Mission: The Race for the Lost Treasure
Location: Conference Room

ON

Sam had everything set up to go look for Damon. Now all she needed was to brief the crew and see how many of them would go with her. She fidgeted at the table as she waited for the others to arrive.

Levue entered the conference room first. She took a seat 30 degrees to Sam's Left. She nodded to the Captain, and privately pondered what this meeting was about.

Sophia retrieved a cup of tea, then took her traditional place at the table and waited for the others to arrive.

Leo walked in, his hair still wet from a shower. He preferred his hot water to a sonic shower, it just felt better. His hair had started growing, but it was only the top of the high and tight that did so. It was brought back, and into a loose pony tail. The rest of his head was shaved bald. Walking over, he went to the replicator and tapped his order, coming back with a large white plastic cup. If someone looked inside, all they would see was a light robin eggs blue color, and smell nothing. Taking a sip, the light in his eyes started to get a little brighter, and he seemed a lot more awake. "Morning Captain," he said trying to keep himself from speed talking.

Doctor Bowen entered the room a few minutes after Leo with a cup of coffee in hand. "Morning...", she said as she took a seat and placed her mug on the table. Then, she yawned silently, knowing that she didn't sleep well the night before. Leanne was called in for an emergency during the night shift to assist with Doctor Valdez for a complicated surgery, lasting nearly two hours.

"Good morning," Sam replied.

Levue nodded. "Ma'am." She appeared awake, and attentive, and not requiring chemical stimulation.

Damion walked in with Ronnie. He had his usual black cup of coffee. The two came in laughing, they seemed to be sharing a joke. Then both of them sat down together at the table. Damion looked around and then greeted everyone with a slight nod before taking a sip of his coffee.

Marek walked in following Jourdan and they assumed seats next to each other. Both greeted the rest of the senior and assistant staff before the Captain began the meeting.

Patrick arrived, on time, but barely, He'd been absorbed in designing some mods for underwater sensors and had lost track of the time. He found a vacant seat and settled in with his over-sized cup of coffee and PADD.

Noelle walked in just before the meeting began and found a spot against the back wall. Out of the way, yet able to see everything that was going on.

As soon as everyone was seated, Sam began. "Thank you all for coming. Nine days ago, Commander Damon Raine began his journey back to the Calypso. Seven days ago, he left Starbase 24 aboard the USS Faraday. Five days ago all contact from the USS Faraday ceased. Two ships have already been dispatched to find out what happened. So far, they found nothing. Commander Raine and the entire crew of the Faraday are listed as missing."

"I presume we're leading a search party. I'll have as many people as possible to assist. I'd recommend leaving Mrs. Tyler behind, to take charge of Security and Tactical, strictly because her field suit only lasts for about 3 days without a recharging station, and she gets cranky without it." Levue said, with a nod.

Sam had to smile at that. "We're not exactly leading a rescue. The Calypso will be stopping at Starbase Typhon for some upgrades for the next month. The USS Von Braun is heading out to do another search of the area. They're happy to take some of us along to assist. This will be on a strictly volunteer basis. Those who don't want to come along can enjoy an extended shore leave."

Leo set his glass down and looked Sam up and down. "Where do the Marines sign? He's one of ours, we're not going to sit back and not know what happened."

Noelle nodded in agreement "I'm in."

Levue nodded. "In that event, ma'am, I'm recommending Ensigns Stran, and Daniels for extended shore leave, and volunteer the rest of the department, for them."

"I would prefer it if THEY decide for themselves, but I'll take your recommendation under advisement." Sam personally preferred having the two with her as they'd been on several away missions with her and she knew what they were capable of. "Junior officers will have mandatory shore leave. I don't want them involved in this. Senior staff and those holding higher positions can volunteer." She looked at Leo. "I know a lot of the Marines will want to go. Limit it to Platoon Leaders and up."

"Due respect, ma'am, Daniels and Stran have been through particularly stressful times, of late. My crew selections are done with efficiency in mind." Cassandra noted.

"The men won't be happy, but I'll see what I can do cap," Leo said speeding up his speech. The drink was almost pure caffeine, and it was starting to make his heart race.

"Duly noted, Lieutenant Levue. I still want them to have a say." Sam glanced at Leanne and nodded to the Marine. He looked like he was in need of the doctor's attention.

Leo smiled at Sam, then pushed the drink a bit away from him. "I'm alright Cap, a new drink someone told me about and I wanted to try it out."

"Lieutenant Wolfe, I'd like you to see what you can learn about the disappearance of the Faraday. I have a feeling there's more to this than we know."

Damion nodded to the Captain and then smiled. "You give me an hour or so and I will get you what I can." He knew just the contact to use for the job, too. Now all he hand to do was make sure she didn't have enough on her plate already.

"I'll get that to you as soon as the meetings' over," she assured him.

Patrick knew that he was along for the ride. Sensors were his thing, and as with any search, they were going to be a major element to the whole deal. "Guess I'm going to be in on this one. After a couple of years planet side and our nice little swimming trip. I think I can pass on some R&R and go with the search."

Marek wondered what could have happened to the Commander and the Faraday crew.

Leo looked over his duty roster and selected fifteen names. Everyone else including Trent would be sent on R&R. Shaking his head he got up grabbing a glass of water, not wanting to drink that liquid any more. Taking a sip he nodded. "Alright Ma'am, I know who I'd like to voluntell to stay behind on this one."

Sam nodded. "Send me your list." She looked at the others. "Nova class ships don't carry a lot of passengers. I don't want to abuse our welcome. But I will take as many as they'll allow. Thus I want to keep the list short. We'll head for the starbase shortly. Two days from now, we rendezvous with the Von Braun. I'd like to know who wants to be where tomorrow."

"Aye aye Ma'am," Leo said with a smile. "For all we know, they may welcome the added security if they're not used to that many people." Shrugging he stood. "Are we dismissed?"

"If there are no other questions, yes. You're dismissed."

Marek got to his feet and headed out of the conference room.

Levue nodded, and followed suit.

"With a situation this stressful and intense, I think I might be useful, so I'm in if you'll have me." Sophia said.

"Definitely," Sam assured her.

Patrick went off to collect some more data on the area they would be searching in, surveys, loose intel, political bull... Anything he could think of on the area, as well as some additional info on the Von Braun, maybe some sensor mods that would be more helpful to the task...

Noelle stepped next to Leo "Who do you have on your list?" She asked having made a mental list of her own.

Showing her the list he had made, it held next to no one except Marines that he had worked closely with and knew how to keep their heads. "Kara and Trent are a must. After how many missions? I'd trust either of them with my life."

Sam asked to see the list and looked it over. "Excellent choices. Brief them and be ready as soon as we reach the starabase."

As soon as everyone ws gone, Sam sat back at the table and sighed. Soon, Damon, she promised. We'll come find you soon.
