She knew it was going to take time for her to fit in, for them to feel like she fit in. That wasn't a problem, at least not for her. She knew Logan trusted her, and that made it easier to be patient. "No," she said. "We've both been too busy do do more than say hi since he got here," she admitted. "Why?"

"I understand, and I apologize for that. Once thing's die down I promise you two will have some time that you can spend with each other, doing whatever it is you two do together." Remy paused for a moment, clearing his throat a bit before continuing. "There is no need to go into detail so lets not, shall we?" He added a slight laugh before crossing his arms over his chest. He was clearing uncomfortable, but not because of her it was more about the topic at hand.

He took a moment to gather the words in his head before saying them out loud. "Logan, you'll find doesn't speak about his past that often because he doesn't know it. You see Logan's past is a complete mystery, not only to himself, but to my as well. I have used many contacts at my disposal, calling in a few favors and making some more along the way, to uncover that mystery and I have yet to come up with anything. Our friend, your..umm.. companion, is the only survivor to a massacre on board a Caitian Starship. The Intel department of the Starship that found it sent a message to Command, which reached Intel, which soon caught the wind of Admiral Hunter. Admiral Hunter, or Max as most tend to call him, sent me to investigate. I've seen some horrible things in my time as an Intel Officer, but that was a scene that made me cringe."

"Well, without going into detail about the still active case, Logan was found amongst the bodies. Unconscious and covered in blood. The only mark on him was a tattoo that read Logan which became the name we called him. To this day, I am not even sure that is his name, but we had to call him something because everything else was a complete blur to him. In appearance, he seems intimidating and fearless, but the man in front of me was scared and confused. He didn't come off as a killer to me, and I have seen my far share. There was nothing that pointed him to the crimes, but with a case like that you can never be sure." Remy paused, shifting his position again as he looked to her and took a moment to think before speaking again. "I ended up pulling some strings to get him placed under my custody. It wasn't till much later that I found out about his talent for Engineering and Operations. Logan is the only person I ever truly trusted and would firmly stand behind. Risking life and career for."

Remy paused again, clearing his throat a bit before looking her in the eyes and continuing. "Which brings me to my point. Our job, when it comes to Investigations, allows for a complete report. Not only of our findings but how we came across these finds and what led us to it. I have always been the one to make, and send, these reports because I know what it takes to go through it and exactly what kind of questions they ask in order to ensure a solid case. I apologize for my sternness earlier in regards to how you came across your solution, but once you hear me out you will understand why I am insistent on it. Logan is not an officer of Starfleet. The case of what happened on that Caitian Starship is what lingers over his head. It will always come up, and because his name is listed as a suspect, it reflects badly on anything he is involved in. I pride myself in giving Starfleet a solid report, and one that will withstand their scrutiny, solely on the fact that I do not want to turn attention to Logan and his past. The more attention it breeds, the more harm it will do, and the worse it gets for Logan. Not knowing what happened on that ship is the biggest problem because they don't know whether or not to list Logan off as a survivor or killer. And I tell you this, in confidence. Should the worst happen and he is found to be the monster behind it, I will do everything in my power to keep him safe, because I know that man is no killer. Logan is not that monster."

She had absolutely no doubt Logan was innocent, too. She trusted him as much as she trusted her sister, and with all she and her sister had gone thrugh, that was quite a bit. "Yes, but his record since working with you should go a long way towards showing his credibility," she said. "Anyone who meets him knows he's amazingly honorable. My record is worse than his."

"But all of that can come into question should some evidence come forward that links him to all those deaths." Remy countered. "And some members of Starfleet will do anything to prevent the Federation from looking bad. It's all stupid politics, Jayna. Some higher ups care more about appearance than truth. Having a murder, of that caliber, in our organization makes Starfleet look like they condone the act. We can't prevent that, but we can keep Logan's off their radar until the truth does come out. I assure you, if anything comes up from that case regardless of what it is, I am the first person on the list to know about it. And as I said, should things come out differently, steps will be taken. Until than, I only ask for you to ensure specifics in your findings for me to place in the report that goes out. We don't want to draw any questions to us that will lead them to Logan and get them to start an investigation into him that may lead to an active murder case. I value him too much to see his reputation and image being shattered by something that someone else did. I am only taking precautions."

"Thank you for the explanation," Jayna said quietly. "I'll do what I can to give you as many facts as I can. You know I'd do nothing to hurt Logan."

"Me either." Remy replied with a bit of a smile. "You are a fine officer. Talented and smart. You don't hide what you think and you never let anyone keep you from doing what you know needs to be done. I am proud to have you on this team and if you tell anyone I said that I will deny it thoroughly."

Jayna just stared at him for a moment, then started to laugh. "Do you know, I think that's the first real compliment you've ever given me. I'm not quite sure what to say to that."

Remy got off the couch and adjusted his uniform a bit before looking back to Jayna with a stern look. "And since this conversation never took place, and it was off the record, than technically it never happened so both our reputations are still intact. Please advise the Captain, Miss Mira of our progress and that we may need a security detail to stand ready outside the Horus should the results prove favorable."

"Yes sir," she said. "Does that mean I can still refer to you as Grumpy?"

"Only if you stop valuing your job and behind my back. Other than that, no." Remy replied sternly, hiding a smirk in the back of his mind. "Now shouldn't you be getting back to your job, Lieutenant?

"Yes, sir." She gave him a smart salute that was marred by a cheeky grin and went to see if she could help Logan.
