Mission: Point of View
Location: Fighter SF-023
Timeline: Current

Jae Drani had been traveling for quite some time in the small craft, pushing it's range. She was getting low on deuterium. "Leave it to my sister to be out in the middle of nowhere," she commented to herself. She couldn't wait to surprise her big sister, whom she heard was the Chief Medical Officer aboard the Calypso. She shrugged her shoulders and flexed her feet. The long trip was taking a toll on her body. She couldn't wait to get into a relaxing shower aboard the Calypso.

A beep sounded in the cockpit. "What the hell?" The Calypso's transponder signal had gone dark. Jae scanned several frequencies to try and locate the transponder signal once again but to no avail.

She then opened communications on the Calypso's main frequency. "Flight Sierra Foxtrot Zero Two Three to USS Calypso." There was only silence. "USS Calypso, this is Flight Sierra Foxtrot Zero Two Three, come in." Again, there was silence. She scanned several frequencies and not finding any activity on any subspace channels. "Sierra Foxtrot Zero Two Three to USS Calypso, if you are receiving this, I am en route and am bingo on fuel."

Again, there was only silence. "Well, shit," Jae cursed as she checked her long range sensors. There was a contact half a light year away at the last known coordinates of the Calypso.

A few minutes later, the fighter approached the ship. "Odd," she commented at seeing the vessel adrift without running lights. The sight of such a large vessel as the Galaxy Class USS Calypso was unnerving to her. She scanned the ship and picked up various life signs but very little power from backup generators. An alarm sounded in her cockpit. 'Great, only 5 minutes of fuel left,' she thought as she silenced the alarm. She then patched into the ship's internal comm frequency. "Flight Sierra Foxtrot Zero Two Three to USS Calypso. I am on station with five minutes of fuel left. Permission to land immediately if possible."

A brightly painted Scorpion fighter buzzed the unknown fighter, causing its weapons lock sensors to explode in light and noise. "Flight Sierra Foxtrot, this is the Wing Commander. State your business or be fired upon."

Jae sighed. 'Hostile, aren't we?' she thought. "I am Lieutenant Jae Drani and I'm here to report for duty aboard the Calypso.

"Stop all forward momentum and power down your engines," Leroy ordered as he buzzed the ship again, his close range sensors running a full scan on the ship. "You might be bingo fuel, but I have no reason to allow you or anyone else on board at this moment." Pulling his ship to a stop a mere thousand meters in front of the new comer, powering his weapons up. "I won't ask again."

Jae did as instructed as her braking thrusters fired, and then crossed her arms as she picked up the other fighter's weapons lock. "Do you greet all new members of the crew this way? And what happened to the Calypso?"

Ignoring the question, Leroy continued to scan the shuttle. "What do you know about Alice?" was all he asked as he scanned the computer system for her orders. "And where are your orders?"

Jae was confused. Who was this Alice? And why should she know her? "I don't know an Alice and my orders are with me on my PADD." She took out her PADD and established a data link with the other fighter and transmitted a copy. "There is a copy of my orders."

Checking the computer, Leroy looked through his cockpit behind him to the open door for the fighters. "Your now on duty. Get in, land, grab a new bird and get out here. You'll be briefed when you get back out here." Turning his thrusters and engines back on, Leroy shot up then around the fighter. He sent orders in for it to be cleaned and a fighter dragged from the mothballs for the newcomer.

"Thank you, sir," Jae responded, though she hated the thought of being in the fighter any longer.

A few minutes passed as Leroy did another high speed pass of the bridge. "Lieutenant, are you going to join the rest of the gang or are you going to sit in there and wait?" Sending out long range scans, he waited for someone or something to show up with a derelict Federation Starship just waiting in empty space.

-^-Commodore, have we looked at the possibility of abandoning ship?-^-

"Not an option, master sergeant," came the reply from Commodore York. "We're going to fix her. What have you found?"

Jae sighed as she heard the voice of the wing commander come over the comm, asking for her. She was in her new fighter but had grabbed a ration pack during the switch over--he hadn't eaten in nearly 9 hours. "I'll be spaceborne in a moment," she replied as she eased the throttle forward and the fighter raced out of the shuttlebay. The increased her throttle and she located Leroy's fighter.

-^-All we have is that because of the unlinked computer systems for the fighters, we aren't affected. If that main door closes again, we wont be able to get it open. And if that shield goes down, then we don't have a bay anymore.-^- Clicking over to the rest of his flight, he looked over the amount of fighters he had out in space. "I need Phoenix and new guy to stay out here with me. Everyone else get some rest. Eight hours I need Bojay, Wedge, and Andille out, then I'll be back out with two others. Everyone else get some rest."

"On my way," Phoenix said. She'd been checking her fighter so she'd be ready when Leroy needed her. At his order, she climbed inside and ran a quick check. "Ready to launch," she announced.

She waited for clearance, and headed out to join Leroy.

"Alright people, lets get to work. Keep the engines hot just in case the ship jumps into warp.

"I sure hope not. There isn't an M-class planet around here," Phoenix quipped. "Welcome to the Calypso," she added to the new pilot.

"Yea," Jae responded sarcastically.

"Is there a problem Lieutenant?" Leroy asked looking over at the new fighter and pilot. "Something not to your liking?"

"Just not thrilled at the situation. " Jae replied as she checked her sensors.

"None of us are Lieutenant, but this is the job that you signed up for. I can always send you back home if you wish," Leroy said shaking his head. "But either way keep your eyes open and you'll be out of your bird as soon as we can."

Jae wasn't the happiest person at the moment, having travel for twelve hours alone in a fighter, only to find her assignment adrift without power and get threatened by the wing commander, and have to to do another 8 hour shift. 20 hours in a fighter would make anyone cranky. She wondered if her big sister was ok. 'Probably helping someone,' she thought as she glanced at the Calypso. She turned back to look at Leroy's fighter. "Aye, sir," she snapped her fighter into a hard turn, increasing speed as she began a standard CAP around the Calypso.
