As you wish my Valentine.

Mission: Deadly Diplomacy
Location: Newmark Quarters

ON

Newmark moved down the corridor with a bouquet of roses he got from the hydroponics section and some very good chocolate he had specially ordered just for this occasion. He had hopes that the tradition was not forgotten on Earth; he had not forgotten it thus far; it was another reason for him to have some showering of affections upon his beloved wife.

"I am home, Love." He entered the quarters with a smile on his face and the presents for Nhallia.

Nhallia was stretched out on the couch with her feet up. She'd worked almost her full shift today when it had just gotten to be too much and she'd asked for the last hour or so off to rest and get off her feet. If this kept up she'd need to go on light duty until after it was all over. She just didn't seem to be able to... handle it. After getting home she'd just kicked off her shoes and laid down to rest for a second. She hadn't meant to doze off.

"Verdeth?" she asked as she pushed herself up into a sitting position to look over the back of the couch to the door. "You're home early; is everything alright?"

"Everything is fine love." HE came closer to give her a kiss while holding his gifts. "I just thought it being the 14th of Febuary I should give my beloved bride a little extra attention?" He gave her the flowers first. "For you my love." And then the box of chocolates. "Happy Valentine's day."

"Valentine's Day?" Nhallia echoed. "It's valentine's day?" She thought about it for a second and realized it was indeed. "Thank you, Verdeth. I... didn't even notice it was coming up." She reached for him to wrap her arms around him guiltily. "I'm sorry I forgot."

"That is what makes it much more that I got it right." He gave her a warm smile. "Not being on Earth I was hoping I got it right?" He gave her a warm embrace and caressed her back for a bit. "I have the best gift right here..." He played with the back of her neck. "I have you."

She held onto him tight for a long moment, biting back the sarcastic response asking how he could want her like she was now. She felt... so entirely unlike herself. "I love you, Verdeth. I need you, now more than ever," she managed to hold herself to saying that much and no more.

"You are My Lady." Newmark said with a smile. "I need you as much as you need me." He kissed the top of her head. "That is what is called loving someone, mutual affection and a desire to have them around." He look into her eyes. "You know I am Doctor..." He caress her back as he knew she liked. "I know the extent of your body's changes for you to have the Baby." He smiled. "To go through that process is the ultimate sign of love, to allow those changes are what it means to be a loving mother. I know how much you love me and how much you care about the little one in you."

Nhallia took a deep breath and again didn't answer. Sometimes she didn't know HOW she felt about the baby. Sometimes... she almost wished she had never reconsidered having children. But this was *Verdeth's* baby. She couldn't separate that fact. This was Verdeth's baby, and even getting close to regretting that made her feel so guilty and depressed.

She closed her eyes and let Verdeth's hand sooth and relax her, slowly running up and down her back, just showing her that he was there with her and cared about her. He even did this in his sleep, gently caressed and stroked her body. Just one of his many little actions he did that expressed his love for her.

Something Spartacus said during her 'clothes fitting' to her came back to her mind. "Help me up?" she requested.

Verdeath helped his wife up from the sofa, the pulse rate she had in her touch was assuring, the way she felt as he carefully aided her, support from her lower back so not to strain it was reflex for a Doctor and his touch to her was always calming to him.

"There you go, my Love." He said and winked.

On her feet again, Nhallia smiled at him. "I'm going to wash the sleep out of my eyes. Will you replicate some dinner for us and put the roses in water?"

"As you wish." He smiled and watched as she moved towards the back of their quarters.

He would make something Italian, less on the spices but a little more meat as she had cravings for this all the more while pregnant. Having been in the medical field he had to savor this as he surmised that after her pregnancy she might go back to her regular pallet with a vengeance and meat will be out of his shared diet for a LONG time, he mused to himself.

There was a vase he kept with their things and some candle sticks, he replicated a couple of candles and placed them on the table.

"I thought Italian, remember the Venice hologram we dated that one time?" He called. "I tried to get Holodeck time but you would not believe the requests for the Holodeck on this day? I had to put a request based on the fact I will be able to get the time off next Valentine's Day."

Nhallia had washed her face quickly, then went to the closet to get a change of clothes. "Of course I remember our Venice program," Nhallia called out of the bedroom as she got out of her uniform. "You think I'd forget our first date?"

She slipped on a dress of Spartacus's personal design. It was a strong teal color and had a similar cut to the navy wrap-around dress she'd worn on that first date, actually, with allowances for the pregnancy of course. It was velvet silk; Nhallia liked natural, soft fabrics, and Spartacus had a thing for silk, so when making a nice dress, the velvet made from silk fibers had been the Orion's choice.

She brushed out her hair as she looked at herself in the mirror. She looked better in this dress than she thought she had looked in a long time. She still felt like she was huge, but with the cut was close enough that she didn't look like she was wearing a muumuu, while being loose enough that it didn't look like she was TRYING to draw attention to every inch of her belly.

Unfortunately, none of Nhallia's nice shoes were going to fit right now. In the comfort of their own home, she would just be able to go barefoot, which she did, padding out to the living room to her husband. "And for the record, I'm glad to stay in tonight rather than going to a holodeck. It was sweet of you to try, but I just want to be with you at home."

Newmark had to stop in his steps and looking at his wife, his breath caught in his throat as she had a look that brought back memories; she always had a little more attraction in those types of Dresses, he could remember another colored dress of a similar cut.

"You - look... lovely..." Was all he could say as it would not take much to tell he was seeing the woman he loved and all he saw was the woman he loved with a beautiful dress for him, making herself more irresistible.

