== Bridge. Calypso==
Munich was in command; he had a ship taking fire from all sides it seemed and the safety of all the crew seemed his responsibility. Perhaps his taking a single burst away from defending the ship was uncalled for, maybe he should have pointed that fire in suppression? The fact was a signal from ground forces called for air support and the fighters were getting through a defensive net; Munich knew from his time 'under fire' behind enemy lines that the Communications Man would call air support first thing.
While that bit of fire might have taken out some opposition would help the ground forces; it was a risk as the Calypso felt another impact, the shields were holding and Munich had a lot more on his mind; yet, he hoped his little 'diversion would also help give the fighters a general target to scan for more 'hostiles.?'
[NEW]
[Fighter Bay]
Phoenix dropped from the ship, her weapons ready. She carefully avoided the incoming fire, leaving the Calypso's weapons to do their job, and headed for the planet.
It wasn't hard to see where Orin had left his calling card. She went in tight and low, aiming her weapons at the spot.
As she approached, ground fire bounced off her shields. Instead of the strafing run she'd planned, she dropped two missiles and sped out of range.
Wedge was the first one out of the launch bay; as always, he had the full thrust going in attack mode. The shields were primed and he had the knowledge of his Wingman tucked in nice and tight.
Bojay slipped out of the Fighter Bay in close pursuit of Wedge. The two of them were just arcing upward in the direction to be in a protective position of the Calypso. There were missiles fired once before and it was their job to make sure that will not happen again.
"Take out the weapons and get back to the ship!" came the order.
[Team One]
Peter Parhtz felt around the wall in front of him. There had to be something here. Tricorders weren't working, so scanning was out of the question. Whatever the disruption field was, it was a pain in the nether regions. "Open sesame!" he said, figuring it was worth a try.
He wasn't surprised when nothing happened.
Maybe it's invisible and you only notice when you walk through it? He tried that -- keeping one hand up so he wouldn't bump his face on the rock. Still, nothing.
"You got any ideas, boss?" he asked Bourne.
Looking around at the walls, Cam wasn't sure what to do, "I'm afraid not. There has to be something, a marker, anything"
"A marker?" Peter got down on his hands and knees and began to look closely at the ground by the base of the rock. "Here's something. Looks like something was drug through here." He began to feel along the base of the rock until something gave. "Ha! I found it!" He pushed again, and the wall moved again. Another push and he was flat on his face, but there was now an opening in the rock wall.
The opening was narrow and dark, leading down into the rock itself.
Peter hopped up and brushed himself off. "Looks like a tunnel, Boss!"
Cam nodded, "good, form up on the entrance. I want to be in anf out as quick as possible. Stun anyone who attacks"
"Got it, Boss!" Peter said, lining up behind the other Marines.
[Team Two]
Bosley punched his fist in the air as the missiles hit their target. The screams as they hit their target made him smile. "Okay, let's get out of here before they regroup."
He led the way quickly down the path, hoping he wasn't taking them into more danger.
Orin watched as the 'Fighter' laid waste to the target he had painted. =^= Whoever you are I love ya! =^= Orin said as he glad his signal came through.
"I am the Terror that flaps in the night," came the almost-ethereal response from Phoenix.
"Flirt later," Thomas barked to Orin. "Fall in line."
He led them down the path at a rapid rate, weaving between rocks as he went, following what he hoped was still a path.
At last it stopped at a rock wall.
Thomas felt around the wall. "Gotta be something here. Paths don't end in rock."
He turned to the others. "See what you can find. Just be careful you don't trigger any more defense mechanisms."
A young Private nodded and began to feel the rock in ch by inch, looking for an indentation or something out of the ordinary to indicate a hidden mechanism.
After a while, she found one completely by accident. A small bush, when pulled on, opened a passage into the rock.
"Passage found, sir!"
"Okay, everyone, nice and slow. If you see a bogey, stun it. Got it?"
"Sir, yes, sir!" the Marines barked as they lined up to enter the tunnel into the rock mountain.
