The 'wrap' as humans called it, was not hard to track down where Ms. Rogers worked. She was a Language translator; he even managed to find her work station in the computer database. What was becoming difficult is what to do; the emotional wave that struck him left him almost drowning actually, he would figure out how to deal with her as is proper by human standards.
[Translation offices of Communications department]
"Michelle." Roberta Donner, the Gamma shift lead caught a glimpse of Michelle on her way in while Donner had passed down her report to the alpha lead. "Some guy came by looking for you about a half hour ago; he had a package for you so I placed it on your station." Donner smiled. "Some secret admirer we do not know about?" She winked. "You know it is the quiet ones they say are the wild ones." She giggled. "He was not a bad looking man; very soft spoken, he handed me the card with your name and I took the package and placed it where you can find it.
"Oh?" Michelle looked puzzled. "No admirers that I am aware of. Soft spoken, wonder who that could have been?" Michelle stepped over to her to her little workspace, a lot of her male co-workers called her 'the mouse'. She always seemed small, soft, sweet and would jump if approached mid-translation. They did tend to tease her about it a lot, almost like Cinderella with the step-sisters; come to think of it they did sometimes sponge off her for translation help, especially when there was a date concerned. So maybe they were more like those ugly and ill mannered step - sisters than Michelle would really care to admit.
Michelle found the package nicely on her desk; her designated work for the day sitting right beside it. "What could this be?" Michelle opened up the package and neatly folded up inside was her deep blue jacket and a hand written card. Michelle practically dropped back into her chair as she started to read the card.
{Ms. Rogers,
I am sorry for the misunderstanding. I was taken by the dance and unable to express myself.
I know it is only right to return your Lovely jacket and apologize for not getting it to you
in person.
Please forgive my lack of proper etiquette by Human standards as I am learning.
Be well and prosper.
Sincerely,
Jemnar Soft Touch.
P.S. You are a divine dancer.}
She held the card in her hands, looking it over a few times and pondering. "I can't believe I left that behind. Man was I ever embarrassed and yet he returns it to me without question and with a hand written card. Not many people take the time to do that these days." Michelle read over the name and the last line, she kept getting stuck on it. "That goes both ways." she said quietly.
"What does?" Kate said from behind her. ""Ooohh, somebody got spoilt?"
"Long story, things on the Holodeck were nice last night but......complicated as well. Short version; previous person in the Holodeck went overtime. I waited for a bit then went in, saw it was a dancing program. A wonderful guy was in there, he was just so ....quiet. Didn't say a word, yet it was like he could dance on air. Practically mistook him for a Hologram, until I kissed him."
"Whoa, you kissed a, well, total stranger?!"
"You weren't the one dancing with him! Still, I wound up totally embarrassed and ran out of there. Now I know how Cinderella felt; dashing out of there at midnight, leaving a wonderful guy behind."
"Did you also leave a shoe behind?"
"No, my jacket." Michelle said as she gestured to the box. "He returned it today and with a hand written note."
"What? He dropped it off here, with a HANDWRITTEN note?! Who is this guy and does he have a brother?? A clone??! Wow! You have to go and say thanks to the guy! See if you can go on a date or something?! You can't let him just slip away?!"
"I slipped up and he just called it a misunderstanding; I felt like I could practically glow in the dark by the time I got home."
"So, you said he was an amazing dancer; that means you already have that in common and you have said it is VERY hard to get a good dancing partner."
"True..."
"So, find Mister 'Fancy Feet', go sort out the misunderstanding and see what happens. You can't hide away with your sketches, Guitar and such forever; no matter how hard you try. Life and the outside world will always find it's way in. Other wise what would give you inspiration any more, right? Straight after shift, maybe a quick wardrobe change. No excuses, no delays...."
"...no leaving it to fate to decide my way. I know." Michelle replied as she set to work, putting the box aside.
