"Chris!" Sam hoped the pilot was awake and okay. If he was, maybe he could help her get free. She was concerned about Damon. She was afraid he would be helping someone else instead of getting the help he needed.
[NEW]
Chris sat there in darkness, he heard something nagging at him, something that told him to come back. There it was again, that sensation of something calling him, something from another reality. Chris began to move more quickly. He heard his name being called out this time. He began to move towards the sound of his voice. Chris began to open his eyes. The pain to the side of his head was tolerable, but it still hurt. Dry blood was caked in his hair as he found out when he instinctively placed his hand there to assess his injury. Sitting up, he figured he was fine and that others could use his help, once he came to his senses. He began to move looking around at the environment that he was now in and unbuckling himself he got up quickly. Feel light headed, he steadied himself with his seat back. Chris looked at his co-pilot was breathing, he wouldn't touch her since he saw the Doctor coming his way. Seeing Sam in a precarious position, he noticed a plea for help in her look. "Sam, are you alright?"
"I think so, but I can't get out. I need help, Chris."
After he had recovered his balance, he stepped towards Sam. Grabbing the seat where it held her leg tight, he tried with his hand to pull the seat enough for her to pull her leg free. "See if you can get free."
Sam began to pull her leg. At first nothing happened, but then, with a sharp pain, it came free and she was able to scramble over the armrest and out of her seat. Her leg had a large gash that was bleeding. As she set her right foot down, she almost fell, but she grabbed onto the arm of the chair and held on for a minute. Feeling was racing back into her leg and her ankle was throbbing painfully.
Sam smiled at Chris. "Thank you," she said. She put her foot down tentatively and was able to put her weight on it. Just sprained then. She gave Chris a big hug of thanks. "Damon's hurt," she said as she limped back to where the others were.
As soon as Leanne found the medikit, she took out the tricorder and walked to the front to attend to the co-pilot on the floor. She started the scans and waited for one minute till it beeped. The doctor found her injuries were nearly critical with 2nd degree burns to her chest, fracture rib, concussion, fracture of right arm and right leg, and lacerated spleen. She immediately went to work to deal with the major injuries before she can check on the other crewmember's injuries.
Samantha made her way back to Damon. She was shocked to see the blood on his head and face. "Damon?"
Damon hadn’t moved from where he last stopped; hands still propped up for support. His eyes were closed as he made a conscious effort to stop the deck from twisting in his vision.
A few concerned Marines asked if he needed help, but he waved them off and instead told them to tend to the other wounded, he could wait. Damon was more concerned about stabilizing the critical and securing the crash site than anything else.
He heard his name called from somewhere in the fog of his mind. It took him a few moments to piece together the voice and put a face to it. His eyes opened and blinked a few times, attempting to focus. He smiled faintly at the sight of Samantha standing in the corridor. Good; she was well enough to be mobile. The details of how were completely lost to him.
“Sam, I’m glad to see you’re okay.†He gave the best smile he could accomplish at the moment, which was somewhere between a drunken grin and a grimace. “Uh, we...we need...†He closed his eyes to collect his fading thoughts. “...to secure the crash site...and get a message to the Orion.â€
Sam's face had paled at the sight of Damon. She hurried over to him and put her arm around his waist to take him to the doctor. "I'll take care of that. First, I need to take care of you." It took some urging. She finally ordered one of the Marines to get on Damon's other side and help her take him to the doctor. "If you object, Lieutenant, I'll have to pull rank on you," she said sternly to Damon. She didn't want him to know how deeply concerned she was.
Limping badly, she helped get Damon up to where Doctor Bowen was tending to the co-pilot. "Doctor," she said as they sat Damon down in a chair. "He's got a head wound and he's losing consciousness."
Sam sent the Marine back to help the others, then she found a clean cloth and some bandages. She began to clean the blood off Damon's face as she gently set one of the bandages on the side of his head to help staunch the bleeding. "Doctor," Sam said, turning to look at Leanne, "Is there something I can do to help the Lieutenant?"
In the last couple of minutes since being seated Damon's vision had gotten worse to the point that it was affecting his body. He could feel that he was slightly swaying back and forth in time with the way things were spinning. In addition, a nearly irrisitible urge to fall asleep plagued him. In he back of Damon's mind he knew what falling asleep in his state could mean, but even this knowledge couldn't prevent what was happening.
With heavy eyes he slowly turned to look at Samantha. He reached his hand out and took her hand from attending to his wound and gave it a little squeeze.
"Thank you..." The words felt sluggish to him, but he continued. "Sam, get these people out...Talk to the Sergeant...he'll help."
'Not until you're okay. I'm not going anywhere until then. And I'm not going to let you fall asleep," she said sternly. She squeezed his hand back, not letting go of it. "Doctor. You need to come here now!"