Nhallia looked down a little self-consciously. Normally she wasn't self-conscious, but... Seeing that look on Verdeth's face for some reason made her almost blush right now. Spartacus had made a comment about women dressing up for their men. Nhallia had... neglected to do that for quite some time now and she regretted that. Especially seeing that her husband apparently still wanted her to do such a thing even in her current condition. "Thank you, Lover," she signed and reached for him.

Newmark took the hand and kissed it as he moved closer to put his arms around her and gave her a good kiss. "My pleasure." He winked. "This dress and an Italian dinner is a good memory."

"We have a very good history over Italian food," she admitted.

She lifted her wrist to him so he could give her the little pressure point massage that relieved her morning sickness. It was the only way she could eat just about anything in her condition.

With an affectionate chuckle he took her hand, reminded of when he had done so in the bonding; marriage as the Humans called it, and the pledge to love one another for the rest of their lives. He found that memory gave him an extra 'feel' in his touch , her biochemical reactions and the way she reacted to his touch were like a welcome friend. He had done this little pressure point massage for her during her pregnacy, he might even see if it helped afterward as her skin was so soft to his touch and soothed him as much as her.

"There you go, Love." He said before pulling her chair out to seat her.

She smiled her thanks at him as she took her seat. The simple old-world charm of assisting a woman into her seat always made her smile at him. Before Verdeth, no one had ever done anything like that for her before. Before Verdeth, no one had ever done a lot of things for her before.

"Dinner looks fabulous. And spending it with you is even better." She smiled broadly at him. "Maybe later I'll play for you. A little private concert. Or we can listen to the old recordings and curl up together- or maybe dance. We haven't danced since our wedding," she pointed out, coming to that realization herself. Not that they had ever danced a lot, she was usually playing the music not dancing to it, but... It had been a lot of fun at their wedding reception.

"Dinner and dancing?" He raises an eyebrow as he smiles. "That is something that might be what we need for a Valentine's Day." Newmark smiled brightly.

"And roses and chocolates, the perfect ingredients for romance. Don't forget that you brought those already." She reached over the seat next to her and patted it so he would sit down. Right back at the beginning of their relationship, they had started sitting beside each other at meals instead of across a table, even to the point of sharing a plate and glass. It was a more... intimate way to share the meal. Of course, normally she'd be sitting on his lap too, but with the pregnancy she felt too ungainly to do that.

Newmark moved his food to the right side of Nhallia and placed his hand over hers. He glanced into her eyes for a second before leaning close for a kiss. "Sorry, did not want you to feel neglected."

"Never with you around. You're too good to me, Lover. I've always said it, and I always will." She squeezed his hand. She twisted a mouthful of pasta onto her fork and held it out to him. "Is it as good as it looks?"

"I brought the same dinner restaraunt we had on that first date." Newmark said with a grin. "Still the best Italian that I have tasted on a ship." He took some of of his own food and offered it to Nhallia.

She took the bite and savored the taste for a moment, then leaned in and kissed him. "There. That's the best Italian on any starship," she agreed.

"Yes that is a steadfast fact of the universe." Newmark agreed with a smile. "The other is that I love you more than I did the day before and less than on the morrow."

Nhallia laughed. "How did I ever attract such a hopeless romantic? And how did I ever manage to feel the same way about him as he does about me?"

"Fate and Destiny favored us both." He told her.

She smiled at him. "So smooth. No wonder you won my heart; that silver tongue of yours." She ran her fingers over the back of his hand. "And your skilled hands didn't hurt your case either. Considering I got to know them BEFORE you sweet talked me." She winked at him.

Using his light touch he started to caress a little more to get blood flowing in her arm and the type of tingle that was his signiture type of caress.

"I think there are a few more places that I could caress?" He winked.

Nhallia's smile turned sultry. She hadn't felt this good, this... comfortable and confident, this... sexy in a long time. Maybe Spartacus had a point with the whole 'the clothes make the woman' thing. Or maybe it was Verdeth's reaction to her new wardrobe; despite her 'condition' he still thought she was attractive, sexy, and desirable. "So I take it you're ready for that dance already," she murmured.

Newmark stood and offered a hand to his wife. "Computer... play fire, Blonde , Brunette and a Redhead rendition." He called for the recital.

The computer beeped. "RECORDING NOT FOUND."

Nhallia smiled as Verdeth helped her up. "Computer, play file 'Fever' by A Blonde, a Brunette and a Redhead," she corrected. Verdeth always did get the title to that one wrong. Maybe because he was always paying more attention to her when she performed it for him than to the title of the song.

Newmark took her in his arms and with a smile he had a hand at the small of her back as he moved with the music; he had taken lessons in formal dancing and Ballroom dancing from his mother.

Nhallia wasn't going to be winning any competitions for dancing right now. She wasn't particularly light on her feet right now, and her usually graceful, well balanced movements were a bit rough and stilted. But with Verdeth leading her and holding her, she could just follow and close her eyes and let him gently caress her back.

Newmark kept a hand to the small of her back for support as he took her hand in a proper form as he took a slow dance style lead, his eyes never left herws as he loved to look down into her eyes deeply, it was a place he often lost himself.

"I have always loved this song." He winked.

"I know. That's why I only sing it for you," she said with a smile. Nhallia started with her other hand properly on his shoulder, but after a few steps she slid it down to his chest, resting right over his heart. "Mine," she whispered in affirmation.

"Ours..." He brought her closer.
