"We're analyzing the sample you gave us," Sam replied. "Both my Chief Medical Officer and Chief Science Officer have extracted the toxin and are looking into the origin. My doctor would like to do an autopsy on the body to make sure that was the cause of death and not something else." She was aware that this people did not understand all the intricacies of an autopsy, so she tried to explain. "In order to be sure of the true cause of death, the body itself must be analyzed. The King could have been killed in some other way and the toxin introduced into the blood sample you provided. An autopsy will determine that poisoning was the cause of death. Without that, we can only guess."
[NEW]
"The Medical staff cannot tell what kind of a Poison was used by the blood sample?" Keelan's eyes narrowed slightly. "You make it sound as though we are not ... intelligent enough to figure out the method of death of our Monarch and you and your technology must be the only conclusive conclusions as to the method of death?" He was not pleased by his expression. "That this is the first death that we have had to look into the reason of death and make deductions. It was a painstaking process but we are no so backwards we cannot figure what killed our Monarch or other people. Do you really think we cannot figure this out without your Federation being involved?"
Sam raised an eyebrow. He was trying to put her on the defensive. "I didn't say you were unable to analyze the toxin. I said that there may have been another cause of death. I also want to type the blood and have my medical team run a full diagnostic on the body. Your people are welcome to observe to make sure it's all above board. We don't want you to think we're cheating."
Keelan shook his head slightly as he pondered this; the statements were made and now this Officer was still wanting to make it seem like another cause of death qaside from the one Keelan is aware of; the poison that had killed the Last MOnarch was the cause of death and the Healers had verified the facts yet Keelan felt the Federation would want another cause to change the situation. Keelan was sure of the method used to kill the Monarch and it was annoying that this Federation Investigation does not even pick up on the obvious.
"You may verify the evidence with your Medical staff; as you call them, and make your scans so long as you do not defile our Monarch, he was a good King and will be missed. I will not have him becoming an experiment for your .... biology lessons." Keelan said with resolve. "I am told you do not need to cut the body, I do hope that is true in how you test for the same conclusions we have deduced?"
"He will not become an experiment," Sam promised. "Thank you for the consideration."
"Will this test be given to our people before or after the testing for Your Lieutenant Tate?" Keelan asked. "I know Miss Tate is wondering what is taking you so long?"
"We've only had the blood sample for a few hours," Sam said. "We would like to see the body itself. You are welcome to send a representative to oversee the process if you like."
"Would you come in please." Keelan motioned for Tate to approach. "As said; there is no new evidence to support your innocence." He informed. "Commadore; I am sure you know the accused, I want it noted we are not putting her through the usual methods to question Political assassins, she is unharmed and no worst for the experiance." Me motioned towards tate as she entered. "We have extended her certain diplomatic courtacies due to her being from your Federation so long as she continues with her behavior we extend her better treatment of course."
"A few hours too long Commodore." Tate stated as she walked in wearing a finely crafted baby blue silk dress with thin spaghetti straps. "Perhaps if your resources had been better allocated we could be chasing the true murderer." She turned to Keelan bowing. "Your highness, thank you once again."
Sam raised an eyebrow at this. "As you know, in order to do a proper investigation, we need to examine the body. Mr. Keelan has refused to allow us to do so. He has not even allowed us to verify that the blood we were given came from the King and wasn't tampered with," she said, appealing to Tate's experience as an analyst. She knew the signs and was concerned that Tate had become sympathetic to her captors.
"With his highness' blessing Doctor Newmark can take a sample of the king's blood. You will then have your sample." Tate replied stepping forward as she looked down upon York from the raised platform.
This was a very disturbing change of events. She turned to Keelan. "I can have a Doctor down here in a matter of minutes."
Jennifer turned her head to Keelan awaiting his response.
"The body is in an examination Room you may bring down your personnel at any time." Keelan said and nod to Tate. "I will keep The Lady Jennifer as a guest to show how we wish to work with the Federation upon this.
"Very well." Sam was not at all pleased with this current turn of events. She would never have suspected that Tate was so susceptible to Stockholm Syndrome. However, she was not at all surprised that Keelan would exploit it.
Sam tapped her combadge. "York to Newmark, please transport to my location."
=^= Newmark here, I will get my bag and be your location directly.=^= The reply came from the ship, the slight background noise from the Sick Bay equipment he was using could be heard. =^= Three minutes ma'am.=^= Newmark vowed knowing how many steps it was to the transporter.
