Mission: Subjugation
ON
Samantha woke slowly. Her head throbbed and there was something wrong with the surroundings. It was quiet. Too quiet.
She slowly opened her eyes and scanned the area. She was in a room with white walls. There was a faint smell of medicine. Sickbay? She sat up quickly and then lay back down. Not a good idea. It made her head throb.
She closed her eyes until the worst of the pain subsided. Where was Damon? She used her telepathy to reach out to him. He was nearby, well but sleeping. Sam smiled in relief. At least there was that. Now, to find out where they were.
They weren't in the mines. The ever-present smell of dirt, ore and burning was gone. So were the sounds of banging on rock. They weren't on a starship, either. There was a feel about a starship that was lacking here. More anger, more locked-down thoughts. More ... fear? It felt like fear and anger and pride. A strange combination.
The last thing she remembered was trying to get out of the guard tower with Damon, then a sharp pain as if she'd been hit in the back. It didn't give her much to go on. She looked around carefully. The room was spartan. A bed, a table, a chair. Standard ship lighting. A door. She'd have to get up and have a look as soon as she could sit up without her head feeling like it was being used as a bongo drum.
Sam next became aware that she herself didn't smel like smoke and molten ore. She was ... clean. But ... who?
An odd man walked into the room. Behind him were two gruesome looking men carrying a tray of medical supplies. The man himself was Romulan, with a slight scar on the side of his face. "Sit up, Starfleet!" He immediately yelled as he stopped in front of Sam, looking down at her. One of the man nudge him from behind and he only responded with a seemingly irritated growl. He closed his eyes and then opened them. "Sit up.." He paused almost like he was hesitating to continue, but he knew he would only regret it if he didn't. "Please. Sit up, please." He cleared his throat and tried to smile, but it only came off as more forced then anything else.
His attitude was incredibly odd. She wondered why he was so reluctant to help, but had a feeling she'd find out soon enough. She sat up slowly so her head wasn't throbbing as much.
"My name is Telrick." He replied and looked at her, holding his fake smile. After about a few seconds he suddenly yelled out. "Tricorder!" Both crewmen jumped at the scream and handed the tricorder quickly to Telrick. "Your going to need to breathe slowly for me." He close his eyes and hesitated again before continuing. "Please." He opened his eyes again, going back to his fake smile as he opened the tricorder and began his scan.
Sam gently touched his surface thoughts. Ordered to be nice? She breathed slowly for the doctor, saying nothing. She wanted to figure out what was going on before she said something she might regret. At this point, with the doctor's odd behavior, anything could be the wrong thing to say.
The doors slid opened again as a Ferengi in a colorful suit and tie walking with a Large Padd in his hands as he pushed up his glasses and stopped behind the doctor. "Doctor Pointy Ears. The Captain requests our guests presence on the bridge. I was sent here to make sure you were giving her the proper ordered treatment... and." He paused as he looked down at his PADD and back to Telrick, pushing up his glasses again. "To make sure your not doing anything-"
"Mister Gibbs!" Telrick turned around, staring at the Ferengi with narrowed eyes. "If you insist on calling me that name I will make sure the next time you fall asleep, you wake up... as a woman!" He continued to stare at him before slowly turning his head back to Sam. "Your health is good." He paused for a moment and closed his eyes before getting nudged by Gibbs. "Please.." Telrick opened his eyes and smiled his fake smile. "Stay in good health."
"Trust me, I have every intention of doing so," Sam assured him. "What about Damon? Have you made sure that he, too, is in good health?"
Telrick smiled as he looked over to Damon's body, which laid limp and motionless on the biobed. He walked over to him, pulling out his tricorder and ran a quick scan. "His health is also good, however our orders are to ensure your healthy and fit to walk. Our orders regarding Mister Raine are as follows." He looked down at his tricoder and closed it before turning around and walked back to Sam. "Keep him alive and healthy, but unconscious until further orders come in. If you don't approve, you are free to take it up with the Captain and-."
"And so you shall." Gibbs said loudly as he put his hand on Sam's arm and pulled slightly. Telrick seemed unamused at being interrupted again. "Please come with me and all your concerns, comments, and questions will be taken care of in the order they are received. Come come come. We have a schedule to keep and I have much more important errands to run."
"Gibbs! How many times have I told you to stop interrupting me?" Telrick slammed his tricorder onto the tray.
"If you insist on being so long winded, you don't leave me much choice in the matter." Gibbs lurched forward as he seemed to smile mischievously. "However, if you care to pay for my silence, I will be happy to allow you to be as long winded as you want."
Telrick leaned forward as he picked up a laser scalpel and held it up to his face. "Get out of my sickbay, Gremlin."
Gibbs took a moment to eyeball the scalpel then looked back up to Telrick. He smile again as he turned and walked to the door. "Come along now, Captain York. Much to do. Much to do."
