Mission: Deadly Diplomacy
ON
Arnon arrived at the VIP Conference Room dressed in his dress whites. Arnon looked 'rather dashing' in his whites so he hoped the Octurians might appreciate it. Octurians had a generally low opinion of males, but then Rigelian culture was Matriarchal and Rigelian women still appreciated a sharp dressed man. For some inexplicable reason, Arnon felt the need for a longer beard and a pair of sunglasses.
Sam arrived shortly after, also dressed in her formal white uniform. With the help of ESHa, she chose to wear a long white skirt that would show respect to the Octuran Delegation's customs. This time, she hoped, there would actually be talks.
"Hello, Lieutenant," she said to Arnon. She paused to survey the table and make sure it had everything they would need for the day.
The clicking of heels echoed on teh deck as Spartacus made her way through the door. She had opted for the Dress white Skirted uniform with calf high white boots. Her uniform was silk base in standard colors to match regulations. She wore slightly dangling ear rings and a small bracelet on her left wrist. The attire was proper as her legs were bare and she held a PADD slightly larger than normal. It was a specialized one that had the records she needed as well as some expanded memory just to keep any new notes she would get through the meeting.
"Samantha..." She smiled to the Commanding Officer. "Lieutenant Sir..." She bow slightly to the well dressed head of her department. "I had hoped to get here a little early in the event I might be required to change my uniform so not to provoke any hostilities?"
"No, I think you're fine," Sam said. At least, from what she'd read of both the Octuans and Panerians, Spartacus should be appropriately dressed.
Walking along the deck headed for the conference room, Cam was checking up on the Marines he had lining the corridor. Each one was dressed in their Dress Blues complete with covers and side arms. Cam figured that this show of strength should prevent any further incedents.
Walking into the conference room, Cam started looking over the four marines he had stationed inside. All were female marine with at least advanced hand to hand combat training.
Ignatz entered in yet a different silk purple robe, this one was trimmed with gold filigree and opened just above the waist to reveal fine black leather breeches, nearly matching calf-high leather boots and belt, both with gold buckles. He wore a burnished gold amulet around his neck with what appeared to be a star sapphire in it's center. He approached Sam and took a position beside her to wait for any last minute instructions.
Arnon positioned himself next to Ignatz. He gave the Chaplain a glance.
"You know, Lieutenant," he said. "I have two half-human children. When my daughter Rhiannon was young, she used to like me to read the story Puss 'N Boots to her all the time. Dressed like this, you rather remind me of the title character. Very nicely done indeed."
The Panerian Delegation arrived several moments later. They'd come straight from the transporter room, escorted by several Marines.
The leader of the team of delegates stood in teh doorway for a moment, assessing the room at large.
Sam noticed him and immediately walked over to the door. "Greetings. I am Commodore Samantha York of the USS Calypso. Welcome to my ship. May I get you anything?"
The man bowed slightly. "I am Jeronil. We need nothing but to begin talks."
Sam bowed in return. "Please, come in and have a seat. We will begin shortly."
Lynta entered with her two associates, one staying by the door and the other heading to stand behind her leader. "Greeting Samantha York, It is good to see you again and looking so regal." Lynta complemented.
"Thank you," Sam said, giving Lynta a respectful bow. "I am glad to see you are well."
"Greeting Jeronil, you have our Mourning for your fallen." Lynta bowed in a very respectful way with her aid following suit. "We thank you for appearing here."
Jeronil bowed in return. "Thank you. We have begun our own investigation into the murders."
He glanced at Sam. "No offense, Commodore, but we want to make sure our information corroborates your own."
"Of course," Sam said. She wasn't surprised, but that added one more element to the investigation. She wondered what they could be investigating when the murders took place aboard the ship. "I would appreciate reading your report when it is completed."
"And I yours," Jeronil replied.
"Of course," Sam said, looking to both Jeronil and Lynta. "You will both receive a full report when our investigation is complete."
Walking over to stand just behind and to the left of Sam, Cam leaned in to whisper in her ear, "the deck is secure and we have set up transport inhibitors to prevent any unexpected beam outs" he reported before standing up straight again.
Sam smiled in acknowledgment. "Good work, Captain."
The Commodore walked over to the table. "If you would all kindly take your seats, we can begin."
Once everyone had settled, Sam continued. "The PADDs before you have the list of terms both sides have requested. What do you wish to discuss first?"
