both of you, get to the holosuite, me and Phoenix will be on our way shortly."
Phoenix couldn't help chuckling as the two left.
Shaking his head again, he felt the migraine starting to ebb. "So, how does a joint attack from the Jem-Hadr and Marquise sound? We could be pirates!"
"Sounds like fun!" It would be a nice change from standard drills and could be a great training exercise, too.
"Then lets go be pirates," Leroy said holding out his arm like one would do before a big date into a fancy restaurant. "I just don't know how to get the two species to co-exist long enough for this training round to commence." Thinking he smiled again. "It's going to be so much fun when they don't see what they thought."
Phoenix took his arm and grinned. "I'm looking forward to this."
