[OLD]
Jennifer's scowl did not change as she wanted to tear the little toad apart, however he was right. Hunter should have known better and so should she. She simply tossed the PADD across the room onto a couch. "Then maybe YOU should take that up with Admiral Hunter." she replied turning her head away from him studying his decor further. "But I will have a drink before I go, something strong."
[NEW]
Remy went back to looking in his fridge as he spoke up again from the kitchen. "I am sure I can find something for you, Tate. Something strong. I am sure it will be cold. If not than just press it against your shoulder. I am sure it will freeze up in no time." He added a bit of a laugh as he removed a bottle and walked over to a cabinet to remove two glasses. "So, why are you here, anyway? Not in my quarters, but I mean on the ship. Surely there has to be another reason for you to be on board aside from being a general pain in my-" Before he could finish the sentence, his tone changed as he seemed to jump to something completely unrelated. "Bourbon, Whiskey, or Vodka?"
"Vodka." Jennifer replied dropping her arms to her hips as she continued looking around the room. If anything pressing the beverage against her shoulder would have boiled the drink. "If you must know I am assisting Admiral Hunter in the investigation into Commander Vance's death since it honestly seems no one on this ship is either capable or cares enough to put any real effort into it."
Remy returned with a bottle of Vodka and two glasses in his hands. As he placed them on the living table, he opened up the bottle and began to speak. "Yes, because everyone on this ship is incompetent." He paused and looked to her, smirking a bit. "In case you missed it, that was sarcasm." He added before finished pouring her drink and placing he bottle back on the table. He walked away, neglecting to pour his own drink as he removed one of the PADDs from his counter before walking back to Jennifer. "You ever hear that old saying about what happens when you assume something?" Remy said as he placed a PADD in front of her and took a seat in his usual chair.
On the PADD were several reports from other ships, informants, and underground connections that Remy was able to use in such a sort time. Each one came back negative or undetermined. The PADD was in relation to the disappearance of Alexandra Vance and the questions regarding her death. Attached were several theories and question concerning what happened and possible means of escape that could have been used. Jennifer would be able to gather from the PADD that this was one of Remy's personal investigations that began from the moment he received notice of her death and it hadn't yet been closed. Nor, from the looks of it, would it ever. He reached over and took the bottle by the neck. As he spoke, he poured some into his glass without glancing up to look at Jennifer.
Jennifer stepped forward taking both a PADD and a glass of Vodka from the table. She began to survey the PADD as she took a sip from the glass. The beverage was smooth and did not burn as it went down her throat. "This is really good." she said smiling to him. "The drink and the reports."
"There is a reason why Max allowed us a modified shuttle and leeway. He knows what we are capable of as a unit and how much we can get done with the resources we have at our finger tips. I have a multitude of connections at my disposal and, what you see on that PADD, is only the tip of the iceberg. I am still waiting on others to return to me and some are going to great lengths to find out what I need." He paused for a moment to take a drink before looked over to Jennifer with a smirk. "Sorry if you were expecting just a pretty face." He winked before taking another sip of his drink.
Jennifer's smirk returned once again as she hid her face behind the PADD blushing a little. "I would like to think the meeting has far exceeded my expectations." she replied. She wondered why Max was only giving him part of the story. If he was to investigate her death then he would at least need the whole story. She bit her bottom lip once again as she took a sip from her drink.
Remy looked up from his drink and raised a brow. "Are you talking about the Cardassian Woman?" He said quickly as he picked up her thoughts almost without trying. "Oh I have the whole story, it's just not back yet. One of my informants is on Cardassia. A Former Member of the Obsidian Order who owes me a favor, and technically his life, is the one that is going to great lengths to get me information. Live threatening information. So, for the record, if he does during his investigation I am out a very good and loyal informant. I expect to be well compensated. The lengths I go to for you people. A simple Thank you would be appreciated instead of criticism."
"I am not part of these people." Jennifer shot back slightly angered immediately raising her mental barriers. A Betazoid, the eyes should have given him away but she was too busy oogling. She turned her back to Remy, looking blankly at the wall. "You should spare him his time and life. Gul Morat is a ghost, I'm not even entirely certain she exists anymore. Only two people have ever seen her and she was only a girl. A sad story really, but it seems thanks are not common courtesy around here. Alexandra gave her life for these people and all her CO could do was criticize her. It was quite disgusting really."
Remy placed his glass slowly on the table and looked at Jennifer curiously. "You know, the funny thing about ghosts? Sometimes when you think they don't exist, someone pops up with proof that they exist and, when you try to prove them wrong, you end up proving them right." He said softly as he leaned forward in his seat and spoke softly. "Would you like to see proof ghosts exist?" He said, in an almost teasing fashion.
