Deadly Diplomacy

Galen continued to treat the crewmen who came into the sickbay. At first there had been only minor injuries, but soon she began seeing some that were more serious. She treated these herself, letting the nurses take care of the minor ones. One woman had two broken ribs and was bleeding internally, having been thrown into a her console when a conduit ruptured near her station. She was helped in by a man with second degree burns to his neck and shoulder. Galen gave the man a hypo for the pain and directed one of the nurses to treat his burns, while she immediately prepped the woman for surgery. Galen looked around the sickbay, taking in the injured and the modicum of chaos that inevitably came with them. She was an Emergency Medical Hologram, and this was what she had be programmed to do.

Arnon took on his share of incoming patients and more. Though he did not regularly practice this kind of medicine anymore, he had a vast amount of experience in emergent care and combat trauma and he often filled in during crisis situations on the starships he served aboard.
Helge and the other nurses set up triage stations outside of sickbay. It allowed them to separate the patients who needed a doctor's care from those with less critical injuries. It was times like this when she wished there were more doctors on board. Fortunately, times like this were few and far between.
After a while, the flood of crew reduced to a trickle and she began to clean up while the other nurses took care of the ingress.
Arnon treated the burns on a DC2's hands.
"You'll be fine," he said to her. "This new skin is going to be a little tender for a while so take it easy for a day or two, but everything should be fine when I'm done."
"Thanks, Doc," DC2 Ramirez replied.
Frost returned to Lieutenant Andrews after a few other patients had their injuries treated. One had a minor cut, along with a the burns. "How are you feeling Lieutenant?" Ilse asked Roberta as she checked the vitals of the pregnant woman from the bio-beds readings.
Roberta looked up at Doctor Frost. "I think I'm doing ok, Doctor. Just sorry for the way I acted."
Frost leaned one hip against the bio-bed and crossed her arms in a relaxed manner as she smiled slightly. "Well Roberta, after the lab tech's have jumped through the hoops and tested for every known aliment that might occur at this stage in your pregnancy and the results have been reviewed two things may occur. One, you might have to come in for more tests within the next few days or two every thing is fine and it is just your bodies way of reacting to the fact that you are carrying a mixed child." Frost reached out and patted Andrews arm slightly "In the mean time, nothing to be worried about but I suggest staying away from whatever it is you ate and as always if you have any questions or concerns any one of the medical staff will do their best to answer them." Frost paused and looked expectantly at Andrews to see if she had any questions at the moment.
Andrews looked at Frost. " Ok Doctor, I'll stay away from what ever that was and keep with something nice and easy.." Roberta's eyes went a bit unfocused as she thought out loud. "Yeah..sardines..with chocolate sauce..and grapes.."
Frost simply shook her head in disbelief.
