Mission: Revenge

ON

Samantha sat at her desk re-reading the report. Leo. It wasn't Leo, but it was. It brought back so many memories of the former Marine CO that at first it was hard to think of this peerson as being someone else. But she knew he wasn't the Leo she knew. He was the Leo from this reality.

Well, she told herself, The best way to deal with the situation is to confront it directly.

She tapped her combadge. "Master Sergeant Mangalia, could you report to my ready room at your convenience?"

"At my convenience? What does that even mean?" Leroy asked himself before tapping his combadge and acknowledging. Being confused, he started moving the way he thought he needed to go, then stopped, turned around, stopped again, and sat in the hall for a minute wondering where he was supposed to go. "Excuse me, yeoman, where is the Captains ready room?"

"Take the turbolift thats three doors down on the right and say bridge. You can't miss it." Leroy smiled and nodded as the yeoman continued on her way. Getting to the lift he started his way to the bridge. Stepping out, he didn't notice the strange looks a couple of the Marines working the station gave him. Some evidently hadn't heard? Or was there something else going on with them? Hitting the chime to the Captains Ready Room, he put his hands behind his back and calmly waited.

"Come in," Sam said, turning her screen to the UFP logo. She stood as the door opened.

She'd expected to see Leo, and he did look a great deal like the Marine she'd worked with for several years, but he was also different. It wasn't just the way he looked, or his eyes. There was a general air about him that was very much unique to him. "Hello, Master Sergeant. Have a seat."

"Yes Ma'am," Leroy said with a grin as he sat, putting his right leg over his left, his ankle balancing on his knee. "I'm surprised to have been called here, I think I saw the Commander of 218 all of twice?"

"It's been a while since we had a new squadron leader," she said. "So I was curious. What made you decide to come to the Calypso?"

"I see, and it was picked for me," Leroy said still with that signature smile. "I pretty much go where I'm told and do what I'm told." Shrugging he didn't know what else. "Is there something wrong Commodore? Some of the people here act like they've seen a ghost."

Sam sighed. She would need to tell him ... something. "What's your security clearance?" she asked. She pulled out a PADD while she spoke to verify it.

"High enough to have supported Dignitaries, fire upon and run from enemy ships, learn enough about the classes of ships we're bound to find in any given area at any given time. I never asked for my clearance, I just accepted my job and decided the best way to do that. If I don't know what I'm allowed to know, how will the enemy find out what I'm supposed to know? I'm not good at playing dumb." Leo chuckled at the rambling thought that had just spewed from his mouth, then blushed a bit. "Sorry Ma'am, sometimes my word filter just decides to take a lunch break."

"Not a problem," Sam assured him. "This is probably above your clearance, but you should know that Leroy Mangalia was a former member of this crew. He looked just like you but he was a Marine. Simply, he was you from a parallel universe. That part is classified. But you'll get a lot of strange looks until people who've been around for a while get used to you."

"Ma'am, if there's going to be issues because the first Leo left or something, then I mean I could always talk to them. I don't want people to think he's back from some sabatical or something and treat me how ever they treated him."

"He died, Lieutenant. So you'll get a few odd looks, but Leo was well-respected, so once they get used to you, I don't think you'll have any trouble." She gave him a reassuring smile. "But a good part of the crew didn't know him, so it'll only be a few people. Besides, don't they say everyone has a twin somewhere in the galaxy?"

"Yea, but I never took that seriously," the look of amusement had nearly drained off of Leroy's face. He looked past the Captain, and the smile came back. "He gave you that didn't he? The flag."

"Yes, he did," she said. "I don't think you'll have a problem fitting in. It'll take people a few weeks to get used to you, then everything will be fine." She considered him for several seconds. "Is there anything you need at this point?"

"No Ma'am, I think that about covers it. If you need anything at all, feel free to look me up."

"Same here," Sam said. "You know where to find me if you need anything. You're dismissed."
