Mission: Deadly Diplomacy

[CONTINUED]

[OLD]

Andrews looked over her board. "Target found, transfering coordinates to the fighters...now." Andrews flashed a cruel smile. "Kill them all." She muttered under her breath.

[NEW]

"Da fighters are busy intercepting." Munich felt he could speak as a pending battle is looming. "Helm, move us to attack angle. Tactical, lock Main banks and Photons, a Ground installation vould be a bad ting to have taking shots at us, but hold fire as we do not want to be act ov war, tell dem we hav lock and to stand down." Munich was not going to fire on the planet; either planet, without real provocation. "If it powers to shot take it owt."

"Belay that," Sam ordered. "The away team is investigating the phaser canon. I don't want to accidentally shoot our own people."

Munich stood at attention and waited for something to happen?

[Fighters]

Phoenix heard the alert to launch and quickly donned her gear. In two minutes she was in the fighter bay. She wasn't sure where Leo was, but she knew he would either give her orders from fighter ops or from his own fighter.

She climbed into her bird, put on her helmet and began the pre launch sequence.

Wedge was first through the doors with his helmet in hand, scrambling up into his cockpit, his ground crew helping him as he put the fighter through pre flight and donned his helmet. The systems began to light up and green indicators told him his fighter was as ready as he is.

Bojay hated the fact Wedge seemed to be able to transport from place to place it seemed. He leapt up the ladder to get into his ship. The restraints were in place, the power systems were called to start while he secured his helmet. Reading his panel he noted the all gree indicators and kept a ready ear to the communications channel waiting orders to fly.

"Go Go Go," Leroy called from fighter ops. "Alpha on intercept, Bravo and I will stay back incase you need us. Phoenix, you call the shots until we're needed out there." He had been napping in fighter ops, instead of in his bird like usual. He needed to see how his men would do without him in the sky with them, he just hoped they understood. "And don't do anything stupid people."

"Let the good times begin." Wedge said as he waited for Pheonix to get out the gate first, she was their lead and Bojay would tuck in right behind her like a third little duck in a V-formation.

"Told you we are good, we get first run." Bojay complemented while bringing his fighter to the full ready.

Phoenix took the lead, plotting in an intercept course. "Let's see if you can fly as well as you talk," she teased the other two. "And keep your heads down. We can't afford any mistakes." One mistake would likely end up with them dead, and she didn't want to report back to Leo why anyone died on her watch.

"I've got five bogeys," she said over the comm. "I'll take the first run, you two keep tight on my six."

The two fighters formed up on Phoenix.

"They're in a five-man group," Phoenix reported. "Target the lead, see if we can cause a little chaos." Putting word to deed, Phoenix angled towards the ships, coming at them from above. She strafed them with phaser fire, then launched a torpedo at the front fighter's tail. If it didn't go down, it would be dead in the water. At the last second she flipped around and activated the turbos, shooting back the way she'd come.

[Bridge]

Brown monitored the engagement from her station. She ran a quick Re check of the ship's status, pulling up the power distribution system. "Sir, I have auxhillary generators 2,4 and 5 on standby "

"Excellent, Lieutenant Brown. Ensign Sirel, how are shields?"

[Fighters]

"Surrender now," Phoenix said, giving the other fighters one last chance. Their response was a volley of micro torpedoes that took the shields down to 60%. "Got it," she replied, her tone determined.

She shot two torpedoes at the head fighter, followed by a stream of phaser fire, flying through the flight to let Wedge and Bo Jay take their shots.

Wedge noticed the barrage of micro torpedoes, angle on the axis to avoid the majority of the attacks, locking upon the fighter that is his opposite. The toner of a lock allowed him to return the favor and two torps with Phaser chasers just before an explosion.

Bojay had tone; the opposing fighter had started this exchange with a volley that should have done more damage. With what looked like a 'hotdog' maneuver of a rolling along the axis to keep him away from the majority of the incoming fire.

"Tag, you're it..." Bojay said as his phasers sliced into the shielding and tore a hole into the enemy shielding then the torpedoes tore into the fighter itself and destroyed it."

"Three down, two to go," Phoenix announced gleefully. "Good job, guys."

One of the remaining two fighters had broken off and was on her tail. Her computer notified her that it was trying to get a weapons lock. She lined up her aft torpedo launcher and shot two missiles at it, turning sharply and hitting her thrusters to get out of the way of the ship as the two missiles hit their target. "Don't let the last one get away," she ordered the other two.
