Mission: Shadow Dance
Location: Calypso, Science

ON

The Vulcan Engineer and her unusual entourage waltzed into the main science labs with the two Jenefran cameras in tow. She wasn't entirely certain if Lieutenant Hale was in the labs or even available, but logically it was more efficient to arrive first. While they waited, she retrieved an unused PADD and downloaded her analysis results to it.

Ronnie walked into the room and paused, surprised to see the Chief Engineer waiting. "Hi. Can I help you?"

T'Pral turned to the voice. Any surprise at the unexpected officer she had was well hidden. "Perhaps," she replied. "Mister Rroden and I are investigating tampering done to this camera." She indicated the equipment in question. "This second camera is untouched and is serving as our control." She returned her hands to behind her back and squared to Ronnie, "I am looking for Lieutenant Hale to assist us with a molecular scan to locate forensic evidence upon the unit."

"I think she's in one of the labs," Ronnie said. "I'll go get her."

"Very well." T'Pral briefly inclined her head, then returned to her PADD to finish downloading her results and formatting the display for maximum communicative efficiency.

Illise had only returned from examining the garden less than an hour before, and was in a lab going through scans she had recorded on her tircorder. She still had an uneasy feeling about what they had found, and had been eager to examine the data more closely. She looked up from her screen when Ronnie entered.

"Lieutenant T'Pral and a Jenefran are in the main science lab," she told Illise. "They would like your help with a molecular scan."

"Thank you Lieutenant." Illise saved her work and logged off the console. Walking towards her on the way out of the lab, she asked, "How are you today?"

"Definitely feeling the extra weight," Ronnie admitted, rubbing her growing belly. "But I'm coping. How are you doing?"

"I'm alright." Illise replied. "Really looking forward to some time in the holodeck. A friend sent me a new program that I want to try. I'd invite you to join me, but babies and bat'leths don't exactly go together." She smirked and exited the lab. She could see T'Pral on the other side of the main lab working on a PADD.

Ronnie chuckled, "No, they don't. Have fun." She paused in the doorway. "I'll go check on lab 2. See you later."

"Later." Illise waved to Ronnie as she started towards T'Pral with a brisk step. She slowed as she approached her. "How can I assist you, Lieutenant?" Illise asked, forgoing the pleasantries she had just exchanged with Ronnie and getting straight to business.

For what it was worth, T'Pral appreciated it. "Ah, Lieutenant. I require assistance in analyzing this camera for trace evidence. We have determined that it has been tampered with. Perhaps deeper examination will reveal who the perpetrator is." She indicated the second unit, "and our control." She handed the PADD to Illise, "Our findings so far."

Illise reviewed the data, nodding to herself as she read. "I agree with your analysis. The malfunctions are quite suspicious. A localized electromagnetic emission may indeed be the cause." She looked backup at T'Pral. "Alright, lets get started then." She picked up one of the cameras, the control, and brought it over to a counter equipped with more advanced scanning equipment, where set set it down. "Computer," Illise said, her voice raised slightly, "open a new evidence log, designate 2A-36, Jenefran Security Camera, Control." The computer beeped an acknowledgement. Illise gestured for T'Pral to begin.

T'Pral nodded once and regarded the equipment. She lifted a scanner on the counter and passed it over the camera, adjusting the parameters on the fly. Her eyes flicked to the display. "As expected, I am detecting traces consistent of the Jeneferan atmosphere, along with aggregate and calcium carbonate from the building to which it was attached." She turned to Illise, "You are the expert, I would be agreeable to your suggestions of further scans."

Rroden watched quietly, amazed by the technology.

Illise nodded and though for a moment. "Please place the malfunctioning camera here." She indicated to the opposite end of the counter.

T'Pral nodded once and did as was asked. She brought over the unit in question and placed it precisely in the indicated spot.

Once the camera was in place she addressed the empty space above it, speaking to the computer, "Computer identify second item as 'Jenefran Security Camera, Variant." The computer beeped again in acknowledgement. "I suggest we preform the same series of scans on the malfunctioning camera," Illise told T'Pral, "as well as an internal scan for possible differences in components and a bio-molecular scan for residual DNA." She paused for a moment, looking over at Rroden. "All three of our genetic profiles should appear in the test, as we have handled the equipment."

T'Pral nodded in agreement, "A logical procedure." She retrieved the same scanner and proceeded to replicate her scans of the control camera. "If you would perform the bio-molecular scan?" she queried.
