With the bits and pieces Sam had learned from science and engineering, plus other areas of the ship, she felt it time to call everyone together to discuss their findings and finally resolve the situation.

She once again set out food -- this time a variety of cookies and fruit - -and waited for everyone to arrive.

Leroy walked in with his usual black can with "Full Throttle" sprawled across the face of it. Nodding to the Captain he sat down about half way down the table. "Any clue what's going on yet? I have to sleep in my bird cause my bunk lights would cause seizures."

"We're getting there," Sam assured him.

Illise walked briskly in, still in a low-level panic mode, with a briefcase-seized data backup unit tucked under one arm. With the computer still malfunctioning, all the data was being processed by hand or on disconnected terminals. So all the information they had gathered so far had been downloaded onto a portable unit for use in the briefing.

"Commodore." Illise briefly greeted Sam, then grabbed a few cookies. "Thank you, things have been a bit too busy for a proper meal." Munching on a cookie, she knelt in front of the wall with the view screen and opened a panel. "I'm going to disconnect this from the computer," she said, "and then we can use this backup unit to run the display." As she worked, she was very glad for the engineering extension courses she'd taken at the academy.

Sam nodded to Illise.

Finishing her work, Illise closed the panel and stood back from the screen. She detached a PADD from the backup unit and rebooted the system. The view screen was black for a few seconds, then displayed a confirmation message. She brought up a schematic of the ship showing damaged areas and systems that were off-line due to computer malfunctions, based on latest reports from operations. Satisfied that the system was working properly, she left the display on and walked over to stand near Sam.

"I could really go for a good raktajino right about now." Illise told Sam, "The replicators in the labs are only giving out something that looks like rice pudding." She smiled tiredly. "How are things elsewhere?"

Arnon entered just in time to hear Illise's question. He replied to it as he poured himself a cup of coffee and selected a peice of fruit.

"Well," he said. "For saftey's sake I pulled my Emergency Culinary Hologram from the system in my quarters. I had operations make sure that it was gone. I believe it has been wiped from the system so my quarters should be safe for now. As for my offices, I had operations isolate and remove the EMH we have there. We've never had to use it because I'm a physician, so I handle any medical or psychiatric emergencies of a medical nature that arise. We've tweaked things so that Galen can manifest there if I am unavailable or require assistance. I have more faith in her ability to keep herself isolated from most issues the computer could have. Tell me, have we dealt with the giant white rabbit in that splendid suit? You would be shocked at the number of people on this ship I've discovered have leporiphobia! Apparently there was a special showing of 'Night of the Lepus' for the crew and a number of people were having nightmares already. The appearance of this giant white rabbit hologram has aggravated things."

"I keep the fighters from talking to the ship computer on a regular basis," Leroy said before taking a sip from his can. "But seizure enducing bunk lights aren't supposed to be there. Kind of feels like a rave in my quarters. So far what ever this is hasn't gotten into the birds so that's a plus."

"I'd suggest making fixing the lights a priority," Arnon said. "Sleep deprivation will not only decrease crew efficiency, but it is also a serious health risk that can lead to death if it goes on long enough. I'll also have Markos look into having alternate sleeping arrangements available while you're working on it. If need be, I'll have him shoot out the lights in whatever rooms we use."

"Pilots are trained to sleep where ever," Leroy said looking at the doctor. "Give us a nice spot on the duranium floor and we're gone for a couple hours. Helmet even makes a pretty good pillow half the time."Taking another sip he looked a little depressed when the can emptied, then stood and went to the reclaimer so he could have it disposed of. "So you don't have to worry about shooting out the lights in my room, but I could ask around and we can take care of it ourselves if need be."

Drani entered, holding a cup of Gavaline tea. "I'd recommend against shooting out any lights. My staff and I don't need anymore injuries," she stated, taking a seat.

"I don't recommend shooting out the lights, either," Sam said. "Ops would only have to replace them all."

Sam turned to the science officer. "My replicator has been good so far," she said. "But Milliways on Deck 42 has had some very odd holographic creatures that have defied commands. And the Marines report sounds of AK47s going off at odd hours. Illise, what have you found?"

"As some of you are already aware, we had a near miss with a cosmic string earlier, which caused the warp core to destabilize and shut down. The intense gravitational forces also caused some damage along the hull, and disrupted power to several sections." Illise said as she too poured herself some coffee. She paused in her report to take a sip. It wasn't raktajino, but it was good.
