Mission:
Shadow Dance
Location: Jenefra
Timeline: Day 3, morning
Keelan motioned for the small vile of blood to be taken to the Federation Officer. "That is a blood sample from the King." He explained. "We took a sample of the blood before processing, it is the same blood drawas our analysis has used but a separate vile of course...." He paused for effect. "we broke it down for analysis. This sample was set aside knowing you would want to run verification." He had a diplomatic expression. "Plus we believe it is a Federation poison so you would have the best chance of verifying that as well." He tilt his head slightly as he tried not to seem haughty. "I trust I will get the true report of the poison's origin even if it is as we suspect and a Federation produced product?"
Sam carefully took the vial and slipped it into her pocket. "You will get the test results," she promised. "Even if the poison is of Federation design. My Chief Medical Officer will examine it."
She glanced at Damion. "Can my Chief of Security have a look at the crime scene?"
"Captain. Perhaps I should take that. Chain of Evidence." Damion requested before looking over to Keelan. "Yes. I would also appreciate a copy of all the files and notes taken by your investigations team." He took a moment to lean back in his chair, letting out a deep breath. He held back replying to Keelan's comment about the poison being Federation Produced. He also found it curious that the Jenefran seemed to anticipate our need to examine the blood. Damion found it very suspicious.
"I'll hold on to it for now," Sam said quietly.
"I had anticipated your requirements; we would ask no less in a reversal of places, but as to seeing the Crime Scene you will have our Observers to assure the scene is maintained." It was not a request. "Evidence points to your ... Officer having applied the poison, it is in teh report, and I would hazard a guess you wish to deny the accusations. If I really thought you were responsible I would demand your exit from our planet and call for another team for the negotiations." His tone is firm. "Our Beloved King is dead and the people want to know why?" He glare at the Federation representitives. "If it is found to truly be a Federation poison I believe our ... 'talks' will take a turn for teh worst. The council have urged me to take a firmer hand; I am trying to be ... Diplomatic in this case so I will have our people assist in any way you require that will help bring this trageity to a conclusion. I have people ready to escort your perswonnel to the scene of the murder." HE made eye contact with York. "The application is in my People's best interests; as the King per tiem, I wish to maintain our good relations ... for now pending the findings before we make a Rash decision. I am sure you can understand my situation; I was among those who sought this alliance, I do not want to think I did all my efforts in vain?"
"I understand your situation," Sam assured him. "But you must understand ours. We are not asking you to compromise your investigation. However, we do ask the right to do one of our own. To that end, we wish to scan the crime scene with one of our tricorders. That will enable us to recreate it on our ship for a more detailed review of the evidence. My medical team will analyze the blood for any toxins. My security team will look over the crime scene. We are neither accepting nor denying the accusation, we simply want to corroborate what you have found, or perhaps help you find something you missed."
She went on to assure him, "We do not believe that your people are incompetent, but our technology is more advanced and that allows us to see things you might otherwise overlook."
"I still want to know what evidence you have specifically that points to our Officer? So far we have heard about the poison, but not about what leads you to believe it was her." Damion said clearly, looking over to Keelan.
Her finger prints upon the cheek that was used to apply the poison." Keelan said. "The most discoloration of his cheek is where her fingerprints are. The initial evidence points to a touch poison of some sort and the allication left a fingerprint." Keelan answered. "I would also not look at me in 'that' tone as evidence points in your Federation involvement ; our king is dead and your gaze has accusation in it despite all the evidence pointing at your involvement. Perhaps I should call for another Representative as I am getting hostile feelings from you ?" Keelan said as he rose. "We will help wher you ask and continue with our investigation as well. So long as you do nohting elwse to change our confidence in you I welcome you helping solve this. Good Day Cooadore York, you may leave now." Keelan turned and left the room his guards and aidses following.
Sam waited for the council to follow Keelan out before saying anything. "Hostile feelings? That's a curious comment to make. They have no telepathy or empathy that I can detect," she said to Damon. "I don't trust Keelan, I just hope we can prove that Jennifer is innocent."
Then she turned to Damion. "And that is why diplomacy is vital in situations such as this. We lost our chance to talk to Jennifer and may even have lost our chance to have a part in this investigation. So, we'll just have to do what we can from the ship."
She tapped on her combadge. "Away team to Calypso. Beam us up."
