908 words; about a 5 minute read

Mission: Of Gods and Men
Location: Transporter Room/Planet

[CONTINUED]

[OLD]

"Yes, I am Spartacus..." She said while basking in the change in her body from green to the Olive to allow her to blend. "Arnon, I see you have legs; those should keep the men looking for the new fashion statement you are making."

[NEW]

Arnon bowed to Spartacus.

"Why thank you Teenah my dear," He replied. "If I may say so, you lovely as always. Perhaps even lovelier if that's possible."

Spartacus actually darkened slightly as she bow slightly and giggled slightly. "Your charm will do you well." She complemented. "I had the Science Department do some listening and the Universal Translator has some good information that might help us fit in better, but if we have a problem should we lose our Communicators." She nod. "SInce it will take force to remove them the best options would be acting of amnesia if you have an altercation and just act superior if not and not say anything."

"Just remember, we're there to gather information and find out what is causing the technological signature. We're to act as travelers coming to trade in the market. Try not to stand out, please."

"At least I am not green, that should help." Spartacus added. "I intend to say little, it is said 'a fool speaks while a wise person listens." She smiled.

Kara asked to join the away team partly to be with Cameron and partly because it sounded interesting. She dressed in a Grecian gown denoting herself as a servant. She walked into the transporter room with Cameron and greeted the others.

"Well, this is a fine gathering" Cam said, looking around at the group. He was wearing a long sleeve grey woollen shirt over which he had a leather vest and a long dark grey cloak. On his belt he had two visible knives on top of the three other knives he had hidden about his person. It was his intention to be seen as a protector for the group, or at least some hired muscle.

~you know, I don't think anyone else could pull off that look~ Cam said Telepathically to Kara

Kara smiled at Cam's comment. "I agree."

Illise was riffling through a homespun canvas bag as she stepped into the transporter room. She wore a simple sleeveless light blue dress that came just below her knees, and was tied at the waist with a silver cord. Soft leather sandals laced up her calves, and a beige shawl pinned with a silver broach and draped over one shoulder. Her hair was tied up into a bun with a single length of blue cloth no more than a centimeter wide, creating a layered look as it wound around her head in loose tiers. Her comm unit was cleverly designed as a silver amulet that hung around her throat. Her skin had been carefully decorated with markings that also identified her as being from the mountain villages. Her tattoo had been covered.

In the bag, Illise had only a few items: charcoal writing instruments and a leather-bound note book (inside which hid a thin tricorder), a canteen of water, a pouch containing coins in the local currency, and a carved wooden box containing several tightly wrapped glass and ceramic vials of fragrance. Although research showed that tapestries were a common trade item from the mountains, it had also shown that fragrances from that region were highly sought after. Having a few to trade might open some doors that would of otherwise been closed to them.

After much thought, Illise had decided not to bring any weapons. This was after-all an observation mission on pre-warp world, and she had no intention of using lethal force.

Damon arrived wearing an off green garb that included a loose fitting shirt and similar pants. He smiled at the group assembled in the transporter room and nodded to the Marines. "I'm looking forwards to this little day trip."

Spartacus mulled about the Transporter Room and the order for them to step up onto the Transporter Pads for their trip to the surface. She could be like this all day; the knives had such comfort; or the fact she is used to their placement, she could move with her trained strides not hinting at her defense weapons being on her and accessable. Looking about she kept her expression one of a cute kitten waiting for play.

As soon as everyone had arrived, Sam stepped onto the transporter pad. "Okay, everyone, let's go."

They materialized in a small valley a few kilometers from the village. The wagon joined them several moments later. It was designed to be pulled by hand, thus alleviating the need for a horse or ox.

The air was clear and clean with a bright, cheerful sound of birds in the nearby trees.

"Ready?" Sam asked.

"As always, my dear Commodore," Arnon replied.

"Let's try not to get captured this time. We'd be hard pressed to rescue anyone without breaking the prime directive" Cam said

"I have no intentions of getting captured," Sam assured him, glancing over at Damon as she did so.

She glanced around the team to ensure that everyone was ready. "Okay, let's go."
