Mission: Of Gods and Men
ON
Spartacus more or less lounged about while she opened herself to the auras all around her, she kept her eyes closed to allow more focus and adding to her look of being passive when te guards opened the door, two very large men stayed near the door as a woman of delicate features and long braided black hair came a few paces into the room.
"You are to come with me, it is time for you to talk with Our God." She smiled. "You should be honored he has made time for you." She admitted honestly.
"I am not one to disappoint a god." Spartacus said as she slid off the bed and into her sandals., nodding to Hale.
*Not Lying... she not lying... * Spartacus concentrated to Hale.
Illise casually rose from the bed. Ever since the other woman had contacted her telepathically earlier she had been trying to keep her mind quiet enough to hopefully hear if she sent any more messages. It was for a brief second only an impression of honesty, but them she heard. Illise concentrated on a feeling of acceptance, hoping it translated as 'okay, got it'.
"Please hurry as Our God has made time for you and his time is precious." The Girl added. "Please come along." she turned to leave; knowing it would not take long for them to be ready.
"Then we must not keep him waiting." Illise said to the woman, coming to stand beside Teenah.
Spartacus took the lead as she would be able to read better if she entered first and got the 'raw' Aura impressions.
"I am right behind you." She felt a darker aura from the men, it was not mixed with the pinkness of lust, they did not trust the women and were almost angered at having to be the ones to watch over them. "I will not give you trouble you know?" Spartacus got the impression of being loss of a bet or something brought the larger guard here. "Besides, what could a little woman like me do to a man like you?" She smiled politely. "I bruise easily, and blood is hard to get out of clothing."
The man glared and just let the women pass.
Illise followed closely behind Teenah, staying silent but polite. When Teenah mentioned blood she suddenly had a uncomfortable thought. Nothing said 'alien' like the wrong color blood. The Orion woman might have changed the color of her skin for this mission, but inside she was still the same. Illise was quiet certain the thought had already occurred to Teenah - how could it not? She quickly filed the possibility under 'that-damn-bridge-when-we-come-to-it', smiled back at the glaring guard and kept walking.
The two women were led into a large chamber. At the far end was a dais with a tall lizard-like creature sitting on a large wooden chair.
There were several chairs on the edges of the room, but the center was empty. "Come," the lizard creature said. "I am Frenatus. Tell me why you are here."
"I am Spartacus." She said with a smile and a bow. "I have come to observe the society and how it is working with your guidance upon them?"
Smooth Illise thought, standing a few step behind Teenah. She followed suit and respectfully bowed to the creature. "I am Hale. We apologize if our presence here has caused any undo alarm."
Frenatus lifted Illise's book, opened it, and then removed the tricorder. "And how do you explain this?" he asked. "You are from that starship, are you not?"
"It gave us transportation here." Spartacus said honestly. "We brought no advanced weapons just that sensory decide to record data and observations." She was being as honest as she felt she could, keeping as much eye contact as Frenatus would allow, the best gauge of one's soul is through the gateway of the eyes and it also showed she paid attention to him.
The females were telling the truth, but still he wasn't comfortable with their presence. "And why is your ship here?" he asked.
"I have not been able to communicate with our ship so I am not sure where it is at the moment?" It was the truth and a way for her to maybe get an idea of their situation. "Originally it was just to observe and pick us up when we are done with our observations." Spartacus liked using truth whenever she could, it was less to remember. "If they left I can only hope it was to go aid someone else somewhere, that is the only reason I could see them leaving us unattended and alone." She shifted slightly. "May I ask what you know of why I cannot contact the ship?"
"That is not what I asked," Frenatus said. "I asked why your ship came here. What your purpose is for being here, on Gekkaro." He deliberately did not answer her second question. Not yet, anyway.
"We were merely passengers aboard the vessel, and were not privy to the details of it's current mission." Illise told the him in a respectful but apologetic tone. The truth could only stretch so far. "We are studying the civilizations in this sector, and had hoped to get more detailed cultural data with personal observation. Again I apologize. It was never our intention to cause trouble. This is the first time anything like this has happened."
Spartacus watched the Lizard man for a reaction; she thought it was best of she keep her opinions to herself, Hale was giving good reasoning for why we are here. She agreed with a greater portion of the facts being relayed, they were just coming along for the ride. WHat Spartacus had in her mind is the reason for being here, the fact his exertion of energy to do his tasks is what gave him away.
"Your use of technology and energy is what gave you away and brought a survey of this planet." Spartacus answered. "The culture did not have that kind of technology so a curiosity was naturally raised and we are trying to observe; under better conditions, would have mingled and found out what is going on and to what extent the Technology is being used to influence the culture?" She shrugged. "We tend to not interfere with the natural progression of a culture so someone else doing it brought us here."
"I am a GOD," he said, his voice rising. "Your pity attempts to turn my people against me have not gone unnoticed. You and your FEDERATION believe that you and only you know best. You destroy everything in your path and mold it into your perfect little society. You will not do so here." Half truths did not allay his suspicions, they only strengthened them. These interlopers would comply or they would be swept aside, like all the others.
"I beg to differ." Spartacus said. "We want the same thing, this culture to progress to be the best they can become." She tilted her head slightly. "You seem to know 'of' the Federation but you do not know us that well." She said. "We are here to see what is happening and how the culture is progressing. Perhaps if you told us why you picked this specific culture to be your 'Choosen People' it might help to understand your purpose. You did not come here at random to bless this society with your gifts. I do not think you really know what we want anymore than we know your plans. We came to observe and if you really are what is best for this society then I will relay that to the Federation , you seem from a first impression to be forcing yourself and your will on these people, I just wish to know the real intention, the way you protect I can tell you care for them, what else do you have to offer them in the long term plans I am sure you have?"
She also kept a steady vigil on his aura, the brighter colors were benevolent while the darker colors might pose a problem should they arise?
"Impertinent interloper!" Frenatus barked, raising his voice. "It is your Federation that sticks its morals where they aren't wanted. You know best, so you make sure you mold every culture you encounter into a mirror of your own twisted sense of right and wrong. You have no idea who I am or what I do here, and yet you dare judge me? You come to MY planet, sew seeds of discord among MY people and DEMAND that I tell YOU my plans? As if I must prove myself worthy of your pithy..."
He turned and signaled to one of his acolytes. "Take them back to their room. Give them food and water but do not interact with them. They will poison the minds of this people if given half a chance."
"Are you not doing the same thing?" She rose so not to give resistance. "You came as a God, we came to learn about them." Spartacus said calmly. "In discussion comes understanding, and is it not 'Their Planet' that you have claimed to be a God over?" She moved slowly. "Perhaps once you have camed down we can exchange ideas and come to an understanding, that would be good for both sides as we are not here to force anything but to learn."
"You overstep your authority," Frenatus said. A crackle of lightning sizzled through the air as he spoke. "When you are ready to accept your place, you may request another audience. Until then, you are done."
Four acolytes came to the two women and led them gently but firmly out of the audience chamber and back to their cell.
