500 words; about a 3 minute read
Mission:
Point of View
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: After "of shoes, ships, sealing wax part 2."
Victoria was busy finishing healing a fractured arm of a security crewman who had an encounter with a sumo wrestler projected by the computer. "There you are," she smiled at the man. "Good as new."
"Thanks, doc." The crewman rubbed his arm and headed out the door.
Victoria then recognized a presence she hadn't sensed in a long time. She looked up to see a young woman wearing a Marine Aviator uniform walking through the sickbay doors.
"You have to stop getting these men all turned on," Jae commented, jabbing a thumb at the crewman that she had passed.
"Jae!" Victoria rushed to embrace her sister. "What are you doing here?"
"I've been assigned to the Calypso as a pilot with the squadron," Jae replied, smiling brightly. "It's good to see you in uniform again."
"Thank you. Admiral Lee convinced me to rejoin. So tell me, have you had time to get settled in?" Victoria couldn't believe her little sister was in Starfleet and assigned to the same ship as her nonetheless. She could remember Jae being small and protecting her during the Dominion Occupation of Betazed.
"Barely. This ship is crazy. First I arrive when the power is out, so I have to sleep in the hangar bay, which I don't mind but when I try to get something to eat, I get attacked by a freaking dragon!"
Victoria couldn't help but smile at Jae, almost laughing. "Sorry, we've been having issues with the computer and holographic systems."
"It's not funny!" Jae replied, laughing as she playfully punched Victoria in the arm. "Luckily I was just assigned quarters, finally."
"That's good to hear. If not, I was going to offer you to stay..."
"Nuh uh," Jae interrupted. "I need my space and if I bring a guy over, I don't need to worry my sister barging in. Speaking of which, have you met anyone yet?"
"Yes. His name is Arnon," Victoria replied with a grin.
"Is he cute?" Jae asked.
"No, he's actually butt ugly," Victoria joked.
"Well it would be the first ugly one you've had," Jae commented before being immediately punched in the arm immediately by Victoria. "Oww!" she said, laughing.
"I've never dated anyone ugly," Victoria protested.
"What about that Klingon?" Jae replied.
"I was drunk! That doesn't count!"
Jae laughed hard as she recalled the image of the half-naked klingon running through the woods after Victoria before tripping and falling face first into a pile of manure in the pasture where they had kept horses.
Victoria couldn't help but laugh as she recalled the image too. "Well, while you're here, you better get your initial physical. I'll go and grab a nurse and then I have to check up on some patients. We'll talk some more later." It was against policy for physicians to give physicals to family members.
"Sounds good, sis," Jae replied. It felt good to be with her big sister again. She owed Victoria alot for the times she had saved her.
