It's going to be a long night...

Mission: What Dreams May Come?
Location: Chief Engineer's Quarters

She stood there in a corner. The sounds of buzzing and electronics could be hard around her, she couldn't move she was powerless. Her clothes had been removed and she stood there completely exposed, feeling vulnerable and delicate.
"Where am I?" she cried out, her seven year old voice soft and innocent. A figure walked around the corner. She looked up into its face, the red laser beam scanning over her trembling body.
"Daddy..." she cried, stood still not being able to move.
"Ruby" the drone said. "Its time to come home. You belong with us. We are your family, we are your parents. All of us" a croaky voice said.

More Borg drones appeared behind him, all their hands outstretched.
"Come home Ruby. Join us, resistance is futile"

Ruby shot up in bed screaming.
"JOURDAN!" she cried out. "JOURDAN HELP!" she cried out louder pulling the blankets up close and cowering up against the wall.

Jourdan rushed in to find Ruby crying her eyes out cowering up against the wall in her bed.
"Jourdan!" Ruby cried, her eyes full of tears. "Help me, please, help me!".
"Whats up Ruby?" Jourdan said rushing to her side and sitting next to her on the bed.
"It was the Borg! They want to assimilate me!" Ruby cried. Jourdan moved over and puleld Ruby in close to her.
"No they don't darling, it was just a bad dream. Dreams can't hurt you". Jourdan could feel Ruby crying into her, she was genuinly scared and petrified of the Borg. It was understandable as she was assimilated by them and then rescued by the Calypso crew. Jourdan couldn't help but wonder what it must be like to be forced to do things against your will and have no control over your own body and mind.

"Jourdan" Ruby sobbed. "Why are the Borg here? Why do they exist?" she sniffled.
"I don't know sweetheart" Jourdan replied holding her tight and stroking her hair to comfort her.
"I haven't dreamed about them before" Ruby cried. "They are really scary, I don't want them to get me".
"I won't let them, I will never let them get you. I promised to look after and care for you, and I will never let The Borg get their horrible hands on you again" Jourdan explained. She could feel Ruby shaking in terror from the dream.
"How would you feel about some hot chocolate and some cookies?" Jourdan asked.
"Yes please"

[10 minutes later]

Ruby held the cup of hot chocolate with extra milk and marshmallows.
"Better?" Jourdan asked. She had never been woken up in the night before by a screaming child, she had always wanted children but getting up for them in the middle of the night had been one part of motherhood she didn't prefer.
"Yeah" Ruby said as she sipped the hot chocolate.
"Good" Jourdan said. "Now do you think that my little angel will be able to sleep again?"
Ruby gave her a smile and a nod, soon she had drunk up the rest of the hot chocolate and after hugs and kisses she was tucked up back in bed.

With Ruby fast asleep Jourdan went back to her own bed. She had no idea that a seven year old child would wake up screaming. She supposed that it was just part of her recovery from her traumatising time. Jourdan shifted back into a light sleep, still aware that Ruby might have bad dreams again.

[3 hours later]

"JOURDAN!" Ruby screamed and cried out. Jourdan sat upright in her bed alert and ready to jump into action.
"JOURDAN HELP! PLEASE!" Ruby's voice cried out louder. Jourdan sighed as she grabbed her dressing gown and slipped on her slippers. Tonight is going to be a long night...
