Confrontations (part 2)

Location: Jenefran Palace
Timeline: Day 4, evening

"The King has requested you present your evidence to me, he has other matters of State to attend to and regrets he is unable to speak with you himself." Jennifer replied.

[NEW]

"Then we'll wait," Sam replied.

Jennifer's brown eyes instantly filled with disdain as she looked down upon York. "You dare insult the King by defying his wishes? Need I remind you that you are a guest and your participation in this investigation is at the pleasure of the king."

Alexandra had remained silent until this point hiding her concern. She leaned forward to Samantha whispering in her ear. "Samantha something is very wrong here, the way she is speaking to you."

Sam glanced at Alexandra and sighed. Sam was quite aware that something was wrong here. But then, Alexandra hadn't seen Jennifer until now. "I know," she said telepathically.

Orvack looked to Kali and softly spoke to her Telepathically. "I grow tired of this." He than unleashed a mighty roar and moved passed the group towards Jennifer and shoved her out of the way. In one strong motion, he kicked the doors opened to the room and continued on.

"No!" Kali cried, reaching for Orvack to stop him, but she was too late.

Tate hit the ground with a thud but was uninjured by the barreling beast. Instead the adrenaline instantly filled her veins as she rose up quickly looking to the guards around her. "SEIZE HIM!!!!! HE IS TRYING TO ATTACK YOUR KING!" She bellowed out, her voice echoing through the halls as the throne room instantly filled with guards pushing into the chambers. A group of guards circled the Federation away team pointing their spears towards each member.

Her gaze then turned to the Princess. "You have brought an enemy of the Jenefran people to this palace and once again conspired to cause harm to a King, does your treachery know no bounds? There is no escape for you this time Princess. Guards take her to my chambers. As of now, Princess Kalikana has conspired to bring harm upon King Keelan, take her away!"

"Your King is a traitor and you his willing puppet," Kali replied.

Three guards approached the Princess, grasping onto her and pulling her away from the away team.

She now turned to Commodore York. "For every Jenefran he injures or kills, our laws will hold you responsible."

"Let her go. She is the true ruler of Jenefra. If anything happens to Princess Kali," Sam said coldly, "Our laws will hold you responsible. I have proof that your precious King murdered the inhabitants of three Qunari villages. The war is of his making. He's manipulating you and you're so besotted that you're blind to it."

Jennifer began to laugh, first softly turning to a full bodied laugh. "So now the truth comes out. THIS is what you have really been doing all this time, conspiring with traitors! All the while leaving one of your own, ALONE on a planet facing certain death. Now the true face of Samantha York is revealed. No wonder you didn't trust her." She said looking to Alexandra.

"You speak of that which you don't know." Alexandra shot back flatly.

"No. You are conspiring with traitors," Sam said. "Kali didn't bring the Qunari here. I did. She is here under my protection. They both are. Let them go," Sam ordered. "As for Keelan, he knows you didn't kill King Mrowen. And you should know we could do nothing until we had the proof to set you free."

Remy closed his eyes during all the commotion. He couldn't think straight. He couldn't plan anything, he just felt confused by everything that wad doing on. As he opened his eyes, he watched Jennifer, unsure that this was the same woman he fell in love with before. Her words weren't the same. Her actions weren't the same. As the commotion around him grew louder and louder, he began to softly say her name. "Jennifer... Jennifer... Jennifer..." Soon his voice grow louder, as did his frustration for the whole situation. "JENNIFER!"

Jennifer looked over at Remy. His concerned cry seemed to elicit an emotion response from Tate. The expression on her face as well as her inner feelings showed she felt genuine concern. Tate remembered Remy's humor, his comforting touch and how he rushed to save her after the attack by Morat. She began to smile until her mind returned to the present.

The smile faded to a scowl as she looked away from Remy and back to York. "You are in no place to make demands, the Qunari usurper has attacked our council chambers, we have reason to believe the Princess has conspired with him. They will both be held here as is custom with our laws but you should already know that. Should evidence arise to prove their innocence, they will be released."

Jennifer crossed her arms."Now, Samantha York. Should you have evidence to prove their innocence I would suggest you present it now.

Remy felt her response. A part of him was very pleased. "Listen to yourself, Tate! Our council. Our laws." He took a step towards her and stopped. "You are not one of them. You're a Starfleet Officer. You've been on the Calypso long enough to know that if York has something, hearing her out is the best thing because, the crew came together to work out the problem. Its what they do. These people, the Jenefrans, played with your head. They took you away from me. They already tried to take Logan away from me. Now, I'm finding it very hard to keep myself from going crazy here. Please. Please. Listen to us. The very man you are protecting is the same man who accused you of killing the man who came before him. Does that sound like something you are capable of? I know Jennifer Tate and she would never do that, let alone stand beside a man she knew was dirt."

Tate wanted to retort the insult but instead bottled in her frustrations. "Present your evidence."
