Helga came back a minute later and addressed Illise. "Can I get you anything while you wait?" She glanced at the others. "Popcorn seems appropriate."
Illise couldn't help but laugh. "I'm alright, thanks."
Helga nodded, a twinkle in her eye. "I have a bowl of lollipops at the front desk if you want anything sweet. The doctor will be with you shortly."
[NEW]
S'kott shot a look at Helga, but remained quiet, so the EMH could do her scans.
Helga nodded with satisfaction and left the doctor and EMH to do their jobs.
"Ensign FLores." Newmark was continuing his scans. "By the volume you are using and readings I can tell your lungs are fine." He was trying to get the scans done in short order. "It is also very constant in the 'Pitter patter of your heart at the passion of your looking out for my staff."
Illise looked over at Newmark, impressed by his abilities as a doctor, but a little confused by his words. Sometimes she missed Klingons.
Galen finished her scans of S'Kott and reviewed them, comparing them to his previous exams. As a hybrid, the half-vulcan's blood chemistry was a little abnormal, and since she had no previous personal experience with hybrid physiology she accessed the Starfleet Medical's database to check against their records of similar bio-chemistry. Satisfied, she then saved the results in his medical file. "Congratulations Lieutenant, you are in excellent health." She paused for a moment, "However I would like you to consider reducing your intake of high-cholesterol foods. There is no harm in being pro-active about one's health."
"Ensign Flores." Newmark saw the same kind of an expression that Nhallia friends Kit and STevie get upon occasion when his attempt at humor was heading in a wrong direction. "According to the scans and the feel of your Body's flow you are cleared for duty, though you should stretch more before you do any heavy duty, your shoulder and collar one muscles are tensing and will knot up." He looked tp the Engineer. "I should think time away from what give you stress or anyone that causes strong emotional reactions might be avoid when possible."
Galen looked over at Ensign Hale. "I can see you now Ensign Hale." She gestured to the biobed next to S'kott's and called up Hale's medical file. Galen noted the many times that this woman had been treated for injuries which varied in severity.
Illise stopped watching the banter and got out of her chair. "Thank you Doctor." She walked over an climbed onto the biobed.
"You seem to have quiet the history of injury Ensign," Galen commented as she began her scan.
Illise made a small non-committal gesture since she was trying to remain still. "No one ever accused Klingons of having a soft touch."
Galen raised an eyebrow as she looked at her scans, then realized that she had done so involuntarily and mused to herself about the implications. She decided that it was a good step forward in her social skills, since she had not needed to apply the facial movement with conscious thought. Also, she rather liked it. While part of her processing was left to dwell on this, she continued her examination of the Ensign. She was in excellent health, but there was much evidence of old fractures, concussions and deep tissue trauma. Some of the injuries had been poorly treated, probably the work of a Klingon medical officer - Klingon's were not really the best doctors. They cared too much for showing off scars. "Well Ensign, I can clear you for duty, since you are in excellent health, but as a doctor I would advise less contact with Klingons. They seem to be a physical hazard for you."
Illise sighed. "I don't think that's going to be a problem doc. With relations between the Federation and the Empire being what they are right now, I doubt I'll see another Klingon for a while, let alone have the opportunity to add to my medical misadventures."
"Klingons." Flores said, shaking her head. "Don't envy you."
S'kott smiled, poking the EMH one more time. "That's the most amazing thing I've ever seen."
Helga came back into the room with a PADD in hand just in time to see Schmidt poke the EMH. "I wouldn't do that if I were you. She might decide to poke you back." Helga gave the EMH a smile. "Her poking could very well entail a large needle or some other device to make sure you're healthy."
Helga handed Newmark the PADD. "Sorry, doctor, but I need this signed so I can get the science lab to send us the special sponges."
"She can do whatever the hell she wants." He said, shrugging.
"Oh Klingon's aren't so bad," Illise shot Flores a mischievous grin, "Even with their affinity for breaking bones they're actually very entertaining."
Galen rolled her eyes at the ensign. "It's up to you of course." She looked back at S'kott when he poked her. EMH technology had been around for decades, so she had never really thought that she would encounter anyone who had never seen one before, and she had most certainly had never thought that it would be her first patient. Being called 'amazing' though felt rather nice. "Thank you Lieutenant, no one has ever called me amazing before." She reached into her pocket and drew out an unnervingly large retro-styled needle, looked at it and then said to Helga, "Oh, I don't think that will be necessary. We are well past the dark ages of medicine here." The needle disappeared. Greg always disliked when she altered her physical subroutines to 'conjure' objects, as he called it. It was a quirk of her programming which he had tried to fix, but in the end it had been more trouble than it was worth.
Helga chuckled appreciatively. She took the signed PADD back to the front desk to transfer the data to the computer. When she returned to see if the doctor needed help, the physicals were completed.
