Point of View
Location: The Brig

The doors to the Brig opened as Damion walked in. Behind him was his assistant, Tallas Shirol, who was confused and curious as to why Damion would bring her all the way here. Maybe it was an exercise or something. He was talking to her before about getting more field time and less time in the office huddled in front of a console, but that was where she was at her best. Field time frightened her.
As Damion walked into the Brig, he made eye contact with the officer on duty and gestured his head for him to leave. This was going to be a private moment and he didn’t want anyone, or anything, to get in the way. As the officer left, Damion took to the console and tapped in a code to lock the door. With a few more taps on the console the light over a certain cell turned on, revealing an Andorian woman.
“What’s all this about, Wolfe?” Tallas asked as she looked over to Damion. “Are you trying to scare me off field work?” She joked as she looked back to the cell. “Isn’t she one of the people you brought back from the Night Star?”
“Yes.” He said softly as he walked around the console and over to where Tallas stood. “Of all the ones that I served with on board, she was the one I wanted to bring in personally.”
“Why?” Tallas asked as she took a few steps closer. “Did you guys have a thing?” She added a laughed as she looked over to Damion, whose expression didn’t waver. “Seriously?”
“There was a time, she and her brother Thy’ren, were the only ones who help me together. They kept me from going overboard and crossing the line, but it was already too late for them. Stryfe sank his teeth into them and wasn’t letting go. Thy’ren was trying to protect his sister and Thy’las was protecting something much more precious. In the end, Thy’ren paid the price, I was removed, and Thy’las was left to fend for herself while surrounded by those loyal to a man who was serving them lies on a silver platter.” Damion said as he shook his head.
“What could be that important?” Tallas said softly, looking back to the Andorian woman in the cell.
“You.” Damion replied without hesitation as he looked over to Tallas just as her eyes shifted to him from his response. She stood there confused and quiet as he continued to explain. “That’s your mom, Tallas. Like the rest of us Stryfe approached her to join the crew and used his knowledge of you, and her protective nature, to get her on board. Thy’ren followed suit because Stryfe threatened her life, as well as yours, and he wasn’t about to let anything happen to his only family. Over the months that followed, they did what they could to keep you out of harm’s way. When I got close to them, they told me about you and I offered to help. I used my own connection to watch over you and, eventually, securing you in a place where Stryfe couldn’t find you.”
Tallas looked back to Damion, a shocked look on her face. “You knew this whole time? All the times I tried looking myself and was always shot down and hit firewalls from out of nowhere, that was you?”
Damion nodded slightly. “Wasn’t easy. You are really good, Tallas. I had to enlist outside help in order to keep you from finding out. I was beginning to think you, and Vanya, would go at it for centuries.”
“And now? What’s changed?” Tallas said, raising her voice slightly.
“Stryfe is no longer a threat.” Damion replied softly. “I made a promise to your mother and uncle to keep you out of his reach. I protected you. I knew if you figured it out, you would insist on going to look for her and it would put you in even more danger, so I had to keep you away as long as it took. I didn’t want to keep you in the dark, but I had to. I had a promise to keep and I needed to keep it while Stryfe was out there. That’s why, when the Night Star and Stryfe was located, I was the one to go in. It was personal to me. Renny was my friend. My brother in arms. He, and your mother, are family and I protect my family. Stryfe was responsible for what happened to him and I needed to get him. I wanted to get him. Nothing was going to stop me.”
Tallas looked back at the Andorian woman, her mother, still laying on the cot in the cell. Everything was all so confusing. What he was saying, what she knew, it all seemed to be colliding all at once. She couldn’t make sense of anything right now. All she wanted was to sit in front of a console and watch everything around her fade away like usual.
Damion, feeling the confusion in her mind, knew that the next step was far more important than anything else. He walked back over to the console and tapped in a code which turned the cell’s force field off.
Tallas looked back quickly, feeling a sense of dread come over her. “What are you doing?”
“I’ve giving you guys time to talk. If you have any questions you can ask her. Right now, this is all up to you two. Take all the time you need.” Damion replied softly, looking over to Tallas. “She’ll be hesitant at first, but don’t back down. Keep in mind that this whole thing is as equally confusing and scary for her as it is for you. So, take your time. I’ll let the guy know to leave you guys alone until you leave.” He said as he walked away from the console. Just as Tallas was about to speak, he interrupted. “You can thank me later. I’ll see to it things are running smoothly while you’re busy. Trust me.” He said just as he walked out the door.
Tallas looked back inside the cell, watching her mother shift slightly. Slowly she approached her and stopped inside the cell before clearing her throat and speaking. “Mom?” She said softly, a slight tear in her eye. “Mommy?”
