Mission:
A Pirate's Life
Location: Shuttlecraft: Cerberus and USS Calypso
Timeline: Before Funeral
ON:
"So then, when they thought I was dead, I set off the EMP mine and rolled away. While they were disoriented, I got up knocked them all out." Lieutenant Shepard said as he looked over to his friend, Lieutenant Kingsley. He laughed and then looked back to the console.
Kingsley looked over from his console and shared in the laugh. "And you finished your mission and got out without being compromised?"
"Of course." Shepard replied with a smirk.
"I did the same thing on Rikkus III. Except, I didn't use several EMP grenades, just one." Max said from out of the blue. They turned around and saw him sitting in one of the back seats, which was empty the last they checked.
"How did you get out, Admiral?" Kingsley asked
"You see, boys. You agents today think that quantity does better of quality, but I learned that it only takes one to knock out an entire power system. One placed is just the right spot." Max looked up from his PADD and smiled slyly as he looked back to.
The other two officers laughed and went back to working until they came up on the Calypso. "USS Calypso this is the Cerberus we have a VIP from Starfleet onboard. Please respond and order your Captain to meet us upon docking."
==Main Bridge==
"Commander, a shuttlecraft carrying a federation VIP from Starfleet is requesting clearance to dock and wishes to have Commodore York meet them in the shuttle bay." The Flight Control officer said turning to Vance for direction.
Bureaucrats....how timely...Alexandra thought to herself rubbing her forehead and sighing. "Grant clearance to shuttlebay one and inform the shuttle I will be greeting them as Commodore York is not to be disturbed. Lieutenant Browning, you have the bridge."
Alexandra rose from the chair and marched hastily to the turbolift.
"Ma'am?...." he asked trying to intercept her.
"The orders were clear Lieutenant, no questions are required or permitted. Just sit in the chair and notify me should anything transpire." Vance said sternly as the doors slid closed.
The Flight Control officer shrugged at Browning whom looked bewildered and turned back to his console.
=^="Shuttle Cerberus this is the Calypso. You are cleared for docking in shuttlebay one. Our XO Commander Vance will be there to meet you."=^=
==Shuttle: Cerberus==
"Acknowledged, Calypso. Cerberus out." Shepard replied as he touched the console and turned to Max. "Admiral? Their XO Commander Vance will be meeting us."
Max smiled as he heard the name, it almost made him laugh as he put down the PADD and locked the screen. "Thats unacceptable, but it will have to do for now. Begin decent and get ready to look mean and stern." He walked back to his chair and picked up the PADD. "Good old, Ice Queen." He mumbled as he walked to the back room.
"Ice Queen?" Kingsley said as he looked over to Shepard.
"It's not our place to ask, Ben. Leave it alone." Shepard replied and then started the decent into to Shuttlebay one.
Kingsley looked back to his console and started to work. "It's just that I remember hearing about someone they used to call Ice Queen back at Intel."
"Can't be the same one. This one is in Command. No one ever leaves Intel." Shepard added as he approached the shuttlebay doors.
Kingsley looked over to Shepard and then back to his console. He didn't like knowing that piece of information, but he was right. Intel will always have work for you. No matter where you go, if your needed, they will find you and enlist you.
==Shuttlebay 1: Calypso==
The shuttle touched down in the shuttlebay and stayed idle for a while. The forcefield came back on and the doors slowly began to come down again. Kingsley and Shepard got out of their seats and headed to the back room where Max was already in his Admiralty Gray's.
Kingsley walked over to the door and was about to hit button until Max spoke up. "Not yet, Lieutenant. Let it sit there a while. Give them time to show up and think about why we are here. Never play your hand unless you know you've got them where you want them."
Kingsley nodded and took his hand away and stood there waiting. He wasn't the one to argue with a high ranking officer, but even when it came from Max, it was words of wisdom.
Vance waited outside the door for it to open. Always a game isn't it? she thought to herself. The presence of her old friend was proving a soothing distraction from her burdens. She could feel her concentration becoming more focused and her wits sharpening.
"Ma'am?" a security officer asked.
"Patience....Not all of us are trigger happy cowboys." she replied smugly.
Max looked over to Kinglsey and nodded. The door slowly opened and then the ramp as Kinglsey and Shepard, both in security uniforms stepped out and stood by the door. They both looked stern and emotionless as Max came down and looked around. He also had a stern look as his face as he stepped out, wearing his Admiralty Grays, which was different for anyone who knew him.
"Admiral on deck." Kingsley said as he stood up straight as Max stepped off and looked around, finally focusing to Vance.
"Where is your Captain?" Max said sternly as he walked over to her, unamused.
"She had more important matters to attend to Admiral, she sends her regrets." Vance replied in an equal tone.
Max looked at her, up and down, and then to the security officers stand by Vance. "We can wait." He walked back towards the shuttle. "Remind your Captain we don't have all day, please."
"Commodore York is currently mourning the loss of a....friend, I cannot tell you how long she will be." Vance replied with her straightest face trying not to let the Admiral in on what she had done, even though he would know soon enough.
