Mission:
Of Gods and Men
Location: Gekkaro
[CONTINUED]
[OLD]
Illise waved it back and forth as a test, noting that the signal was definitely stronger to the east. "Now we're getting somewhere." she said to no one in particular, excitement creeping into her voice. She snapped the back cover into place and got up from the bed. "Get changed." She told Spartacus, "we need to find the captain."
[NEW]
"What have you found?" Spartacus dropped what she was wearing off her body and reach for the home spun clothing she had purchased. "You are lucky that I just bathed." She moved to get the scents for her body in a practiced ease before she started to put on a new clean dress. "I do not want to be a headache to you." She slipped into the dress and the gold braid around her waist was so natural it flowed while she talk. "SO what do we have for the Captain?"
Illise tuned the tricorder towards Spartacus so she could see. "It's not much really, but maybe it can help us track the source of the interference." She moved it back and forth again, watching the indicators rise and fall, stabilizing when she held it steady towards the east.
[Arnon]
Arnon was reflecting yet again on how much more pleasant it was to share a room with Victoria Drani than to share one with Jenkins. It wasn't just because when he shared a room with Victoria he also shared her bed. No, not just that. It was for a variety of other reasons, not limited to Jenkins smelly feet, flatulence from both directions, and loud snoring.
He'd finally put a few coins down on a small room to himself and had been blissfully asleep when he heard a high pitched whine coming from the direction of Ilise Hale and Teena Spartacus' room. Arnon put a pillow over his head. Whatever the ladies were up to, Arnon didn't want to know. He sighed blissfully when the loud whining stopped and went back to sleep setting his subconscious to the task of figuring out how to deal with the lightning bolt hurling lizard man.
[Kara and Cam's Room]
Standing in front of the window, Cam was looking out at nothing in particular, but was thinking over thier current situation. "i should've pushed harder for a Marine escort. We could have set up a few clicks outside of the town and no-one would've been the wiser"
"To what end?" she asked, coming up behind him to wrap her arms around him. "It won't get the Calypso back. All we would be able to do was observe and stay out of sight. At least this way we're in the middle of things. I don't like that lizard person, but I'm not sure that weapons would do any good. If he can send the Calypso away, what would he do to a platoon of Marines?"
"I just don't like feeling helpless. With a Platoon of Marines i could secure the area, grab this guy and make him tell us what's going on here" Cam said, placing his hands on hers "sorry, the last time i was stranded on a planet, I ended up in an Orion Mine fighting for my life"
"I know, love," Kara said. "But we still have the Prime Directive. We can't grab him, especially if he could kill you by electrocuting the lot of you before you had a chance to do anything. We don't know what he can do right now."
"I know, and I hate it. It's hard enough protecting the CO on a simple away mission, but now I don't have either the ship or the manpower I need for backup" Cam said, before sighing, "I need shore leave"
Kara turned him around so they were facing and kissed him. "We'll just have to make the most of tonight. I have a feeling tomorrow is going to get crazy."
"That sounds like the best idea I've heard all night" Cam said, returning the kiss before picking her up and carrying her over to the bed.
[Elsewhere]
Spartacus had dressed easily and quickly; more than just her heritage to thank for teh speed with which she could 'pull herself together'; the flowing dress that had the gold cord wrapping around her chest to her thin waist to encircle her a few times that also held the one Dagger she kept radily seen. The head band was of similar looking braiding but shone slightly more, her ornate Communication bracelet was on her left wrist as she moved to a comfortable bench along a path away from prying ears.
"I gave a three tone chirp to Samantha, she should be replying to us soon." Spartacus said. "I just hope she goes along with your idea Hale?" She remarked. Something is really wrong with the Calypso out of anchor and no word from the fighters." She did not know who could be listening so she kept things sounding more 'native.'
"It may not be much help at all," Illise admitted, "but we've got to do something." She wore the same clothing as she had earlier, since she had not bought anything at the market. Depending on the length of their stay, the money she had made might find better use, so she didn't feel too bad. Shopping had never really been her thing anyway. Looking down the torch-lit paved street towards the square, she found herself less at ease out in the night. They were enemies of the local 'god' apparently, and that was not a position she was very comfortable with. "I'd rather not stay here any longer than we have too."
[Temple]
Frenatus stood on his balcony, looking over the city. The starship worried him. How had it come to be in orbit around his planet? Would it return? He had to consider that possibility, and what he would do when they did. It was a when. He had only encountered Starfleet once, but their pigheadedness was as great as their passiveness. They were no threat to him, merely an annoyance.
However, if they sent people down to Gekkaro, they could sew the seeds of rebellion. He could not have that.
Something in the city caught his eye. Someone was looking for him. Someone not from this planet. He pulled out a small m irror and looked through it. Two women. One of them had some sort of device he could not see.
He called four of his acolytes and showed them the mirror. "Get them and bring them here. Quietly," he ordered. "No one is to take note."
"Take the blowguns. Don't let them see you coming," Frenatus said. "Put them in a cell. I will speak with them in the morning."
Frenatus kept an eye on his acolytes, just to be sure they did not fail. It was only when they returned, successfully carrying the sleeping women, that he allowed himself to sleep.
