Mission: Deadly Diplomacy
Location: Horus

[CONTINUED]

[OLD]

Remy's eyes raised slightly as he smile. "That's right. The Orion Syndicate's hidden lab on the asteroid. Didn't you say it needed more work?"

[NEW]

"Remy, that was a long time ago. I've since worked the bugs out. Haven't had a chance to use it in the field since then." Logan replied with a smirk as he looked over to Jayna. "During a mission involving the Orion Syndicate and this hidden lab I developed this harness for Spock that acts as a mobile sensor. It's link right to the Horus. It gives us a real time view of where he is and what he is looking at. the Leash, as I call it, has a site to site device that allows us to transport Spock out if he gets into trouble. We had some trouble with it at first. It wasn't the device, though."

Remy nodded, adding a slight laugh before he spoke. "Spock kept getting distracted and side-tracked. Needless to say, the sweep took a lot longer than expected."

"If I can adjust the site-to-site on the Leash, I can make it to that whatever, or whoever, Spock is holding onto will be brought with him when transported." Logan replied, looking from Remy to Jayna. "We could, in theory, transport the Caitian with Spock right to the Horus. Spock would have to make sure he has a firm grip for a couple minutes to give me time to adjust the computer to compensate for the additional mass and pattern."

Remy nodded again, looking over to Jayna before locking eyes with Logan. "Which means, our small friend, will have the same experience as a bull rider in a rodeo. Is he up for it?"

"Can he hold on to her for that long?" Jayna asked. "I like the idea." She gave Logan a warm smile. "I think it's our best chance -- if you can keep Spock on task and get her here before she decides to throw Spock against a bulkhead or something."

Logan looked at Jayna with a raised brow. "Really? You couldn't keep the throw Spock against a bulkhead thing to yourself? You had to say it out loud so he can hear you?"

"That's so he'll be careful," Jayna said.

She turned to Spock. "So you can't go the full eight minutes, okay?"

"Yeah, but if you say stuff like that you're either gonna make him concerned for his own safety or give him performance anxiety." Logan added, looking over to the capuchin who had already began to show signs of fear and worry.

"Mister Spock will not only go the full eight minutes, but will also get the full credit of single handed apprehending the murder and bringing her to justice. He is a skill infiltrator and a member of this team. Had he not been the best for the job, he would not be on this team." Remy said sternly as he looked over to the concerned capuchin and placed his hands behind his back. "Isn't that right, Spock?"

Spock looked around the room at each of his friends and let out a soft coo. All this talk about getting hurt and questioning whether or not he was capable of such a task was both curious, and concerning, but he didn't want to let anyone down. With a hardy screech, he looked to Remy and gave him an affirming nod.

"That a boy, Mister Spock." Remy replied with a smile as he looked around at everyone. A sense of pride came over him. "Mister Logan, take Spock and the Leash. Begin preparations for the mission. Jayna, please stay behind for a moment."

Jayna nodded, not sure she liked the sound of that.

Logan looked to Jayna with a bit of concern before walking over to the case where Spock's Leash was and picked it up. "Let's go, Spock." Just before walked to the door, he gave Remy a stern look, unsure of why he wanted her to stay behind, but trusted it wasn't anything she had done to upset him. With a small huff he walked out, the brave Capuchin still on his shoulder.

"Horus? Detach yourself from the Calypso sensors and turn off the holo-display." Remy said firmly, placing his hands on the table as he typed in a code to lock the functions of the table.

"Yes, Remy." The AI replied.

For a few brief moments Remy stood there in silence, contemplating how to put what he was going to say into words and not give Jayna the impression he was angry. "Please take a seat." He said softly, gesturing to a couch they kept in the room for long nights.

She nodded and sat at the far end, her apprehension growing.

Remy cleared his throat before walking over to the couch and sitting down at the far end of where Jayna sat. He leaned against the cushion and looked at her sternly before finally speak to her in his usual firm tone. "I understand you're not fully accustomed to working with our group. Keeping in mind, not only is this new to you, but it is also new to us. We've been a small group for a long time that Logan and myself, as well as Spock, are used to certain procedures and personal rules that took a long time to develop. By saying this, I want to make sure you know, you are not being reprimanded or scolded in anyway. I am just, currently, stating a fact."

"Yeah, I've noticed," Jayna said. "That you three are a tight group and I'm the outsider."

"Yes, for the moment, however that is not the case right now. As I said, it takes a bit of time getting used to things. Not only for us, but for you too, which brings me to my current point." Remy replied quickly, placing his hands on his lap as he let out a soft sigh. "Has Logan said anything about his past? Has the topic even come up?"

She knew it was going to take time for her to fit in, for them to feel like she fit in. That wasn't a problem, at least not for her. She knew Logan trusted her, and that made it easier to be patient. "No," she said. "We've both been too busy do do more than say hi since he got here," she admitted. "Why?"
