Mission: Pulling Together

[CONTINUED...]

[OLD]

"I have lost enough from this ship, Captain. My career will not be next. I promise you my request will be reasonable and doesn't involve me, but I will be using Intel technology on an unofficial case to help satisfy the curiosity of your friend on Vulcan. You are already doing this to help someone else. All I am asking is you see it from my perspective. My career is all I have left now." Remy paused for a moment, clearing his throat a bit before continuing. "I am sure you could always get help from Mister Wolfe, but I am sure you are not going to pull him away from his newborn. You know what I have to work with and that I will not stop till its over. My team can do this, but if you remember, one of my team members isn't Starfleet and doesn't have the same protection from the Federation as we do. I am looking out for him, not myself."

[NEW]

"I am the one who will take the blame if anything goes wrong. Not you and not your team," Sam said. "We are not doing this for my friend. We are doing this because I want to investigate and my friend has given me permission. Unofficially. The Vulcan government is doing the official investigation, but my friend believes there is more to this than a simple anti-unification protest. Since this involves one of my crew, I am going to look into it. I would like your help."

"You're doing this because your a good person and you want to see justice for a fallen crewmember. All I am asking for is something in return because, if you recall, my equipment is on loan from Starfleet Intelligence. Equipment that is under my responsibility. You won't be the only one taking blame." Remy picked up his small uniform jacket from the floor and took a moment before adding. "Captain. All I am asking for is a little trust. Trust and assurance. That's all. You will get what you want. I promise you. Just extend the courtesy and give me a little trust in return."

"Reassurance of what?" she asked.

"That you will do what I ask to keep me from losing someone else I care about." Remy replied softly.

"I will do what I can," Sam replied. "To keep you out of trouble, to help you from losing a member of your department, and to help keep you from losing your ship. I have connections as well as you do, Mr. Batiste. But I cannot give a blanket agreement to something before I know what it is."

"I trust that is true." Remy replied before clearing his throat. "I am going to need the crime scene report and access to any information you friend has on this group he/or she believe's is responsible. I can have my team there as soon as possible."

"Sending it to you now," Sam said, forwarding the information T'ala sent her. "This is what I have so far. I plan to go down to the planet and get more."

"Are you bringing your Chief Guard Dog down with you, Captain or is he still on baby duty?" Remy replied calmly as he began to straighten himself out.

"I haven't spoken to him yet, so I can't answer that. It will depend on the situation." That was true enough. She hadn't planned on taking a security team with her to visit the planet. She'd honestly thought abut taking Damon. If so, she would not ask Damion. The two did not get along well. And to be honest, she did have a preference for Damon.

When she was done talking to Remy, she was about to go onto the bridge when her combadge chirped again.

=^=Lieutenant Barak to Commodore York,=^= said Arnon.

"York here. How can I help you, lieutenant?"

=^=I was about to ask you the same thing,=^= Arnon replied. =^=I just now heard about the explosion. I was visiting a...colleague outside the city. I've only just now seen the news feed and the security alert. Where can I be the most useful?=^=

"I think Lieutenant Dixon might need your ear," Sam said. "She's T'Pral's assistant. I'm not sure if she's heard yet, or how she'll take the news. Beyond that, play it by ear. Most of the crew should be fine, but some will be angry. I don't want overreactions."

"Of course," Arnon said. "I'll track her down and talk to her. As for the rest of the crew, we'll need to see what happens. I'll get the word out that they are to come and speak with myself or one of the other counselors if the need arises, but as you know, it's just not feasible for us to screen the entire crew for stress in anything resembling a short period of time."

"Understood. Thank you, Doctor Barak."

Once more, Sam tapped her combadge, this time contacting Commander Munich.

"Commander Munich, can you please come in here?" she asked.

=^= On my way." Munich said across the channel.

From the Bridge Munich stood from his Executive Officer chair; one he found more fitted to his person, he nod to the Operations Officer ; the officer of highest rank and seniority. "Milton, you have the Con." Munich said as he crossed and chimed the door to be let in.

Once inside the ready room he clicked his heels together in proper fashion. "You sent for me Commodore York?"

"Yes." She handed him a PADD with the information on the attack. "I've already informed Doctor Alves and Mr. Batiste. Doctor Barak will talk with Engineering." She waited for him to read over the PADD. "I will be going down to Vulcan to see what I can learn from my friend. I promise you won't lose out on your shore leave."

"Duty before sweethearts yes?" Munich commented and hoped his relief at not losing time with Maria did not show. "I am yours , it is not a question." He glanced up. This explains why the communications spiked suddenly." He commented. "ANy specialized personnel I should see are collected ma'am?"

"No, but have communications look into those spikes. Check for anything shortly before the attack." She gave him an encouraging smile. "Don't worry, we'll be here for a while. This is not going to take more than a few days, and I'll be here for most of it."

Sam checked her chronometer that now read both ship and planet time. "If I leave now, I can chatch T'ala before she leves her office. So, if you'll excuse me, I'll leave you to it."
