Mission:
Of Gods and Men
Location: Calypso
ON
Samantha and the away team beamed back to the ship after a very productive meeting with Frenatus and the rebels. She had high hopes that he would now work with the rebel faction to come up with a more equitable solution to how to best guide the inhabitants of the planet than pretend to be their god and demand tribute.
But, just to be sure, she would ask Starfleet to send a ship by once a year to keep an eye on the planet's progress.
She stopped by her quarters just long enough to take a quick shower and change into her uniform, and then headed to the bridge.
"Commander Munich, report."
Stood in front of the Captain's chair built not in it,he had been following all the regular routines and regulations that he could fit into his command time. Once York had confirmation as arriving Munich had taken to his ilitary School and the like to be a statue on the bridge; more relived that she had come back in one piece along with the Away Team.
"She Iz not in the exact shape you left her." Munich said. "The Calypso is operational nearly 92%; the Engines took a strain and the power grid was nearly fried by whatever cast us out of orbit like a toy." Munich began. "The Warp Drive is still under repair, we can make Warp seven point six but would recommend warp six for best crusing and to allow repairs to continue with other systems. Communications , sensors , life support and Tactical systems are all under repair but well in operational limits. One might say we are a bit battered but nowhere near out. " He looked at York. "The fighters are back on board and all systems are porting green status." He bow slightly. "I relinquish Command back to you Commodore York."
"Thank you, Commander. You stand relieved of command." She sat back in her chair, glad to be home again. She tapped the comm button. "All stations, report."
She turned to science. "Run an analysis of the planet, is it in a drought cycle?"
Maria, who was still on the bridge until Illise relieved her, ran the scans. "Yes, ma'am. Without intervention, the planet has a 87% change of becoming a desert."
"Thank you," Sam said. "I would like a report on the planet to send to Starfleet."
"Yes, ma'am."
"Helm, take us out of the system," Sam said.
"The subspace Communication network is operational Commodore." The Officer at the Comm station reported. "All relays and connection for astrometrics is clear." She reported.
"Thank you," Sam said. She wasn't looking forward to writing her report to Starfleet, so she chose to do it later, after she had time to process what happened.
How did you tell Starfleet Command you met an alien who altered the natural development of a planet's inhabitants and simply left him there? On the one hand, he wasn't part of the Federation and didn't live by their rules. On the other hand, she really wasn't going to let the people die out simply because that would have been the natural progression. She honestly didn't think the inhabitants were at a point in their development to be able to get off world, or to change enough to survive. She just hoped her report would convince Starfleet that she made the right decision.

Illise sat at her desk filling in her report. A full account of her and Spartacus' incarceration was required, as well as any observations she had made of Frenatus himself and the people of Gekkaro.
Things had not gone exactly according to plan. Besides being captured, there was the very visible incident of the Commodore tossing the god-pretender across the courtyard, and several injured acolytes. The end of the matter had not been any more typical than the rest of mission, but then the damage to the natural development of the society had already been done. Frenatus had destroyed the culture in order to save the people. Illise had her reservations about the method of their salvation, but she had no wish for those people to starve.
Illise attached her findings on Frenatus' technology to the report. During the negotiations she'd discovered her missing tricorder, and took the opportunity to examine the telepathic generator. The results where quite interesting. No doubt several science teams would spend the next decade trying to duplicate it's effects. In the right hands such a device could be a very valuable tool, but it also had considerable potential for abuse; not unlike the use to which Frenatus had put it. She made sure to include a detailed account that abuse in her report.
Finishing the report, she sent it to Commodore York. Then since she was due in sickbay for a post-mission exam, she quickly checked on the status of one of her personal projects. Still no results. She sighed in frustration, then locked her terminal and headed out into the corridor.
[Sickbay]
Leroy was standing off to the side, waiting his turn to be checked out for the long periods of time that he had had no gravity in the shuttle. It was a feeling he relished, but not something that was exactly good for him. In his hand was a pass, transmitting the last of the OCS paperwork he had done while waiting for the Calypso to return to the system. Waving one of the Marines that had been on the planet ahead of him, he glanced up as the doors opened. "Lieutenant Hale, nice trip?" He asked.
Illise smiled at the pilot. "Oh you know, exotic locations and interesting people." She waved her hand grandly, then continued with mock sincerity. "Don't let the false lizard-gods, religious fanatics, kidnapping and rebels get you down. As a destination spot, Risa's got nothing on Gekkaro." She winked at him. "I especially recommend the comfy cells that they have in the palace."
"Six by Eight? Or four by tens?" Leroy asked with a smile. "That's nothing compared to the desolate but easily livable fourth planet where you'll spend days sleeping in or under your wing before being spotted by Romulans." Shrugging he chuckled. "The vacation pay is something to be desired though."
