Medical Checkup

Mission: Deadly Diplomacy
Location: Sickbay

Dr. Frost studied the scans taken from a patient, the man had complained about irritation and pain in his leg. The look on her face was quite serious as she enhanced a portion of the location that was the problem.

Chris buried a sigh as he walked into the sickbay of the ship. It wasn't that he didn't like doctor's or check-ups; he did. The problem was that he wanted to get everything set up in engineering, but of course, he had to get set up with the doctor.

He walked into sickbay, and went to the first person he saw, a nurse. "Is Doctor Frost available please?" Chris asked. The nurse pointed to her, so Chris walked over to her. "Doctor Frost? I'm Chris Hartley, the new Chief Engineer." He said, by way of introduction.

Frost continued to study the information before her, her forehead puckered slightly "I am pretty sure the Chief Engineer has been to get his physical, but then again I don't recall his name being Hartley. He had some fetish about being touched." Frost turned to meet the new personnel as she flashed one of her grins and she placed her whole attention unto the new engineer and pointed to one of the empty bio beds. "Up you go and we can get started."

Chris nodded, and walked over to the bio bed. "I just arrived. Starfleet felt I was needed, and according to Commodore York, the last Chief didn't even know what a gel pack was." Chris commented. "And don't worry, no fetishes." He added. 'Oookay, I'm almost dreading what that guy did to the engines.' He thought.

Frost nodded, "I only know about the inner plumbing of the crew. Besides, if you had a issue with begin touched or something. I heard that the new EMH is an absolute dream as far as bedside manners are concerned." Isle set the bio bed up and motioned for Hartley to lie down.

"Well, to be fair, I've always felt Doctor's were pretty similar to Engineers. We maintain the ship, you maintain the crew. Just a machine of a different kind." Chris said, as he laid down on the bio bed.

Ilse paused momentarily and glanced at the engineer he had described that quite, well, she thought. He had made a wonderful comparison of the two even if she had never thought much about it. Engineers were an odd bunch in her opinion and normally she did not look beyond their life signs. This one so far was less focused on the need to be down below tinkering then the others she had met but then again she tended to stay focused on her duties. She smiled once more and turned back to the bio bed and its preparation. A few seconds was all it took and she grabbed the tricorder off the table next to her and started to scan him. "Nice comparison. I never really thought of a ship comparable to a body." She nodded as she scanned so far so good, she focused around his stomach a bit. "What did you eat last?"

Chris saw her smile, and smiled back at her. "Umm, Steak, Medium Rare, with new potatoes and broccoli. Cooked it myself. I've been cooking since I was ten. My adoptive mom wasn't a fan of replicated food if she could avoid it, so she taught me how to cook." Chris replied. "I don't know much of biology, but any body has a brain, nervous system, heart and internal organs. Ship's definitely have that. Main computer, gel packs, warp core, and circuitry and EPS relays. Trouble is, not everyone agrees with that because they dislike doctor's. Never knew why, really."

Frost paused "Really, was the food replicated or fresh, um caught and grown?"

"Replicated, sadly. I prefer fresh food, but not always an option. The shuttle's replicator did an acceptable job though." Chris replied. "You ever had a properly cooked meal? I know most people rely on replicators, but they're not always around."

Ilse paused in thought for a really long moment, first to attach the scanner to his head and more importantly to jog her memory a bit to see if she had ever ate any thing none replcated. She shook her head "No, I cannot say that I have. I tend to eat on the fly." Frost said with smile as she glanced down at the scan's. "So, far so good."

Chris smiled. "Well, if you ever feel like a home cooked meal, I'd love to cook one for you. I make a pretty decent stew, and I've been told my lasagne tastes really good." He said.

Frost looked thoughtful for a moment as she studied the data "If I find time I may take you up on that offer." She turned from the data, removed the scanner form his forehead placed it on the tray and crossed her arms over the PADD she held. "Well Mister Hartley I don't see anything wrong with you at the moment except that you might need to intake a bit more calcium, either by food source or vitamins if you like. Other then that the usual advice applies try and get enough rest if you have any questions, hurts pains etcetera please don't hesitate to contact me or one of the other staff. Any Questions?"

"No, none I can think of." Chris said, with a smile. "And please, call me Chris. Mr. Hartley is so formal, never liked that myself." He said.

Frost flashed another smile "Well then you are free to head to Engineering and fix the inner working of the ship."

"Excellent. And remember, open offer to dinner, anytime you want a real cooked meal." He said, before heading out. So far, he was loving his new posting, and couldn't wait to see what else the ship might bring him.
