Mission: Tabula Rasa

[CONTINUED]

Gaia took her bowl, a big spoon and a dull knife with a bad handle she walked back out of the building that would serve as a kitchen of sorts for now. There had been a huge pot in the space and she would have loved to bring it with her but she was unable to move it herself. A image flashed in her mind and she finally put a name to the image, it was a twin. I was why she felt incomplete at the moment and yet to she felt quite fine as if it were natural that they had been separated. Gaia thought that perhaps she would try and search for her sister but had the feeling that she would be far away. Gaia walked out of the building and as she moved she spied more mushrooms that were edible she picked them. Soon Gaia found herself with the group and stood on the out skirts a bit hesitant to enter it. She knew that she was apart of this group of people and yet she was not. It was quite a disconcerting feeling.

Helga wandered through the open compound, checking on people who were still unconscious to make sure they were okay. She was glad the weather was mild so there were no cases of hypothermia.

Maria looked at Helga. "Who are you?"

"I am Helga."

"Who am I?"

Helga picked up Maria's wrist and looked at her armband. "You are Maria."

"Where are we?"

"I have no idea," Helga said. "All I know is that there are people who need my help." She smiled at Maria and moved on to tend to someone else.

Gaia turned away and started to walk, there had to be more here then the few that had shown up here. There was some sort of clique going on and it was not a good thing. As she walked soon she found something that looked like some sort of root she bent down and dug it up. It was orange in color and came up, she moved a bit more and found another. She dug and pulled it out as she followed she found more. It was slow going but at least it was better then doing the random where are we. Gaia had no more of a clue of where they were then they did but she was doing something productive. She would not starve. Gaia thought about clique's, why would a group of people on a planet who had names on their wrist automatically clique? "A hierarchical system perhaps?" She muttered "That must be it. So where would I fit into such a system?"

Trent watched as this strange woman made her way through the fields and periodically stopped to pull vegetation from it. With almost a spring in his step he made his way over to her. "So, what's for lunch?" He asked as he plopped to the ground beside where she stood.

Gaia didn't hesitate "Soup, vegetable I think" She paused to look at him "Do you cook?"

"Noop, but I eat. I'll pick whatever you point at if you spare a bowl for me."

Gaia handed a extra bowl of sorts to Trent. "This..." She showed him a carrot and "this" she dug up a few of what looked like a purple potato of sorts. She handed him a extra spoon. "They are located all along in here." Gaia smiled as she gestured with her hand that held a spoon in it. She then moved and knelt and started to dig some more. "We won't need too many for all the people we see here." She pointed at the others "But if more gathered together then this will be something that needs to be done everyday until we run out. We will need to plant the remains of the ends of the vegetables so they reproduce." Gaia frowned slightly she didn't know how she knew that but she did.

"Ooh. You are thinking of cooking for everyone?" Trent shook his head and whistled. "I've just decided that you might be the most dangerous person here." He knelt down and tugged at one of the roots she mentioned. "You do realize that you aren't cooking for a united organized group, right?"

Gaia answered "I really don't think that it matters much if we are all united or not. I understand that I never quite belonged with the group." Gaia paused at that realization and blushed slightly in embarrassment because she spoke with one of those who belonged with the other group.

She continued "I do know I can cook this without much effort. It will be delicious." She flashed him a quick grin. "You yourself said you were already hungry." She moved a bit farther and found something that might be wheat and gathered bunches of it. "I will cook us something to eat and then if the others want I can make then something. Maybe I can trade food sources from them to cook meals." She started to hum softly to herself a light Jazz tune.

Samantha took a deep breath when she reached the outer edge of the compound. She didn't know why, but she felt better being out in the bush. There was a faint trail leading off from the camp. Once she had her bearings she headed down it to see where it would lead.

"Hey Sam wait up!" Alexandra called out to her.

Sam turned. "I'm not going that fast." She grinned to show she wasn't irritated with the comment. "I want to have a look at what's out here."

"Somehow I don't think exploring this far out is a good idea." Damon said following up the rear. "I'd feel a lot better if we just went back and sort out what we know so far."

"We don't have enough information," Sam said, giving Damon a bright smile. "There's a path here for a reason and I think we should find out what it is."

She took the lead, uncaring if the other two followed her. Well, uncaring if Alexandra followed her. She hoped Damon would. She still liked him, temper and all.
