[OLD]
Damion put his hands on his head again. The jumble of noise inside her head seemed to give him more mental strain. There was so much confusion going on that even he, couldn't make sense of it all. "What's with all the thoughts of you thinking I am sending you away? Your the one the keeps saying you should leave when I am trying to keep you from leaving." He ran his hands through his hair and looked down. "No matter how much I try to convince you to stay, you keep telling yourself that you should leave."
[NEW]
"You don't sound like you want me to stay," she replied. "All I hear is how much you're afraid of what might happen and how much you don't want to hurt me. That if you could be with anyone, it would be me. That makes it sound like you can't -- or don't want to."
"I do want to be with you, Ronnie. I am just telling you that things are going to be bumpy and I am concerned that all the things that may come up will make you think about me differently." Damion sighed slightly, his anxiety was working overtime. He wasn't wanting this to go in the direction it was going. "I don't want you to think I don't love you while its all happening."
"I've been on the Calypso for three years. Bumpy is part of the course here."
"And how many times, within those three years, have you been in a relationship with someone?" Damion paused for a moment, feeling himself getting more and more frustrated with the situation. "I am not talking about chit chatting and one-night stands. I mean a serious relationship, where you cared so deeply about the other person that when you weren't around them, you hurt inside." He put his hand on his chest, eyes slightly teary. "Like a nagging pain that was unlike any pain you ever felt like. Worse that a disruptor blast, a knife wound, or any amount of broken bones. One that can't be cured, or eased, or even treated. A constant pain that almost made you beg for a quick death... or even a painfully slow one." He looked over to her, with slight tears rolling down his cheek as he gripped his shirt in his hand, squeezing it tighter. "Just to make it stop. Just to keep you from ever feeling this pain again. Just an empty place in your heart, like it wasn't even there at all. Like a piece of your very soul was missing."
"Never until you," she whispered. She wouldn't tell him how much it hurt to see Johny, knowing it was Damion and he didn't recognize her, knowing that if he didn't remember who he was, she'd lose him forever. But she'd go through it all again if it meant they could be together in the end.
"And not until you has it been so important for me to be somewhere." Damion replied, still holding his chest. His eyes were still slightly teary, but he was doing his best to hold it back. "I thought this going to be just another short tour till they needed me somewhere, but now I find myself hoping to God or whatever is out there that I don't get taken away from you, or this place. When they... If they ever reactivate me, then I will do everything in my power to find someone else, or to get back quickly. For you, Ronnie." He stood there looking at her, trying to hide his fear that, in the middle of his emotion state, he almost let it slip what the real problem was.
"Then why are you pushing me away?" she asked. "Why keep warning me off as if you don't want me?"
"I don't mean to warn you off. I know, to you, it sounds like it, but it's not what I was going for. I was only trying to let you know that its gonna be bumpy and, no matter what, I do love you with all my heart, Ronnie." Damion replied, taking his hand away from his chest.
She dropped her head to his chest and sighed. "Then why didn't you say so to begin with?" The fear and stress was fading but she still wasn't completely sure of what he wanted.
"I thought I did." He ran his hand through her hair, wrapping his arms around her as he closed his eyes. "I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I promise it won't happen again. Alright, Ronnie?"
Ronnie nodded. It probably would happen again at some point, but for now she hoped they were finally on the same page.
Damion still felt her doubts, but that was natural. She had more of a empathic sense then she realized. Part of him was relieved, so when she did understand what was going on, he would have no problem explaining to her what was really going on. He was also worried that this could backfire on him, mainly because he could get in trouble for telling her, but he was still under orders.
"So, now what? You've still been avoiding me for days."
"No. No." Damion whispered softly as he pulled back a bit, to look into her eyes. "I won't avoid you, anymore. I won't be away from you, anymore. I want use to work this out. Get back to where we were again. I can't stand the pain of being without you."
Ronnie looked up at him and smiled. "I haven't gone anywhere. I'm not planning on going anywhere, either. Not without you, anyway."
"Me neither." Damion swallowed his words and smiled. He leaned in and kissed her, locking her into a passionate and long awaited kiss. He knew what he told her was a lie, as much as he didn't want it to be. He was determined to find a way to avoid what was coming, but until he did, he was stuck with his orders. And his orders would eventually lead him off the ship.
