Mission:
Of Gods and Men
Location: USS Seina
“You’ve returned!”
Mara was greeted with when she stepped around the corner and into the long hallway that lead to the entrance into the runabout which she was about to take to the Calypso. She knew that voice. She smiled, and nodded to the Ensign that flew the runabout to get her to the starbase.
“Yes, I am.” She responded vocally as she approached the Ensign. “It appears that my transport ship decided it was time to quit working.” She added in a teasing tone.
The Ensign nodded with a grin. “Don’t you just hate it when that happens?” She asked of Mara.
Mara chuckled. “Yes, I do indeed.”
At this point she had already made her way to the entrance of the runabout. The Ensign stepped aside motioning for Mara to go in first. Mara thanked her, and then stepped inside. There were others already on the runabout. Each of them was behind a console already working.
“You can drop off your bags in the back ma’am.” Ensign said from behind Mara. “We will be heading out in a couple of minutes.”
Mara nodded to the Ensign heading towards the other door that lead to the back of the runabout.
“We should have you at the Calypso in about two hours so if you’d like to get some rest you are welcome to. We will come get you when we get near.” The Ensign added as she headed for the front console.
Mara nodded once again. “Thank you. Much appreciated.”
She made her way to the back section where she was before. She placed her bags down, and took a seat on the empty bed. She took a deep breath and grabbed a PADD from her bag. She began reviewing the information displayed.
She must have dozed off because the next thing she remembers is someone lightly shaking her. In her half sleep state she can hear them calling out to her. She mumbled something back then in an instant her jumped up. The Ensign that had greeted was standing next to the bed.
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to wake you but we will be in transported range in a couple of minutes. We’ve already made contact with the ship and the transporter room is expecting you.” She explained.
Mara rubbed her eyes gently “Thank you. I appreciate you waking me up.”
“It was no problem at all.” The Ensign said as she turned to head back to the front. She stopped for a moment looking back. “I almost didn’t want to wake you up...you looked very peaceful sleeping.” She winked at Mara in a teasing kind of way then stepped out.
Mara shook her head. “Does that mean I don’t look peaceful normally…?” She asked the question out loud but there was no one to answer her. She chuckled. “Great, now I’m talking to myself.”
She got up from the bed collecting her things and headed to the front of the runabout. As soon as she stepped in the front she was greeted with.. “We can beam you over whenever you are ready.”
Mara nodded. “Thank you for the ride.”
The Ensign nodded. “It was my pleasure. If you are ever back at the starbase stop by and say hi. My name is Anna O’Day.”
“Will do.” Mara smiled at the Ensign and then just like that she disappeared from the runabout about and began to appear in the transporter room aboard the USS Calypso.
