Mission:
Subjugation
Location: In the Mines
ON
It was one hour before curfew, a good time to talk without fear of guards, who were using this time to take a break before they checked all the camps at curfew.
Sam looked into the fire in the barrel for several moments before turning to the small gathering. "We're growing in numbers, but there are still too many missing. I'd like your help in finding them."
Cassandra nodded. "You'll need someone who can fight. I'm in." Cassandra said, having made peace with the fact that Sam had knocked her unconscious, because Sam had also collected Daniels. She looked to the Ensign, and pondered, briefly.
"Sounds like fun." Tyler said, with a nod. "Count me in."
"If it's all the same-" The Cardassian woman started.
Daniels shook his head. "I trust the people here, Jill. But the Captain's right. The longer we stay here, the longer we risk getting one of us killed."
"She doesn't really seem like a big, scary warrior." Tramira whispered softly, nodding to the Captain.
Daniels chuckled. "You'd think that, most of the time. That's where her strength lies." He ruffled the girl's hair, gently.
Sam walked over to Tramira and knelt down. "Have you heard the saying, Never come between a mama bear and her cub? Think of me as a mama bear and my crew are my cubs. I'll do whatever it takes to get you out of here safely. And, as you are part of ... Chuck's family, you are now also part of mine."
She stood and looked at the others. "Suggestions on how to best achieve this?"
Sophia stood nearby. "I will help where I can, but plots and schemes have never been my strong suit."
Sam nodded. "Understood. Your job is to help us keep sane." She looked at the others. "Anyone else?"
"I'm not tagged with an IED." Tyler said. "I know this for fact. I spent a whole day hiding in a corner, and didn't explode. I'll be happy to help search for people. I'm bored of having nothing to do."
Sam pulled out a piece of paper. "This is where we've looked so far. The situation in Sectors 1 through 3 is getting a little heated. Don't go in there alone. If you have to, go in groups of three and keep a low profile. As you find crew from the Calypso or Von Braun, bring them back here. I have acquired authorization for this." She didn't mention who she had to bribe to get it. "Also look out for Hur'Rak and Magok in Sectors 8 and 4, respectfully. They're also looking for trouble." And they weren't too happy with Sam at the moment.
"I can probably get you a free pass through Sector 3 and maybe even to the lower mine sector, I think it's 15." Trent said as he walked up to the group. It was the first time he had seen a familiar faces in weeks. "As for Sectors 1 and 2... well, there is a kill order on me."
"Nobody cares about me." Tyler noted. "I'm just some mopey guy who misses his wife. I don't attract much attention. I volunteer for Sectors 1, and 2, then."
Daniels winced. "I've... uh... not made... many friends..." He stammered. He looked to Tramira, then Jill. A strange smile crossed his face. "Just a couple who matter, really."
Jill whisked by him, taking just a pause, to kiss his cheek. "I, however, have made a negative impression on just one deceased Bolian. If you need someone to pretend to be new, I'm game. I've only been in Sector 4. Just like Chuck, here. And the little one."
"Ah..." Daniels said, after clearing his throat. "It's Daniel, actually."
"Daniel Norris?" Jill asked.
"No." He turned slightly red. "Daniel Daniel Daniels."
"Your parents were fond of the name." Jill said, with a chuckle.
"My sister's name is Danielle Danietta Daniels." He said, wincing.
Jill simply chuckled, and shook her head.
"Until we exhaust every other option, no one goes into Sectors 1 and 2," Sam said sternly. "I've been in both sectors a time or two. I haven't been to Sector 15." She smiled at Trent. "You won't be going to Sector 1 or 2, either."
Trent gave the Captain a grateful nod. "Thank you ma'am, I'm not one for suicide runs unless there is a very good reason." He stole a glance to the sector entrance. "I shouldn't be gone for too long, any number of people may coming looking for me, especially now."
"They're welcome to come in. They won't be able to do anything, however," Sam said, her tone steely. "You're not the first person who'se needed a safe place."
"Heh, I don't think you understand. I'm less worried about my people coming to find me and more worried about the 'other' guys. I have quite a bone to pick with a few of them. If i stay here, I invite war on everyone. Best to stay safe and away."
"I have two Sector Bosses who want to see me dead -- or worse," Sam said quietly. "I don't think you'll add that much more danger. I think you'd be more of an asset here, helping me keep the others safe."
"I'm not very comfortable in Sector 6." Cassandra said, with a scowl. "Neither is Stran. We've got some paradigm issues with the Vulcan in command there."
"I have not manage to piss off too many sector bosses. I am pretty free to move around where I'm needed."
Sam nodded. "Understood. Now, once we're all together, how do we get out of here?"
"Well-" Daniels started.
"Yes?" Sam asked, raising an eyebrow.
"This is not the time for tom-foolery, Ch... Daniels." Jill said, with a frown. "We need some form of craft, or a distress beacon, and a vessel to be looking for us. Does anyone here know where to find either of these items?"
Doc limpd up to the edge of camp and caught the question, " I known of a ship wreck that serve well for booth of those, but right now I have reason that you are all in danger." Doc said.
"We already know we're in danger," Sam said. "We've been in danger since we got here. What ship are you referring to?"
"Someone attacked me on the way here and took lieutenant Lancaster hostage and is on the way here now." Doc manged to to get out before collapsing to the ground.
