Mission: Point of View

[CONTINUED]

[OLD]

A small hatch on the bridge opened as Commander Tate appeared crawling out after having ascended the various maintenance shafts on the ship. She closed the hatch behind her and approached York. "Commodore. I've began to run preliminary checks on the systems to see if 'she' had anything to do with this. So far I haven't found any external intrusions or signs that either she or one of her proxies is responsible for this, doesn't mean I'm counting it out but until we find the problem, I'm certainly not liking this."

[NEW]

"Thank you," Sam said. "I don't like this, either, but so far it doesn't look like her work." Still, she couldn't rule out the possibility, not just yet.

The doors to the bridge turbo lift opened slowly, as they were forced from the inside via the emergency lever. When they were open enough, Illise and the OPS technician climbed out onto the bridge.

Illise quickly walked to the science station. "Sorry Commodore," she apologized to Sam on her way, "The turbo lift went haywire and trapped me on deck 3. This gentleman here was kind enough to come dig me out." She smiled gratefully at the young man. "Being so close, I thought it best to come to the Bridge first..." She reached the science station and the science officer on duty looked at her and shook his head. Glancing down at the console she saw that it was flickering on and off, and in the brief moments when the it was on the data being displayed didn't make any sense. "...it looks like the lifts aren't the only things acting strangely."

"Good thinking," Sam said. "Glad you made it."

All the lights bean to flicker off and on.

"Computer, lights," Sam said, hoping that it would either do some good, or give her more information.

"It's a jolly holiday," the computer replied.

The lights came back on and stayed on.

"Computer, what happened with the lights?" Sam asked.

"Ask Poppins. She did it," the computer replied in a British accent.

"That's not creepy at all..." Illise said aloud to no one in particular. She gave up on the console and pulled out her tricorder instead and began scanning the general vicinity for anything unusual. What she saw didn't make her feel any better.

"Commodore, my scans show malfunctions in multiple systems throughout the ship. I'm picking up some unusual energy readings, but the signal is too intermittent for my tricorder to isolate." Illise reported. "The equipment in the science labs should be able to tell us more. I'll head down there and let you know what we find."

"Thank you, lieutenant," Sam said. "Good luck!"

Mara had been sitting at her station attempting to figure out what was happening with the ship. Why the power had gone out when she overheard a conversation between Commodore York, and a new character that had suddenly appeared on the bridge from a hatch. She didn't ask questions about it but noted it. It would be something she'd have to ask about later.

"Thank Commodore." Illise said to Sam, "It certainly couldn't hurt to have some right now." She crossed to and opened the hatch to one of the jefferies tubes. She most certainly was not getting back in the turbo lift, and she did not trust the computer right now to execute a site-to-site transport. It was going to be a long crawl through the ship to Deck 15.

[Sick Bay]

Galen continued analyzing the unusual code that she had observed in the Main Computer. Her initial concern was that it was a virus, however her diagnostics did not identify it as such.

The computer appeared to be reviewing the ship's entire database, accessing systems and then just as quickly abandoning them. Galen observed ship-wide malfunctions in the ship's power distribution, internal illumination, gravity, and replicator system - . These systems would behave erratically for a few seconds to several minutes, and then most would either go off-line or return to normal operation. Some systems however, continued to malfunction.

Suddenly Galen stopped her search. For 0.002 seconds, her internal chronometer had read A.D. 802,701, responding to input from the Main Computer. This caused a certain amount of alarm. Could whatever what happening to the Main Computer also affect her systems? Could there be some sort of...

---UNKNOWN ERROR---

Galen had to get to the Bridge immediately, there was no time to waste. The ship had been boarded and had there were wounded. If the Naval Command structure fell, the Union itself was surely to follow.

Accessing the ship's internal holographic systems, Galen transferred herself to the Bridge.

[Bridge]

Galen suddenly appeared on the Bridge, holding a holographic 17th century medical case and a look of profound confusion on her face. The scene before her was not at all what she had expected.

"Admiral," she addressed Sam, "where are the wounded?"

Sam was surprised at the appearance of the EMH. "They've already been triaged and evacuated," she replied, trying to figure out where the EMH thought she was.

Galen looked around the bridge. The Bridge? What was she doing here? "I apologize Admiral," she said quickly, "I must of received a faulty report..." She quickly reviewed her records to try to discover where the report had come from, making a request of the Main Computer for the origin of the information. It was terribly inefficient to have her running around chasing after - ERROR -

"I apologize General," Galen started again, using the proper form of address, seeing as they were on land and not at sea, "I've just received a report stating that medical reinforcements are needed at the Front. Seeing that everything has been taken care of here, I must go immediately." The holographic medical case she was carrying changed into a brown World War One medics bag with a red cross inside a white circle printed on the side. "If you will excuse me." Then as suddenly as she had appeared on the bridge, she vanished.

First the computer, now the EMH. They needed to get to the bottom of this ASAP. Sam tapped her combadge, but with the main computer acting as strangely as the EMH, she changed her mind. She hoped once the computer was repaired, the EMH would be, too. She walked into her Ready Room to do some research of her own.
