Kali wasn't sure she wanted to go anywhere but back to Qunari territory with Orvack. She looked at Sam for a long moment. This was about more than her, it was about her people. She squeezed Orvack's arm and nodded.

[NEW]

Orvack stood by Kali and watched each of the members speaking. He kept his face stern, shoulders broad, and chest firm. He wasn't going to pull away from his protective and dominant state until he learned more about the group that Kali was placing the fate of her people in.

Sam and the others followed their escort to the medical conference room. When they were all inside, she turned to Kali. "Princess Kali, how did you get on board?"

On board? Kali wasn't sure what that meant, but she could tell Samantha York why she was here. Her head was beginning to ache and there was an odd buzzing in her ears. "I ran away from the Palace because I would not marry my father's Vizier. Someone sent assassins after me." She indicated Orvack with a wave of her hand. "He saved me. He does not communicate as we do. I do not know how, but I can hear his words although he does not speak."

Sam's interest was piqued. Was he a telepath? "Hello. I am Samantha York. Can you understand me?"

Kali's head hurt more and she held tighter to Orvack's arm, not sure the cause.

Orvack narrowed his eyes, hearing her words in his mind. He looked at her curiously, noticing she didn't wear, or seemed to have on her, one of there stones. How was that possible? With a stern look, Orvack replied in his deep telepathic voice. "I am Orvack, Leader of the Qunari. I demand you tell me where we are and how you can speak to me in my peoples fashion without the use of one of our sacred stones?" He clenched his fists as prepared to step forward, but felt the tight grip from Kali's hand. He turned to face her quickly, his face now showed deep concern. "Kali? What is the matter?"

"My head," Kali said, her mental tone fainter than it had been before. It was beginning to frighten her and she held on to Orvack for support and protection.

Remy watched carefully, observing Orvack's actions. Not only when he seemed to communicate with Sam, but also how he was with Kali. It was obvious he cared for her. He could feel the compassion and love coming from every action he did toward her. Suddenly, Batiste felt it. The sharp pain Kali was feeling, but he also noticed how she seemed to winch more so when he allowed himself to extend his empathic ability. It was then he realized what was going on. "Captain. I think the girl is highly sensitive to telepathic waves. On a ship like this, eventually she is going to need a biobed. We need to do something."

"Sacred crystals?" Sam asked. "I come from a race of telepaths. We are taught how to use our abilities and how to control them." She looked from Orvack to Kali. "Who are the Qunari?"

She nodded to Remy. "I think you're right." She then turned to Kali. "We need to take you to a biobed. It's so that the doctor can help you feel better."

Kali's eyes flew to Sam's. "No." She pressed against Orvack. "Please."

"It's okay," Sam assured her. "We can silence the noise in your head."

Kali's distress increased. "No. Orvack cannot speak. I will not lose my only means of communicating with him."

"It could get worse, Princess. Don't you get that?!" Remy raised his voice slightly and began to walk toward her. "Stop being stubborn."

Orvack saw Remy advancing and let out furious roar, swiping his claw like hand at him. "Back away, Little creature!". He yelled telepathically. His words were so powerful it was even heard inside the minds of everyone else in the room, not just the little Chief of Intel.

Sam looked at Orvack in surprise. Few species had such a strong telepathic voice.

Orvack looked back to Kali and took her hand in his. "Princess? You must focus, as I taught you." He telepathically spoke to her before reaching into his pocket and removing the bracelet he gave her when she was at his village. "I took this from you before you left. It was a mistake. I should have never done that. I gave this to you.." He paused slightly, a bit hesitant before finally saying. "I gave it to you out of love and such a gift should never be taken away."

Kali looked up at Orvack in wonder. "You love me?" She put a hand on his chest and smiled up at him, unable to hide her joy...just before she fainted.

Sam had watched the interplay carefully. "Bring the Princess this way. We'll put you both in a shielded room. Once she wakes, she will hear you, but no others."

Orvack ran his hand along the side of Kali's face. He slowly moved his hand down to her wrist and placed the bracelet on her wrist before looking over to Remy, than Sam. "If something happens to her..."

"It won't. We just want to help." Remy interrupted.

Orvack looked back to Kali and ran his hand through her hair again. As he spoke telepathically to no one in particular, his words spread to everyone in the room who could hear him. "Since a boy, all I have known is blood shed. All I have witnessed is war. Never taking time to enjoy the moments in between. Then my enemy wondered into my hunting ground and changed my life. Whether brought together by my ancestors or hers, our fates became intertwined and sealed. Our single destinies now bonded together. Like you, this planet has taken much from me. Starting now, it takes no more." He placed his hands under Kali's body and rose up, cradling her in his arms as he turned to face Sam and Remy. "Save us and our people, Federation, and I, and my offspring, shall always stand behind you if you ever need it. This war shall claim no more. Not Qunari. Not Jenefran. Not Federation."

"That is our wish as well," Sam assured Orvack. "She will be fine, once we help her block the telepathic noise. From what I've seen so far, your form of telepathy is both stronger and quieter than any I've seen before. There are too many of us on this ship for her to deal with right now. But we will help her, and then we will talk about how to help your people."

Sam walked out of the conference room and back into sickbay. "We need a room with a telepathic buffer. It appears that the Princess is sensitive to telepathy, but untrained."

"Of course," Rhiannon said. "Bring her this way."

Rhiannon led the way to a cubicle with a biobed with a telepathic dampener equipped.

"Thank you," Sam said to Rhiannon. She indicated for Orback to place Kali on the bed, then activated the dampener.

"Now," she said to Orvack, "We wait for her to wake."
