Jethro's tone had risen during the dialogue but he took a moment to calm himself down brushing his silver hair to the back. "If you knew the kind of people that wanted my girls dead....classified would be the least of worries. Mark my words, if they want my girls dead.....you'll be next."

[NEW]

"I KNOW the kind of people, Mr. Vance. And until I get authorization or you give me a reason to trust you, you're out of luck."

"Don't waste your time Commodore. Now I can see why Alexandra went rogue." Jethro said in a condescending tone.

Sam tapped her combadge. "Sergeant Beckinsale, could you please come to my Ready Room before I jettison your visitor out the nearest torpedo tube?"

"Is it my sister?" Amarylis asked wondering if Jailynn had decided to pay a surprise visit.

"Afraid not," Sam replied. "He says his name is Vance."

"Okay! I'll be right there Commodore please tell him to wait." Amarylis said excitedly over the comm.

Moments later Amarylis arrived in the ready room running towards Jethro and throwing her arms around him. "Jethro it's so nice to see you im so happy you came." Amarylis exclaimed with tears of excitement giving him a kiss on the cheek. It was the first sign of happiness she had shown in days.

"Hey there sweetheart. I'm so glad you're alright." He said rubbing her back holding her tight fighting tears of his own but showing a bright smile.

Sam stood. "I'll give you a few minutes alone." She entered a command into her computer that would keep anyone from transporting in or out of the room and then locked down her computer. "I'll be on the bridge if you need anything," she said to Amarylis.

"Aye ma'am. Thanks for keeping him onboard, I know he can be trouble sometimes." She said with a smirk.

"The jury's still out on that, Sergeant," Sam said, still not sure if she was going to throw Vance in the brig to get him out of her way or send him back where he came from.

Jethro studied both York and Amarylis as they spoke. "You know what dear. How about you and Miss York here have a little chat, fill her in. I'm gonna go find Max, think he and I are due for a drink. If you'll excuse me." he said bowing his head before leaving the ready room.

Amarylis looked back at Samantha and crossed her arms. "What was all that about?"

"He wanted me to give him classified information without offering any authorization," Sam said. "And he has all the tact of a Targ."

"Tact of a targ, I'll give you that. Authorization....The records may tell you Jethro Vance retired but he's still doing Starfleet's dirty work. That man holds more secrets then I care to count. If we're on the subject of authorization you shouldn't even know who Morat is. There's only a handful of us authorized to have that knowledge, but that doesn't matter because I trust you and I think he deserves the same. He's like a dad to me and I'm all he has left. He came here cause he doesn't want the same thing that happened to Alex to happen to me. This psycho has jarred him enough to even show up, it takes a lot he's perfectly content staying home and out of our business..."

"Then he needs to not play the Tell me what you know and I may or may not admit that I know anything game," Sam said. "I don't play that game with anyone. Especially someone who doens't have the authorization to be told anything."

Amarylis laughed. "That's kinda why the fleet keeps him around. He's very good at what he does and right now he's trying to figure out who killed his daughter. Problem is whether you like it or not he is going to get that answer. You however can decide WHO gives it to him, us or Morat..."

"Going rogue is what put Vance in this position. Do you really want him going after Morat himself?" Sam asked.

"Jethro knows better. Alex may have his temper but Jethro has far better judgment. The years have been hard on him but have given his wisdom. He's like a viper Sam, he won't strike until he's sure he's gonna hit and do some damage." Amarylis replied.

"He's shown a marked lack of both wisdom and judgment," Sam said. "And if his attitude is anything to go by, I'm his target. None of it leads me to trust him with any information, let alone classified information."

"I'm not sure I understand ma'am." Amarylis said looking to York quizzically. She wondered if Samantha had come across information Amarylis was unaware of.

"Don't worry about it," Sam assured her. "He's welcome to stay and visit with you, but I don't want you to leave the ship. I don't want a repeat of what happened to Alexandra."

"Leave the ship?! Did he say he wanted us to leave? That doesn't seem like Jethro. With the diplomatic function going on and being the fleet flagship he would want me here. He knows what Alex did was dumb." Amarylis responded.

"He didn't say, but he is of the impression that you need protection and only he can provide it."

"He's worried about Morat and he has every right to be. Look at what she's done so far and what's to stop her from doing it again? or going further? Jethro knows this. He was there when we brought Alexandra back and he's spent a lot of time studying her. There's a lot of history here." Amarylis said.

"You have a better chance of survival with a starship full of people ready willing and able to help you than you do going it alone," Sam said. "No, we may not be able to stop her, but we aren't going to make it easy, either. On board this ship we have some of the best Intel Starfleet has to offer and we're using it. We also have a crack Marine company who has been put on high alert. If you think do what Morat wants you to do and go solo is your best defense, waita until we're somewhere safer to try. You know she's here and you know she's waiting for you to run. All I'm saying is don't rush into anything right now. Okay?"

Before Amarylis could answer York was contacted over the comm system. "Transporter room one to York. We have two visitors here whom insist on speaking with you."

Sam sighed and tapped her combadge. "On my way."

She turned to Amarylis. "Just be careful," she said as she headed for the door.
