ON

[OLD]

Damion nodded. "Her backgrounds are legend in Starfleet Intelligence. She gives you everything from a profile to a birth certificate. No background check has even been proven false or risked an agents life. You might like her, you know if you give her a chance."

[NEW]

"We'll see," Ronnie promised. "Did she give you anything you could use to find the Commander?"

"Basically, most of the usual stuff that you saw." Damion replied and then leaned down and grabbed his coffee. "Did you find anything?"

"Nothing significant. There are three nebulae in the area that could hide ships. One gas cloud. Except for that, not much, I'm afraid. I think your ... friend ... has the right idea. Her information on where to start looking seems pretty solid."

He nodded in response and then took a sip of his coffee again. Damion picked the PADD back up and looked it over. "Thats why I always trust, Vanya." He said as he looked at Ronnie, putting the PADD down on his lap. "You have no idea the trouble it is to get her on a comlink. I went through three Admirals before speaking with Admiral who finally connected me to Vanya. Thats why I only use her as a last resort and when its important."

"How often do you have to get in touch with her?" Ronnie asked.

"Rarely. Last time I had to get hold of her is when I needed an alias on the last ship I was on." Damion smiled and then laughed a little bit. "That was fun. She set me up with a slick talking dealer hooked up with the Orion Syndicate. I had one guy believing we had met before and I never met him till that day."

Ronnie grinned. "Impressive. How many aliases do you have? If I can ask."

"Couple, believed it or not. Some of them help when I need specific information and other stuff." Damion picked up a different PADD and brought up a list of some of his old aliases. He handed it to her.

She slowly thumbed through the PADD, looking over the list of names and occupations. "You have a very ... colorful ... collection," she joked.

"Interesting thing is they are all different in style and personality." Damion took the PADD and got closer to her, going through the list. "Take this one for example. Vincent Vegas. He is like a character straight from the old Las Vegas strip. He is a card playing, slick talking, and expensive suit wearing showboat. Everything has to be expensive or its not worth his time." He laughed and then brought up another one. "This guy is Johnny 'Death' Soprano. A classic wise guy bodyguard. He has his own rap sheet and everything. I used him for a Intel job on a planet that looked like classic Earth from the 1930's."

"Are all your aliases stereotypes of one kind or another? And people actually believe them?" she asked. "Nothing pesonal. I'm sure you play them well, but several of them seem to come out of old Earth movies."

"How many Orion Syndicate members do you think watch old Earth Movies?" Damion laughed and then smiled. "You know the old saying, there is no such thing as an original idea anymore. So the best thing to do, at least I found out, was to use an old idea and add your own spin to it. Besides, they work. As long as you have the right background and files to back it up, plus the attitude, no one will ever second guess it."

"You have a good point. At least it'll be easier to get into character if you base it off a movie character or stereotype." She set down the PADD and looked at Damion, her expression part questioning, part teasing. "Did you really just tell me you love me as if it were nothing out of the ordinary? It reminds of when I was seven and Timmy Johnson told me he loved me and gave me a frog. I was more interested in the frog."

"Ordinary?" Damion looked at her insulted and caught off guard. The last thing He wanted was for her to think he didn't mean it when he said that he loved her. "No.. Ronnie." He said softly. "In my line of work I never got too attached to people. Mainly because I never knew how long I would be around. I never meant it when I said those words to anyone... until now, anyway." He ran his hand through her hair with a slight smile. "If you were empathic, it would be easier because you would feel it from me, but your not. Please trust me when I tell you that I do love you and its far from ordinary."

Ronnie smiled and kissed him. "I do trust you. It's just that ... well, you're the first one I've fallen in love with since Tommy and I'm just a little scared. Bear with me. Once it sinks in, I'll be fine."

Damion just smiled after the kiss. She could have told him the secret to eternal life and he wouldn't have heard it all that well. He was more focused on that kiss. He let out a sigh and then leaned in and kissed her again, resting his hand on the side of her face.

For several moments neither spoke. Finally Ronnie broke the kiss and hugged him. She was so relieved to have things cleared up between them.
