Mission: Deadly Diplomacy
[CONTINUED]
[OLD]
Amarylis turned slowly instantly filled with a mixture of fear and rage. She could not tell which was the more dominant feeling. As she faced the cloaked figure her lip quivered as it curled in utter disgust. "Get out slime." she replied through gritted teeth.
Morat laughed. "Sticks and stones. Spare me your inferior attempts to hurt my feelings. I am here to help. They wish to keep you out of the action yet you wish to return to it. I can facilitate that."
[NEW]
"Commodore York is acting within Starfleet regulations! You cannot corrupt her, she is too strong for even you." Amarylis replied venomously.
Morat laughed once again but this time much more audibly. Her sinister laugh sent chills down Amarylis' spine even now after having heard it many times. Morat was visibly amused by Amarylis' defiance if not aroused by it. "Starfleet regulations. Her loyalty to your regulations make her weak. The almighty Federation does not rule the galaxy and nor does anyone bow to it, certainly not I and certainly not those who are like me."
"No one is like you." Beckinsale interrupted.
"How naive you are child. I am not the only one LIKE me. There are many whom share my motives, granted they aren't as intelligent but their thirst for chaos is just as strong. They are not bound by the same regulations as Samantha York. They will resist your federation and they will win. The question is, how far will you go?"
"I will not be part of your games." Amarylis replied defiantly dismissing Morat moving away from her.
"This is no game Amarylis. And whether you like it or not, I will show you your potential. I will show you what you are meant to be." Morat stated in a more serious tone looking to the window.
Amarylis looked out as well looking for what Morat was staring at. "And what exactly is that?"
[[Bridge]]
The bridge erupted in sparks and shook violently sending many of the personnel sprawling to the deck as the lights became crimson and the console flickered all over. "Commodore, we've sustained a direct hit to the hull, it...it was one of the fighters?!" the ops officer reported confusedly.
"Shields are down, main power is at...oh my god. Ma'am we've got three romulan warbirds inbound! They're aged but we cannot fight them off without shields! Intruders on decks three, nine, seventeen, twenty four!" The young woman was overwhelmed with the reports coming in. She did not understand how a situation that had seemed so under control.
Sam sent the information to Marines and security to deal with the borders. "Make sure they're real and not holographic," she ordered. "And calm down. I'm going to need you sharp for this."
Yui was tapping furiously trying to get the engines back. Then a little lightbulb flicked on over her head.
"Commodore!" she said. "If I dump the warp plasma I can stall the engines of the Romulan ships" she said. "I'll have to do something fancy with the thrusters to get us into position though..."
"Pull the fighters, then do it," Sam replied. "We need to keep those warbirds from attacking."
Yui tapped at her console. The nacelles let loose a trail of plasma. With one push of a button the Calyspo was trailing behind it. The Romulan war birds ran into the blue mist and after a short spark from the phaser banks it erupted into multiple explisions stalling their engines and damaging their shields.
Yui looked back at Sam. "Done Commodore" she said. "The Romulan Ships are all at a standstill"
[[Beckinsale's Quarters]]
Amarylis braced herself as the ship shook. The lights flickered once again, Morat did not flinch during the ordeal. Her body language conveyed a perceived expectance.
"Now do what you were born to do."
"And what is that?" Amarylis asked.
Morat threw a phaser rifle to the floor. "Kill indiscriminately."
-Fighters-
"Mangalia to Calypso, get me out of here. I'm dead in the water." Leroy cried as he saw the Romulan inbound. "All fighters scramble, attack formation bravo. Don't let those green blooded bastards get close." Another shower of sparks erupted behind him as he grabbed a couple perso nap items. One was a picture of family, the others were weapons. "One to beam up when your ready. Then you can use my bird as a battering ram with the tractor beams."
"I've got him," Phoenix said, quickly beaming Leroy to the second seat in her bird. "I'm not sure the ship has transporters right now. What say we use this dead bird as an IED?"
"Put the warp core on overload and get out of there," Sam said over the comm.
"Yes, ma'am," Phoenix said, setting the damaged ship adrift in the direction of the warbirds.
The fighters quickly landed in the shuttle bay as the ship moved away from the Romulan warbirds. They hadn't gone far when there was another explosion, this time the fighter impacted with the lead Romulan ship, blowing a hole through the hull. The two remaining ships collided with the first and all three began to show signs of severe damage.
"Ma'am," Maria said. "Three people transported off the ship just as we were hit."
"Who?" Sam asked.
"An unknown Cardassian female, a Russian human from the Brig -- I believe it was the arms dealer, and..." She paused, looking up to the Captain. "And Admiral Burke."
"Find her and get her back!" Sam ordered.
"Trying, ma'am, but the signature is untraceable."
"Search the three Romulan ships for her. She has to be on one of them."
"Aye, ma'am."
"Alert Intel. They can find her," Sam added.
The ship continued to move away from the Romulan ships as Sam anxiously waited for word on the Admiral. It took several minutes, but finally there was a message from Intel. "We have her, Commander."
"Good work! Shields to full! Get us out of here, Yui!"
