Mission: Of Gods and Men
Location: Holodeck

ON

The holodeck had been transformed into a park surrounded by trees. At one end was a large tent, its sides open to let everyone appreciate the view. Rows of chairs faced the front where Samantha York, in her dress whites presided.

"By the authority invested in me by Starfleet, I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride."

Taking a quick breath, Cam turned to face Kara. He was wearing his full dress blues complete with cover under his arm and ceremonial sword on his belt. Giving a warm smile, he lent down and kissed his beautiful bride.

Kara was wearing the wedding gown she and Cam had picked out. When the kiss ended she grinned happily. "I love you," she said, swithcing to telepathy.

"I now present to you Cam and Kara," Sam said proudly. It was a rare honor to be able to perform a wedding for a member of her crew and she was particularly happy that these two, who had fought with her husband for so long, were finally getting married. "In Marine Tradition, I ask all officers and senior enlisted to form the Arch of Swords to honor the new couple."

Bosley stood, grinning. Much as he was tickled to see his CO get hitched to a fellow platoon leader, he loved this particular tradition. He rose and took his place as two columns of Marines faced each other.

The eight Marines waited for everyone but the bride and groom to exit the tent and then they drew their swords.

"Presend swords." As one, the Marines in formation raised their swords so they touched tips with the swords of the Marines facing them.

As soon as the marines were in position, Cam offered Kara his arm, "shall we, Mrs Melo?"

"Definitely," she replied, slipping her arm through his.

"Presendint Captain Cameron Bourne and 2nd Lieutenant Kara Melo."

The couple walked through the arch of swords. As they passed the first two Marines, Bosley lowered his sword long enough to swat Kara on the behind. "Just so you know we appreciate you," he said.

Cam smiled, right, that's double shifts for him. No one gets to touch your ass but me he jokingly said telepathically to Kara

"Better yet, we'll put him in charge while we take a short honeymoon." She was willing to give Tom that one tradition -- although it was normally reserved for civilian wives to welcome them to the Marines. She was so happy to finally be Cam's wife that she really didn't care.

Short, ha, I want at least a week alone with you Cam replied, a coy smile coming to his face, I'm sure they can live without us for that long

"Hey, in some circles, a week IS short."

Sam walked up to the two, smiling at the couple. "Congratulations, you two. And congratulations on your promotion, Lieutenant Melo -- or are you changing your name to Bourne? Damon was quite pleased to see that you passed both your university courses and OCS."

Kara smiled back. "Thank you. I was pleased that they finally passed me, too." She glanced over at Cam. "As for the name, we actually haven't discussed that."

"We could follow the Betazed tradition and I could change my name" Cam said with a smile

"Or we could follow human tradition and I could change mine," she smiled back. "Honestly, I don't mind either way. What would you prefer?"

Cam shrugged, "I'm not sure. Honestly, neither of us have to change our names at all, or we could hyphenate our names together"

"True. We've got plenty of time to figure it out," Kara agreed. "Right now, I want to celebrate." She leaned forward and kissed Cam again.

"That sounds like a great idea. Let's head to the reception"
