Mission: Of Gods and Men

[CONTINUED]

[OLD]

Drani shook his hand. *It is alright. Medical has been rather busy lately. It is good to see you here, relaxing.* She took a sip from her pina colata.

*They are all good people, their essences are kind and the emotional utterances are.. calming.* Softtouch smiled. *You appear to be having a good time as well." He looked at the drink. "They put a tart circle of fruit on a stick in my Juice... is that normal at these events?*

[NEW]

Drani chuckled. *I am having a good time. Yes, humans have a knack for adding fruits and salts to their drinks. Do you have much experience with humans?*

*A couple of years to the Diplomatic Corps before I was added to the Academy, so I think that would be about 6 years.* Softtouch replied. *You are telepathic, where is it that you come from?"

*I am from Betazed, though I am only half Betazoid, * she indicated to the light ridges on the bridge of her nose. *I always enjoy the company of telepsths over vocal species...comes from being raised on Betazed I suppose*

*I had to ewear ear plugs with sound supressors at my first Diplomatic meeting, I was not used to so many voicies around me.* He smiled with a brightness and his cheeks reddened as though laughing. *Getting used to voices was the hardest thing for me.* He raised a glass. *With telepaths I can actually hold a normal conversation as on my planet that is the only way to *speak.*

Austin managed to pull herself away from power distribution logs and sensor calibration tests to finally make an appearance. To be honest with herself, it felt a little weird sporting a two piece and wrap rather than her uniform. Weird not because she had anything against fun; It felt weird because she could not remember the last time she actually wore civi clothes. She grabbed a drink from the holographic bar, and made her way toward the life of the party.

"Does anyone have a pair of scissors?" Spartacus called out. "I need to get rid of these coconuts so I can swim?" She asked with an almost innocent expression.

"Why, don't coconuts float?" someone called from the crowd.

"Because they're made from duranium! " Austin quipped in return.

Chris went to the bar, and accepted a drink from the bartender. As he walked away from the bar, he took a sip, and had to admit it felt good to get away from engineering for a brief time, but at the same time he wasn't used to relaxing in this manner. He heard the comments on the coconuts, and smiled into his drink, before adopting the usual calm persona. The last party he had been to had been on the Intrepid, after they had fought the Orion Syndicate. It had ended with Chris breaking three ribs, a wrist and a jaw of an officer who had blamed him for the attack.

As he took another sip of his drink, he thought back to the battle, and how he had felt. He hadn't wanted to have to fire a phaser at anyone again, but he knew he never had a choice. But so far, he hadn't mentioned his past to anyone. No, right now was the time to relax. He found a seat that was semi isolated, and sat down, closing his eyes for a moment as he savoured his drink.

After a few moments of thinking it over, Cam picked up Kara and started to jog towards the water, "let's see how cold the water is shall we?" He asked before stopping quickly in the shallows and catapulting Kara into the water, "so how is it?" He called out

Kara got her feet under her and stood. Fortunately, the water was only chest-high. She was laughing as she pushed her hair out of her eyes. "Come out here and find out for yourself," she taunted.

"Aw, you're no fun are you" Cam replied before wading his way out to her, kneeling down so that his head was the only part of him above the water, "it's not too bad, a little cold but not too bad"

Kara pushed his head under the water. "Hwo else was I to lure you into my trap?" she teased.

Spartacus found a way to cut the strings holding the coconuts to the top of her Black STring bikini that fit her every curve and was quite fitted well and tailored prior to the party. It was small bit enough to cover her with a small deree of modesty; after all Sparta Rule; Scant clothing is better than none at all. Besides she was Orion and decided a little bit of skin was not a bad thing; she just made sure she was not hsowing off too much as she is a lady after all, not some Slave Girl in the Badlands.

She waded out into the surf after removing the anklets and bracelets ; though with the ingenious way she had found to put it in place she could wear the tiara of flowers even in the surf. It was a warm water and a chance to stretch her legs with a good breast stroke or two and frolic a bit in the warmth around her.

Maryam stepped onto the holodeck, amazed by the transformation and uncertain of her decision to be here. She had decided to be bold and was wearing a silk sarong tied in the jumpsuit style. It had always been her opinion that sarongs looked best on those with bigger chests than hers, and less like sacks - but she liked how she looked so she decided it did not matter if others did.

But now she was realizing a bigger dilemma; who to talk to out of the dozens who had flocked here. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves; to step into any group and start a conversation would be to break their summer reverie, and she did not want that. So she dithered by the door until she realized how awkward she looked there and no doubt some well-meaning crewmember would come along to help her break someone's summer reverie. Which, if she was going to do, she wanted to do alone. So she made her way to the bar in the hopes that they would have a soda that she could pretend to be distracted by and hopefully find someone there to strike a conversation with.

Jayna saw the newcomer and decided to address her and give Jennifer a break. "Hi. My name's Jayna. Help yourself to a drink and sit down."
