Mission: Deadly Diplomacy
Location: Captains Ready Room
Timeline: Before the Attacks (So Backpost)

ON:

Leroy entered the bridge with a black case under his arm. Walking past the Marines on deck, he rang the chime for the Commodores ready room, and waited. He felt dumb for waiting this long but he had forgotten that he had finished them and who they were meant for.

Sam was standing at her viewport, looking out on the planet in the distance. "Come in," she said, turning to see who wished to speak with her.

"Think fast," Leroy said as he stepped inside, tossing the case in her direction. If it missed her, it would land at least on her desk. "I meant to give you these when I got here, but forgot." He said laughter in his voice. "They're fully working and I'm sure someone can show you how to use them if your of a mind."

Sam caught the case and set it on her desk. She gave Leroy a curious glance before opening it.

Smiling he let her look at the two Single Action Navy pistols. "One has the old United States Navy insignia on the chambers, the other has the United Federation of Planets. I keep a couple in Kathryn in case I get shot down over a planet. Sensors won't pick them up so if you have to go in, they won't show." Walking over he picked one up and opened the slot so she could see how to load the chamber.

"Its half cocked, if you need to fire it'll click back one more time. Fires a .45 caliber round that will knock someone in the dirt and if your not careful will snap your wrist."

Sam took one of them and carefully looked it over. "These are beautiful. Did you make them?" She'd seen the reports of his forge and wondered if this was the sort of thing he worked on in his spare time.

"I did, it's the kind of thing that keeps me grounded so to speak." Decocking the weapon he laid it back in the case, then unsnapped the top portion showing three golden tipped rounds and twenty three lead ones. "And their loaded to the specs of the time. If you'd prefer a blade I can do that, I could have an officers sword for everyone deserving of one by Christmas, made out of tritanium."

"That's impressive," she said. "I assume you do Marine blades?"

"I can do any style that you want to be honest..." Leroy said shrugging. "Now I have a question for you, if I may. There's not a lot of room at the top of the NCO tree, I was wondering if perhaps there were OCS classes on board."

"There are," Sam replied. "The computer has classes you can take. The exams are administered on the holodeck. We actually have a Marine doing just that. I can get you set up right away, if you're interested."

"I'm more than interested Commodore. As a Master Sergeant I'm in limbo. There's no where else to go. I understand that I'll be taking a loss in somethings but that's a risk worth taking."

"I definitely think it's a risk worth taking," Sam said. She went to her computer and loaded data onto a PADD and then handed it to Leroy. "This will get you started. I'll send in the paperwork authorizing you to take the classes."

"Thank you Ma'am," Leroy said smiling. His eyes honed in on the port hole. "I won't disappoint."

"I have no fear of that," Sam assured him. "I'm sure you will do well. In the meantime, I would like to commission a Marine sword for Colonel Raine. And a pair of pistols -- again for a Marine." Her smile softened. "I think he'll appreciate them."

Laughing, Leroy looked at the woman. "A commission? I might actually get paid for a piece!" Smiling he made mental note of what she wanted. "I have an idea of what I can do for this Marine. I'm sure you'll both enjoy it." Still laughing he turned to leave. "And Ma'am, like all my works, they'll be meant to bring war. I don't do dull blades." Walking out he tapped away on a padd to set a reminder. Now it was time for his date.

Sam grinned. It would be a fine gift for Damon. She could hardly wait to see his face when she gave them to him. Still smiling, she went back to her work.
