Mission: Deadly Diplomacy

[OLD]
"This is odd." Amarylis said walking towards the remains of Vance's bed retrieving a charred teddy bear from it. "This isn't Alexandra's." She turned to Kara and held the bear to her.
[NEW]
Kara took it and looked it over. "Computer, where did this bear come from?"
"The object was transported." the computer replied.
"From where?" Kara asked.
"Sickbay." The computer replied.
Kara then turned to Amarylis. "Do you have any idea what this means?"
Amarylis looked down to the bear furling her brows as she searched it's still intact artificial eye for answers. "I don't know. It doesn't make sense their were no bears or children in the prison. It's a message, but I just don't get it. I...I just...I just don't know Gunny." Her voice was staggered and filled with concern and confusion.
"Melo to York."
"York here. What's up, Gunny?"
"Commodore, Sergeant Beckinsale found a teddy bear on Commander Vance's bed. It's badly burned, but the eye is still intact. The computer says it came from sickbay."
"Sickbay? Inform Sergeant Beckinsale that the last attack was on a family. They had a child. The Cardassian woman made the child decapitate her teddy bear. The family went to sickbay. See if there is a connection."
"Yes, ma'am. Melo out."
Kara turned to Amarylis. "Does that make sense to you?"
"None Gunny. Not that I know of. If this is Morat then you have to assume every detail is a message. The bear, the location it was beamed from, the fire. It's all some sick twisted way of her telling a story. The girl that was whipped. I found Alexandra that way the day we rescued her from the Cardassian prison. But these last two attacks. I can only guess it has something to do with a child, but we didn't encounter Morat until the prison. There were no children there." Amarylis said still looking at the Teddy bear with more questions then answers.
Kara tapped her combadge again. "Melo to York. Can you please come down here?"
"On my way. York out."
Trent returned from scouring the quarters. "Area is clear."
It didn't take Sam long to go from the bridge to Vance's quarters. She stopped in the doorway to take a look at the damage, then looked to Damon, an eyebrow raised.
"Shall we see what is going on?" she asked him.
The two walked into the bedroom to see what Kara and Amarylis found. "What's up?" Sam asked.
Kara nodded to the bear. "This was on Vance's bed. It was beamed from Sickbay. I think you should be involved."
Sam nodded. It wasn't hard to put this with the family Morat terrorized, the child she made hurt her teddy bear, the woman who was whipped. Was this a threat to the child? Or was this a warning that more children would be hurt if Sam didn't comply. "What are your thoughts?" she asked Amraylis.
"Like I told the gunny I honestly have no idea what kind of message she is trying to send. At no point did Alexandra or I encounter her as a child or with one. The only thing I could think of is something that happened before. Maybe that's why she didn't want us involved.
"Something that happened before?" Sam queried.
Damon looked around the room. "Have we determined how and where the fire started?"
Sam turned to Amarylis. "Do you know?" she asked the Marine.
"I'm no arson investigator but I wouldn't rule out a simple match. I'd also be willing to bet it started in the bedroom, Morat likes to attack you in the most intimate places." Amarylis replied not really sure what to make of all this. At first anger had consumed her but now her mind swirled with questions. None of this made any sense, they needed to speak with someone who had known Alexandra a lot longer then anyone in the room did.
"Commodore I honestly have no clue what any of this means. I'd say we should either start digging into Alexandra's early life or find someone who knew her before any of us. This..." she said motioning her hand around the room. "This is a question none of us have the answers to. Which is odd to me because Morat gets her kicks from her victim knowing exactly why they are being victimized."
"Then it must make sense to someone," Sam said. "Unless Morat is changing her tactics. Either way, we need more answers. I wanta to find out how she's getting on and off this ship and shut her down."
Amarylis smiled and walked over to Kara placing her hand on her shoulder. "If you could do that. You would not only honour Alexandra but many other victims." Her voice was soft, sincere. The comment also drew a tear from her eye.
"I will do my best," Sam promised.
